July 13, 2010 is approaching quickly(Win2k support is over)...might be time for an upgrade.

Even support for Windows XP ends on 4/8/2014. We probably have a couple more years until that drops off he list.
As for Windows 7, that doesn't end until 1/14/2020. haha
I don't know if the patch did anything for my graphics (they look the same to me), but I believe I found a fix to my problem. Disabling the startup service called Apoint.exe seems to alleviate the movement and typing lag I've been suffering from. Took some trial and error to find it. I'm pretty militant about what services and programs I run. Because of that, I know that Apoint controls the scrolly-thing on my laptop's touchpad. Disabling it prevents me from scrolling with the keyboard's touchpad, but I can still use my mouse, so it's a small price to pay if it makes the game playable again. Also, I know for a fact that I've been running the service for a long while and it has never interfered with gameplay before i17. Strangely, although movement and typing have been restored, the cursor itself remains glitchy and occasionally invisible. Weird...
Thanks for all the suggestions yall gave me. I was pretty pissed that the day I finally earned a billion influence w my main toon was the same day the game came crashing down around me.
How good is this?

A friend of mine told me that this system would make CoV pee its pants...

I also play on a laptop and have the Apoint.exe thingy, good find!
Only question I have though is does it make a difference if you set the priority to low rather than turning it off completely? The reason I ask is because I havent really got enough room to get a mouse to play and rely on the touchpad.

Yea, graphics is pretty weak. The good news it's better than an integrated graphics processor. It's down with the 9400GT in lack luster performance.
The rest of the system looks fine. But I would expect that it has a minimally sized power supply like most basic Dell computers which would make graphic's card upgrades hard. Double that if it's a compact, slim-line case.

Ironblade poo poos: It might lose bladder control while laughing at that video card. The 5450 is grossly underpowered for this game. The rest of the hardware looks great. |
Not doubting you, of course, just don't have enough tech knowledge in this area to know why.
Dec out.
I don't know, Ill have to see when the comp comes in... if anything else I will shop around for a new card at some point... I am not concerned with UM that much... doesn't mean much to me and it doesn't give the game any awesome content or new powers. I am hoping that this gives me a fairly good FPS not to mention that I also use this for school and work.

Your new system should work fine. Just don't try to max out anything. Play with the settings until you find what you like, and don't look back.
When you get a few more bucks saved up, see what you can do to upgrade the power supply (most likely won't have much extra "oomph" for you), and look at something like a 5850 vid card.
