MM Caltrops was stealth-nerfed.
It was well-known that MM Caltrops could take both PBAoE and Targeted AoE sets. In i17, they stealth nerfed it so that you can no longer put in PBAoE sets in it. Dev comment?

I'm not a dev but,.....It is as Targeted AoE. What is the problem? If you have PBAoE sets in there they will stay until you respec. If not It looks like it is now working as intended originally.
This issue was brought up in closed beta, but it looks like those threads are all gone..so I can't access them and quote the conversations there for you.
The general consensus, as I recall, was that while inconvenient the change isn't horribly gimping. If you don't respect and have the other sets slotted, they still work. You'll lose them if you respec though.
My level 50 Dominators:
Madame Mindbender 50 Mind/Energy
Fly Agaric 50 Plant/Thorn
Nate Nitro 50 Fire/Psi

think my Traps MM will still have 3 damage procs in Caltrops regardless of this change.

You know it's not a PBAOE. You know it's a Targeted AOE.
And for those who put PBAOE sets in it, they get to keep them in no problem.
Sooo...how is this a nerf exactly? It's a fix, with nothing happening to the person who slotted the PBAOE set.

I've never even slotted Caltrops, on any archetype, with anything more than recharge redux, so I guess I don't really care.
Caltrops is not a PBAOE. The bug is fixed, and although it mistakenly got left out of earlier patch notes it's in now.
