MM Caltrops was stealth-nerfed.

It was well-known that MM Caltrops could take both PBAoE and Targeted AoE sets. In i17, they stealth nerfed it so that you can no longer put in PBAoE sets in it. Dev comment?

I'm not a dev but,.....It is as Targeted AoE. What is the problem? If you have PBAoE sets in there they will stay until you respec. If not It looks like it is now working as intended originally.

Why wait 8 issues to just change what sets are allowed without telling the player-base beforehand? :<

This issue was brought up in closed beta, but it looks like those threads are all gone..so I can't access them and quote the conversations there for you.

The general consensus, as I recall, was that while inconvenient the change isn't horribly gimping. If you don't respect and have the other sets slotted, they still work. You'll lose them if you respec though.

Now I wonder if they are going to "fix" Trip Mine and make it a PBAoE as it should be.

Probably not because it's a targeted aoe. You target the ground. It then goes off when an enemy gets near it, regardless of where you are.

It's been said by both BAB and Castle publicly, so, there's a very, very high probability that all the Devs are on board with this:

No matter how long a mistake, bug, exploit, overpowered or underpowered 'thing' has been in the game; if they have the opportunity to 'fix' it, they will, regardless of how many gamers have become attached to it.

Fix is not synonymous with Nerf. People really should stop interchanging them...

think my Traps MM will still have 3 damage procs in Caltrops regardless of this change.

I want to know why you think it's a nerf? o.O

You know it's not a PBAOE. You know it's a Targeted AOE.

And for those who put PBAOE sets in it, they get to keep them in no problem.

Sooo...how is this a nerf exactly? It's a fix, with nothing happening to the person who slotted the PBAOE set.

I've never even slotted Caltrops, on any archetype, with anything more than recharge redux, so I guess I don't really care.

I used to slot Recharge AND slow, because against +3s, the slow from caltrops unenhanced is not enough.

Caltrops is not a PBAOE. The bug is fixed, and although it mistakenly got left out of earlier patch notes it's in now.
