blow by blow...the Q&A EU thread.
This QA is so much more informative than the other one already.
Posi is very wrong about new players opting to go to Praetoria, I suspect. If you're new wouldn't you want to start with the "prime" basics before going into the sequel? Electric control being a distinct set makes me much more interested in it. |
For example a new player from purchase of Going Rogue is almost definitely going to start in Praetoria.
Now where will they likely see most new players once GR is out? I would think it is GR. So I think he is correct.
Another way he is probably correct about it is some new players will know that Praetoria is new and shiny and a lot of people will avoid old for new. That's why we see so many products that are "New and Improved" instead of "Same Old".
And once a new player discovers that CoV and CoH means a choice of 5 ATs but Praetorian means 10, a lot of people would immediately choose more.
Plus he has the advantage of knowing how the startup screens and character creations are probably going to change. It may be a subtle draw but it is possible it could be setup to encourage starting with a Praetorian.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
They probably will add some cue to encourage people to Praetoria.
I am probably not like most, because I like to get a "pure" kind of gameplay before going into things like sequels.
Note that I have tried to run issue 1 or 2 content before but I JUST CAN'T STAND IT. Every time I do that I either stop very fast or just skip everything. IMO they should try to redo it just because it's embarrassing and generates a bad reputation. It come up in many comments about the game at other sites.
When I go to a link about some upcoming game info at other sites the comments always bring up how it's that game where you slog through mobs at the same dang warehouse thousands of times and the NPCs treat you like a lackey.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

I always thought the timeline of this game was that we were brand new heroes at low level and gaining reputation/power as we level up.
So being treated like a lackey would in a way, make sense. The higher up you get, the more respect you seem to get.
The only early content i would like done up to the new arc standards are:
- Frostfire - could you imagine the awesomeness of this at todays standards?
- That arc where you get the virus on you against the Vahz
- Tutorial
- Atta
- Nemesis weather control arc [use a single arc to have weather effects in please!]
- The arc full of paragon protectors

Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.
So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
I can't speak for most hero content, but villains, yikes. Before i17 introduced its very excellent arcs, the most respect you get is from Matthew Burke at level 1. Your reward for defeating Recluse is... the ability to work for him!

Evil Scientist in the making and he knows he is dependant upon you (ok that is lvl 45-50) but.. "Laught with me" (I love this contact).

Nothing about Server List merges? I'm surprised it wasn't brought up.

I hope we get to know the plans that War Witch has for bringing the playerbase closer together though.
Also it seems we do got someone in Marketing for EU, however Positron did not remember his/her name. And since Black Pebble did introduce himself earlier, he did dodge the question if he was responsible for EU.
So my original belief (until proven otherwise) still stands. The responsible person for EU marketing or EU servers is cloaked in shadows. Sitting in his or her (or even its) dark room, where we cannot see the person(s) gender(s), stroking the white cat, sorrounded by minions in suits, cackling maniacly.. etc...
In any event the time that would be perfect for a server list merge is almost upon us. Devs there is still time before GR will be launched.
All it should take in theory is a fix to the updater. Unless EU and NA uses different systems and needs a whole workover...
Could we just please know what are the reasons that stops a server list merge?

This would be my number one wish for the game above all the extra shinys... just being able to be one community.
But I too would love to know the precise technical reasons too. Just to know whether they're really insurmountable or just too much work for such a small part of the community.

I remember before he left, Ghostraptor saying something along the lines of "It would be horrible to do, forget it." But I don't like being defeatist.

It was. I don't recall there was a response.
BAB said we will not get a "point and sit" which is a shame
