Suggestion! Fiery Embrace should offer Knockback Protection which lasts almost long enough to be perma'd without Slotting!

Oh God people, stop making suggestions. Oldest One (My Fire/Fire brute) is already awesome, don't convince Castle to nerf my poor half demon engine of destruction.

What I really want is a beserker, which I suggested as a powerset a while back. Auto go boom power upon death, generic self rez, and a godmode like no other... invulnerable for a time but a self kill crash.

Just a thought...but Dominators have lower HP (we fold like a weak controller); so maybe the extra 10 seconds is merely the Devs trying to balance out gameplay for PvP?
Either way I love that it lasts longer, especially when you've just activated domination bonus. (insert evil grin here).

Brutes get higher HP and at the top end do around 3% more sustained damage than scrappers. They get a longer duration on fiery embrace and a higher mag on cloak of fear. They level faster in the pre-SO levels due to fury. Brute.Claws.Spin is ridiculously overpowered compared to Scrapper.Claws.Spin.
The devs OBVIOUSLY hate villains.

Surely Brutes have a longer duration becasue of the fact that fury makes damage buffs less effective in brutes than they would be for scrappers and tanks. therefore meaning that technically brutes are getting a weaker power that lasts longer. Hey it's balanced!! ^_^

I'm pretty sure Brutes have a higher damage cap too, unless that's changed.

The damage mods are .75 vs 1.125.
To equal scrapper base damage, IIRC, a brute has to carry around a +150% damage bonus or so, and at +650% bonus are roughly at scrapper damage cap.

So, I thought up this question quite a long time ago, but keep forgetting to ask Castle when I happen to see him, so I figure here is as good a place as any in case it has been answered at some point already, or if others want to know. Anyway...here it is.
Why does Fiery Embrace(Specifically the Fire damage buff) last 20 seconds for Scrappers/Tanks, and 30 seconds for Brutes/Dominators For the life of me I can't think of good reason why. Well you know...except the fact that the devs hate heroes(wait...what? ) |
I can think of a good reason why it should last longer; base damage from both tanks and scrapper ATs is higher, just like how the range damage AT (blaster) of a hero AT has the highest compared to the villain equivalents (corruptor, dominator).
Maybe they should think along these lines: if it takes brutes longer to work up damage, maybe these buffs should last longer.
I hate the balance of factions in this game, maybe lower base damage (which in my opinion is much more important than damage cap, especially when the damage caps are CLOSE) is a good argument all by itself for longer buff durations. Ever think of that?
I'm bitter. It feels like I'm playing Aion sometimes when it's hero faction vs. villain faction, absolutely no balance.
I think Castle should just raise the duration for Scrappers and Tanks. Help raise the performance of the set to better match shields, for those AT's at least.
