Ah Protector.... my home away from home....

I love Protector, what with it's random invasions of other servers....

It's Rampaging Robots Resulting in Random Rubble and Reduction of Residential Recreation....

It's Drunken Debauchery Diligently Delivered Dusk to Dawn to Delighted & Dauntless Denizens....

It's Sooner-Flavored Baked Pies....

And it's love of all things Podcast & Podcast related!

Wait, that last one hasn't happened yet, has it?

WELL NOW IS YOUR CHANCE, PROTECTOR!

Yes, we're running a podcast for CoH & CoV, and I want everybody to know during our next show what makes Protector's awesome level frickin' BOMBASTIC!

Here's what I'd like from you guys:

Let me know what it is about this server that makes you love it so much that you would forsake all the other servers for it! Whether it's events, the people, the community, just tell me what about Protector is unique and special so that I might tell the world!

What's that? Why should you do this for me, you ask? Well, let me tell you!

EVERY reply that I get in this thread, so long as it is even slightly useful, will be entered into a drawing for a fantastic prize! What is this prize you ask? Well, we picked up some spare swag at HeroCon just so we could give it away to you, our listeners!

What else do you need to know!?

Get Kraken, Protector! Unleash your potential, and show us just why you should be loved!

-Meg ^.^v

-Castle Approved Since March 2009!
-Off the Cape is CURRENTLY RECORDING NEW CONTENT! Once edits, templates, and the new site are up we'll be back to bi-weekly podcasts complete with rampant, wild, unfounded CoH speculation!

You don't know Protector very well do you. I guess someone will mention the cross posting soon.

Sweet, I had already found the podcast before you posted this, I was trying to find any currently active CoH podcasts, and it's actually been interesting, can't wait to hear more of them!

As far as what makes Protector so great? I can't say much as I've just started the game, but I'm loathe to leave the server atm since I've found a wide variety of people who've just grabbed me for PUGs and forced me to go out of my way to experience new things and have tons of fun! It's been awesome, and most everyone I've met has been so helpful and full of advice for noobs! I love it!

Keep up the good work on Off the Cape! I didn't understand some of the references, but I managed Durn noobness....

I love Protector because of its people.

We may be smaller than some of the others but we have an amazing team here.

While it seems that some of the other servers tend to have alot of infighting Protector is one large (slightly dysfunctional) family.

We may not always agree with everything that everyone is saying but we always can come together to achieve some of the truly insane things that help to make this game great.

From New Player Welcome Nights to forum games we never miss a chance to help out each other and thats why I love Protector.

Other servers ask why do something, Protector says "LETS DO IT!"

And also " Can we do it in style"

Followed by, "Not the face! Not the face!"

And thats what makes Protector great.

Because Protector takes all the little things the other servers have that make them great, puts them in a blender, and makes margaritas out of them.

No, seriously, I think the only gamer crowd not represented on this server is PVP.

I think this song pretty much sums up how I feel about my friends on Protector.

What do I love about Protector?

I love our never say die attitude. I love our claim of game firsts. (First server to complete the new hamidon on both sides. First server to have verified MoSTF badges.) I love our Mascot. I love our Debt Cap. I love our noobs, our vets, and our heroes who've hung up the cape. I love our Global channels, from lurkers to the people who never shut up ( like me!). I love KJSR, even if it's beyond just our server now. I love the people who listen to me every week even though I SUCK.

There's alot more I could list I'm sure. But I love each and every part of this server, including our 5 man PvP community, because it is the sum of everything on Protector, that makes it, Protector.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

I thought we were wiped out by GA. Nothing but crickets left.

Thought this up while at work.

Now this is a story all about how
My server got picked, and I've been here till now
Now I'd like to take a minute, so just sit right there
And I'll tell you how I came to reside on Protect-air

In West Pennsylvania, born and raised
On the internets, is where I spend most of my days.
Tweetin' and Tube'n and acting a fool
Just doing my best to fake being cool
When a buddy of mine, showed me this game
It really got the juices flowing in my brain
I rolled one little defender and my Life got changed
A copy of my own I just had to arrange.

I raced into the store, and when the clerk came near
He had a nametag on his shirt, and he smelled like beer.
If anything I thought this guy was a zero
But I said, ah forget, Yo Homes gimme City of Heroes!

I, In, Stalled the game around seven or eight
and said to myself, this game will be great.
I made my account, and I was finally there
To rock Radiation, on the server Protect-air.

Yes I get bored at work.

As a side note, I was listening to your show last week while playing STO

Protector is defiantly about the people. I have a few toons on other servers, but Protector is still where I like to be.

And even when I'm on other servers, my channels are on protector based ones.

Am I still eligible for that awesome prize Meg?

BTW, I replied to your PM, albeit past the proposed deadline. You'll understand why when you read it.

For me, what makes Protector stand out is, as others have already stated, the community spirit.

We don't get along 100%. Drama occurs. We have a diversified group of higly mature and knowledgeable people who all think their opinions are 1) right and 2) should be heard. Sometimes repeatedly.

We could even be categorized as a server of soloers sometimes, with strong-willed individuals all striving to carve a place out for themselves.

We have a very low tolerance for obnoxiousness, yet have much regards for new players boldly staking their claims to a spot in the server community.

But ever since I logged into Protector almost 6 years ago, people have always been available to help out, and take the time to answer your questions. That was the first impression Protector gave me as I zoned into Atlas Park.

That will be the last impression I hope to leave with it when I hang my carbon nanofiber laced Plasteel™ armor and turn off its FRacas Effect Energy Manipulation power core.

The good far, far outweighs any bad, and the tight-knit community we have here is only strengthened by our diversity and differences.

I've always felt that Protector is the stoner group of Coh. Most of us are laid back and just hang for the fun of the game. Some of us crave the munchies (in this case badges!). Never hard to find a group willing to do whatever and not afraid to lose.

It's been a great going on 6 year run which honestly I never saw that I'd still be here after this amount of time. But still here and planning on staying around for years to come.

Oh god, Rasta. You have to record that for Rasta Day. It's just too much win.
