my laptop cost 900 bucks over a year ago.

I don't need apps because it runs CoH on high settings lol.

I would love Pocket mids! OMG that would be awesome.

I have tried the online one, it works, I just never got into that version. Used a program to download the wiki (Yes I have a TON of storage )

ON a side note. A year or so ago, someone posted about CoH running on the iPhone. Since I've had pocket Pc's for years and that my current one out performed the iPhone (no idea on the new revisions) I thought i'd look into it.

Its a trick really, you use VNC (Virtual Network Computing) in other words, the iPhone was being used as a remote control with a view port. I found a good Pocket Pc VNC client and fired it up.

My pocket pc is a Dell Axim (for this experiment I had it clocked at 890Mhz!!!) with a VGA screen. After a lot of messing around with controls, it worked. all be it at about 8 frames a second, it was kinda low. Tapping and dragging on the screen with the Stylis worked Just like a mouse, no issue there, even the arrow keys for moving around were already mapped to the pocket pc's D pad, the center button was Jump, Just program the other 4 buttons on the pocket pc to the powers you'd use the most and away you go!

The good thing about this was.. even ultra mode would work on it after all, it didn't have to worry about the processing or graphics work, the desktop was doing it all. The bad thing, the screen resolution kinda threw me off and I couldn't play too well. Even changing the windows scale to as small as it would go was difficult to use.

At the time I was considering doing a write up on it, but devices are comming out now that can run it Natively, (like the now mentioned iPad and the OQO) that are small enough (especially in the OQO's case) to carry with you on the go.

I myself am going to wait a little while for another device. My Pocket Pc does just about everything you can think of (Heck i've even run Windows 95 on it). But mobile devices becomming more and more powerful i'll wait until I can get something that I like and can run it, and still fit in my top pocket

Likewise.

I plan to get a 2nd or 3rd Gen one (my laptop should be fine for another few years), but the prospect of an iPad actually became awesome when they announced multitasking.

Without multitasking, it's kinda crap to be honest, too big just to do one thing at a time.

To be honest, I mostly scoff at the multi-tasking argument. All of the apps include good enough program hooks (what document was open, where you were in it, etc) and low enough load times that switching apps is comparable to alt-tabbing. The only real thing I care about multi-tasking is music, and it does that already.

I cannot agree with you. There are so many use cases where multitasking is absolutely required for your productivity and your sanity. Please, hear me out; I don't want to flame at you, I want you to understand where I'm coming from.

Take a read of this man's article.

Happily, I sat down with the iPad in my lap and managed to type the URL correctly on only the third try. As always, the page loaded quickly and looked great, for a smallish screen. Oh wait, I forgot, we don't compare the iPad screen to something reasonable like a 13-inch MacBook screen, we only compare it to the iPhone. Sure enough, it's enormous.

Soon, though, the thrill of the Imax-like-by-comparison-to-the-iPhone screen was tempered by the hassle of trying to compare items on multiple Web pages. In addition to not being able to place pages side by side, switching between pages involves multiple taps, separated by a scan of a bunch of tiny thumbnails. Giving up on this approach, I took to transferring prices from different pages onto a piece of paper, using a pencil. This made comparisons much simpler, but I shudder to think what would happen if I were seen doing this in public.

Comparing Web pages to e-mail was even more disconcerting as I had to leave Safari entirely, click on Mail, and then go back to the Home page and relaunch Safari. In addition to being frustrating, this approach is somewhat perplexing because other iPad apps have the ability to open a Web page in a pop-up sheet. Surely Apple knows about this part of the iPad API. . . .
Now, this argument is largely moot with multitasking coming in the fall, but please; don't underestimate how necessary this is.

I implore you to read the whole article with an open mind. This man loves Macs, but his problem is that there is no real need for or good use of the device. Not if you already have a laptop.

The second generation iPad may be different, with other features that are sorely lacking on this iteration, but we aren't there yet.

I've never actually browsed using two web pages directly next to each other for comparison, even when I had dual monitors set up for my desktop computer. I guess some people may find that more of an issue for me, but after watching my use patterns over an extended period of time, I have noticed that I never have more than one program in the foreground at a time.

Again, maybe an issue for some, but it's probably less of an issue than you think.

Oh yeah, omg. not being able to multitask would of turned my pocket pc into a glorified media player >.< Multitasking was a MUST for me as well

I've been wanting some things CoX related for a while. Maybe some City of Heroes Mini Games that you can earn infl/prestige for, towards your base. This ould require NCSoft support. But depending on If it would allow me to earn Prestige while away from the game, I'de be willing to easily spend up to $10 for it.

Or maybe the CoH card game that was released, convert it into a Digital version for iPhone/iPad.

Maybe a CoX Mini Creator for said devices. Seems like $0.99 wouldnt be too bad of a price for that.

Sorry to res a dead thread, but I was wondering if there were any sort of Android apps for CoH? I was looking for a simple XML-server stat reader, but found nothing. My search fu might be weak.

"Look how many pages of crap are in this thread already!" -r0y to all threads on these forums.

An unofficial server status page (including an xml page) was made, you can find it in this post:

I don't think anyone is doing either iOS or Android Apps. Now please let this thread die.

We've actually got a few things in the pipeline (read: not soon or even Soon™, but not quite "on the backburner" either) in HTML 5 that we're working on targeted at mobile- and tablet-format devices. Anything that comes out of this effort will be compatible with both iOS and Android, as well as any HTML 5-capable browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.). We'll post more info as we make more progress.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

Yes, but those aren't native apps.
