The Painfully Obvious Combo Thread!

I've decided to move away from my home server of Virtue to test some things out for kicks.

My plan is to build each character on that server with very direct, obvious power choices and ATs, Usually I try very hard to create interesting combos, trying to put together sets as an example, Here's what my plans are:

Ninja Blade Ninjutsu Stalker with ninja run because, wel, duh

Dark Melee Dark Armor Stalker (Yeah yeah, there's other dark options, but all that darkity dark just SCREAMS stalker) with an undefined movement set

Trick Arrow/ Archery Defender

Martial Arts/ Willpower Scrapper Ninja run

Broadsword/ Sheild Defense Scrapper
Super Strength/ INvuln Brute or Invuln Super Strength Tanker, convince me of either one! with Super Jump

Every single matching set of "elemental" powers, ice/Ice, Fire/Fire, e.t.c.

any other obvious pairs you guys could suggest?

Somebody give me more ideas!

Plant Thorns is the obvious Dominator
Plant Rad is probably the obvious controller (you have mutant plants and something to mutate them)

At least, to make use of Plant.

Invulnerability / Super Strength is a classic tanker combination. I would take Fly, though, and Laser Beam Eyes.

Shield/Axe and Shield/Mace tankers.

Illusion/Force Field and Ice/Storm controllers; Storm/Electric defender.

Psychic/Mental blaster.

I tend to think of Traps as the "obvious" Robotics secondary, but that may just be me. All those extra gadgets, and you still have the force field theme continued.

On the topic of gadgets, AR/dev, DP/dev, or arch/dev blaster.

Stone/stone tank or brute is obvious, but stone/fire is also a pretty natural mix now that we have the lava texture. Same for earth/therm controllers.

FF/Energy defender, to a lesser extent.

Fire/Kin Controller.

Obviously a farmer!

AR/Devices/Munitions Mastery Blaster

Katana/Invulnerability Scrapper with a Trenchcoat. There can only be one!

Here are some quick blue-side matches:

Blasters: Fire, Ice, Electric, and Energy Blast are all x3's. Assault Rifle or Pistols match Devices and have a matching epic as well. Psi/Mental exists but has no direct epic; Primal works quite well for this however.

Defenders: Dark/Dark/Dark is the only set that carries through as a direct match from primary to epic. Reasonably close x3 matches are Empathy/Mind/Mental, Storm/Lightning/Electric, and Force Field/Energy/Primal. Obvious x2 matches are Cold/Ice, Trick Arrow/Archery, Sonic/Sonic, Rad/Rad. Traps/Rifle or Traps/Pistols.

Controllers: There are few exact matches. x3's are Fire/Thermal/Fire and Ice/Cold/Ice. A case could be made Mind/Empathy/Psi, Mind/Force Field/Psi, Gravity/Kinetics/Primal and Gravity/Force Field/Primal but none are "obviously" exact.

Scrappers: Fire/Fire/Blaze and Dark/Dark/Dark are the only obvious x3's. A case could be made for Shield + Weapon. Elec/Elec is an x2.

Tankers: x3's are Ice/Ice/Artic, Earth/Earth/Earth and Fire/Fire/Pyre. x2's are Dark/Dark and weapon + shield. Energy Melee and Energy Mastery exist without a primary (Energy Aura, not available to Tankers yet).

I might have missed a few in there.

Gravity/Force Fields Controller is a good telekinetic/magnetic power combo

Similarly, Gravity/Electric Dominator works really well together as electromagnetic powers.

Earth/Storm and Plant/Storm are good "Earth/Planet" power sets

And of course Storm/Elec is the obvious thematic pairing for Storm with Defenders.

I consider Plant / Storm / Earth to be an obvious "nature manipulation" build.

Looking at redside, a Fire / Dark Corruptor seems pretty obvious (smoke and flames). Really, Corruptors have so many choices you could fill a server with just them. Mercs / Trick Arrow Masterminds are also very thematic, at least if you've seen Rambo.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

From what I've seen, a lot of same-type powersets naturally compliment each other quite well.

Storm/Elec is one I think people forget.

Plant/Empathy is an "obvious" set, I think, for a Mother Nature-healy-earthy-crunchy type.
Robotics/Force Field, since the bots themselves also generate force fields.
Kinetics/Energy
Fire/Thermal (Corruptor or Controller)

My first villain was a Robots/Poison since the mastermind would be an expert in chemistry for inner workings lubricants, seeker drones, photon grenades that the robots use -- a mad scientist theme.

Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
