Just got back from the panel. Lady Sadako pretty much has it all live on my City Life thread, but here's a recap:

Two New GR Sets: Kinetic Melee and Electric Control

KM is supposed to be a "punchy" set, but it looked more Ken & Ryu to me. I almost thought it was ranged based on the video they showed.

4 New Zones in Paretoria... can't remember all the names but there was Nova Praetoria, Imperial City, and The Underground. EDIT: The fourth zone is Neutropia, the technological part of the city.

Comments were made about War Walls being gone, but I don't know if that meant for Paragon City or Praetoria.

Issue 19: INCARNATES... this is the end-game Posi has been working on. We'll get a preview of the first "level" of Incarnate stuff (there are 10) in GR. It's supposed to be challenging high end content with cool rewards. Some of it may be zone event based from what I heard.

Uh... Issue 17 stuff: Dopplegangers are the new enemy and the new enemy is YOU! They added tech so that they can make you fight yourself. They can even make your whole team fight your whole team. They can tweak costumes, sets, or just use your default stuff. Sounded extremely cool!

That's all I can think of for now... very awesome stuff.

I bet we'll see Dark Control before Grav.

Oh, and because of the new sets the Staff set has moved up a few notches.

Staff set? Like bos or quarterstaves? They actually mentioned they wanted to do that?

Castle is one sneaky bugger. He just posted that Electric Control was a long ways off in the Controller forums... like a month ago. Knew there were going to be other sets from War Witch's interviews, so it's fun to hear about those.

Figured incarnates would have to figure into the game somehow (just wish we wouldn't have to wait until I19 for it, unless I18 is coming out around GR). Doppelgangers sound cool, though I still hope they get a personal nemesis system going somehow. Lot of cool stuff thrown out there, just to keep us slavering.

Someone asked now that four new sets are being added, what has "moved up" on the white board to being closer to reality. Staves were specifically mentioned.

I18 is the GR issue.

Hmmmm, but aren't the two separate and distinct things? Like the issue released around CoV?

I would love to see a staff set. I'm sure BAB and the other animators could come up with some cool stuff. Though I suppose I hope they don't go all Asian martial arts with it (hehe, or maybe they could offer different animation options). Quarterstaff moves would/could look quite powerful and cool, too.

IIRC, CoV was Issue 6. (I always associated it with Issue 7 for some reason though) GR will be 18.

I made a post about Staves a few months ago of how I'd like the set to break down. Mine was more TMNT arcade-style as I thought that would best fit in with this system. If it's even half of what I can picture, these bastiches are gonna keep me around for another god damn 6 months

I've already forgotten about most of you

With Power Customization, they could do it one way and add an alternate set of animations later.

I know they could, MG, but I'd like them to put both in at once. I know, I'm asking for too much. I'm sure alternate animations for Dual Pistols would make some of the wild, wild west types out there, though.

But anyway, I'll be curious to see how that pans out. A TMNT style might be the best balance style, though. Good thinking, Voo.

Hmmmm, the idea of the Kinetics melee sounded cool at first, but I don't know after seeing it in action. Lot of hand-waving and not as physical as I as imagining (I was imagining fists actually connecting with mobs). KD and KB is lots of fun, of course, so it might be more okay after I see it some more.

That's what I meant when I said it was more Ken & Ryu.

after actually seeing the kinetic melee in action, it looked pretty cool, animations seemed kind of longish though, but if almost every power does low mag kb i guess it would keep them on the ground while your using next attack.

after seeing it in use, the first thing i thought of was ninja chi type stuff

Haven't played much Street Fighter since the second game, but I was imagining energy punches or balls of light being thrown around, since that's kind of the look for a lot of the attacks in Street Fighter (also a lot of dashing around... thought they might have a slight Shield Charge look to some of them). They all feel pretty physical, too. The video shows a lot of hand-waving stuff that looks like Tai-Chi, followed by kinetics style effects, which were not as visceral as I was picturing.

Anyway, we didn't see too much, so I'll withhold judgment for now. Hard to appreciate it from one shaky cam video, heh.

I think "ken and ryu" is referring to when Ryu or Gouken charge up their ultra fireball.

And off the top of my head, I'd say KM might not utilize the fury bar very well.

Can someone clear something up for me about the incarnates? The system, does it mean that we will be making new AT characters like VEAT, EATs, or we take an existing level 50, and level them through the incarnate levels, essentially like multi-classes in DnD? If so that means that we're raising the level cap, so to speak, without actually going beyond 50.

from what i gathered i would say that its extendinh the game to 60 without extending the game to 60 but to gain the powers you have to do some hard mission r some such thing maybe TF esque but you cant do other stuff inbetween the mission to get the powers a unique arc for the diffrent incarnate classes
