Bayani's Gallery Updates

that looks awesome - but yeah, it does sort of look like Bayani has snagged the fabric of CB's butt.

Other than those issues it did turn out well. Definitely the right layout to go with.

Art of Suichiro's Massacre Melanie, by Steven Sanchez. Why? Because it was in my power to do so.

I think this brings my total of non-Bayani/Planet Girl related art to...*counts* 33. (five of which I don't have scans or copies of sadly).

I love MM's piece!! Who gets to colorize her??

Hm, good question. The decision probably won't be up to me, it's more up to Suichiro as I probably won't be getting it colored myself. After a quick gallery count, I discovered that I'm up to 84 pieces of Bayani art, with approx. 4-5 more pieces of art on the way. Given the way my budget for the year is looking, I'd like to get my 100th piece by Christmas (with the remaining 11 pieces being full-blown illustrations...pencils/inks/colors with maybe a statue tossed in the mix. The CoH Universe section is gift art collected on behalf of other players, either as prizes for contests, for running regular RP/Missions with me, or just having a design I really liked (though there are some I wish I could take back...oh well). Basically, just to add something different to the gallery when artists I've developed good relationships are running specials or might owe me a favor or two.

Thats a really cool portrait

Art by David Nakayama. It's an old piece...the first commission I've ever gotten actually. The original had Bayani punching Statesman but I wanted to the image of Bayani for a special page in the comic I'm working on. I had Eddy photoshop out Statesman and then manipulate the lines to align the figure more vertically; then he re-colored the piece. Looks ready for print now.

As a lover of black and white art, I likely won't get it colored at all. It's already "done" to me. Though if I did, I'd probably just do it myself. Something beautiful like a pencil sketch deserves to have it's line quality preserved, so basic color flats multiplied against the lines would work well.

Guest-starring Planet Girl, Killer Whale, and Celtic Bolt, and had Bayani's sidekick, Mae-Day thrown in there just for the hell of it. There are a few revisions to be made, namely Bayani's logo is on the wrong side; Celtic Bolt's butt looks weird, and Planet Girl's foot/leg should be moved elsewhere so it doesn't look like it's resting on Mae-Day's head.

This piece is fantastic.

Great piece from Sanchez.

Great idea and a beautiful end result.
Gratz Bayani!

I already posted my thoughts up on your DA page of it... you should maybe address the "cut line" before printing it unless you don't see it/don't think it matters.

Well, I don't know if it'll make much of a difference. When you factor in that the print area of the page is about 7.5x10 inches and the picture will be re-sized to no bigger than about a quarter of that page, it probably won't be a big deal. It'll be going on a short biography page, similar to the Virtueverse page I have that few people visit.

Then it probably won't matter so much unless you are bothered by it.
Most people probably won't notice it, but then I suppose the same thing
could be said for much of the details that bug me... this is probably no different.

I didn't really pick up on it right away. I think the reason why it looks like a really neat cut is because when I did a test print of the model sheets, there were a few layer issues that left unwanted marks on the page. I think Eddy went really tidy on this piece to avoid that in the future. If I were going to make a serious print of this, yeah, I'd probably want to go through another revision. But it's one of those very minute details that I doubt will make much of a difference in the page I have in mind for it.

Final Pencils for the cover to Community. The revisions worked out pretty well. The only changes I have in mind would probably be to remove the muscle outlines in the jacket and replace them with basic folds in the fabric so it doesn't look skin tight. maybe have the back of the jacket fall more naturally. The lighting on the left side of the body needs to be tweaked a bit; seems odd that the logo's visible even though that side appears to be shadowed in.

Whoa. My mouth is so wide open after seeing that, I could be a human fly-trap.

Really epic, Bayani!

Thanks, LJ, you didn't have to though. I have a pretty solid plan for the final 14. =) Well...13 now I guess. Hm. Maybe 10 because I do have three other pieces in the works...

Final? I don't like that word. :P

Grats on the LJ piece!

Well, until I hit my milestone.

I figured you had plans, I just wanted to give you a small thank you for my own LJ/Bayani piece which sits honorably above my desk... I do plan to do a better piece, I'm just caught up.

And actually I bought some Cards today, with sleeves, so 20 people are about to get some gifts in the coming Spring! I'm gonna complete those in total on my own, since they'll have to be done old school (pencil, ink, watercolor)... and then I will post them en masse, and ask for addresses from my extended COH family.
