What do you think
about people getting epic ATs at level 20?
5 years ago I devoted my time completely to getting to level 50, unlocked epic AT, and felt like I'd earned it. I haven't played CoH in about 5 months or so, and looking on the website to find out that something like epic ATs at level 20 is kind of upsetting. I mean, really. If you're going to buy a subscription to an online game, you should expect that you're gonna have to play in order to achieve certain things. I was upset to find out the amount of new players getting to level 50 in two days when the Mission Architect came out, when I'd spent so much time getting to that level by actually playing the game. And now, people are being basically spoonfed the highlights of devoting your time to the game. I don't wanna sound like I'm overreacting, and I don't want to sound too attached to the game. But City of Heroes used to be a lot better. I KNOW I'm not the only one complaining about the frequent issues coming out to keep the game interesting. |
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
It was better before, and I quit. Now that I see the changes are coming, I double quit.

As for myself, I honestly felt like they were getting something that I earned. I felt annoyed. Then, I realized that they were getting to experience content they may not see otherwise. And I felt happy for them.

Out of curiosity, OP, did you have ATs for both sides?

I have 50's on both sides of CoX.
I thoroughly approve of more players having access to more options and applaud moving access down to 20.
I do not index my pleasure in my own accomplishments by how hard others have to work to get the same thing, or how exclusive my access to rewards is.
My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.
But endgame content wouldn't be endgame content if you could access it at level 5

ATs
Costume pieces
I also don't want a TF/SF to be required to unlock anything ever. I am okay with something of non-cosmetic use being unlockable by a TF/SF as long as it can also be unlocked by another means.

We don't have endgame content but I guess I could be more clear. I don't like the following to be unlockable:

That's ok then - because I have a feeling access to Praetoria might need an arc to be completed first

Am I angry/jealous/feeling gypped/think it's a "slap in the face"/etc? Nope. Not in the least. Someone else getting theirs at 20 doesn't diminish the 13 issues/4 1/2+ years I've had to play with my Khelds.

30 would be nice... or 32 (thats a magical number).
But I still wish there was an Epic Epic AT... that you unlocked when you get one of each epic to 50...
yep...
One PB, one WS, one Soldier and One Widow...

Yes. I can get lost on a straight-line map.
As MB and Scythus have said, 30 would've been better. I actually would've like it to be 35 to fall inline with Cimerora, RWZ Vanguard Merits, and that it adds just a touch of "let's work to a goal."
I KNOW I'm not the only one complaining about the frequent issues coming out to keep the game interesting.

It's Golden Girl, what do you think?

What do I think about it?
First of all, I think about the same thing I have thought of in the past 2 dozen threads on roughly the same topic.
Secondly, that thought is "Hurray! My altoholism is being rewarded!" It took me almost three years to get a single alt to 50 heroside. I'm still 4 tough levels away from that point villainside (on a character I started on CoV pre-start weekend, no less).
Yeah, some folks got characters to 50 multiple times while I was playing around with my variety of characters. But I kinda like to think that I learned the game as well as they did (if not better since I was playing a Blaster and a Tanker and a Controller and a Scrapper and a Defender in multiple iterations of each, which is somewhat helpful since a Kheld can fill so many different roles on a team).
So, I'm really pretty happy about their decision all in all.
Altoholic - but a Blaster at Heart!
