(And by the way, as per your other rant, I never update my LFT flag. In fact I hide from searches, and when I do update it I put "SG Only" in the flag. Why? To avoid Pugs with people who think I owe them my play time and get all bent out of shape when I refuse to do things their way. You know the kind... people like you.)
"Do you say 'good morning' to everyone you meet, and 'good evening' to everyone you interact with, and 'hello, how are you' on the phone Each and Every time you answer it, even if you've answered it 100 times before on that day"
of course i do, my mom raised me with some manners(except for the phone thing, of course i say hello, but usually save the how are you for the people i know) .
now, how do i go about setting up a macro to say "gratz" or the like?
edit: damn, forgot the "gratz" for the beautiful post, sorry pt, i'm getting old
You want gratz? Two dollars! O complaining about gratz? NO GRATZ FOR YOU!!!
Ah, and to the person suggesting a pogrom against a forum poster, not based upon content, but solely upon 'the act of posting', you're contravening the precious rules of this precious resource, precious. A tiny hint. |
Be well, people of CoH.
Social conventions are social conventions, nothing more. Nothing forces you to participate in them, and if you dislike them you are free not to do so. It is somewhat abnormal to expect others not to do so simply because you dislike it however.
I like holding doors open for women. It's how I was brought up, regardless of whether or not it is a subtle expression of gender bias in our society. It offends some people, and if I have particular reason to try not to offend that person I may go out of my way to not hold a door open for them. Most of the time however I follow the social norm which states that a gentleman holds the door open for ladies. If people don't like it, I pretty much shrug and go on with my life.
Similarly I dislike it when employees of a business say goodbye to me when I leave a store or restaurant. I understand why they do this having worked for a number of years in the retail and service industries, it just irks me. My response to this is to shrug and go on with my life.
In both my jobs, I deal with angry and irate customers who have attempted to get me fired and have occasionally even threatened physical violence. Someone wishing me an insincere goodbye isn't really significant enough to even register on the scale. Similarly the endless streams of Grats might not be your cup of tea, and I don't particularly blame you for it. It's just something that isn't particularly going to change.
Thanks,
