Multi-Monitor Support: Do you Want It?

I don't get it. CoH/CoV *used* to work fine on my Matrox Triple Head. In fact, Matrox's SG Utility says CoH/CoV has native support for it. Also:

Now, when I try to enable triple screen resolutions, only the right 2 screens seem to work.

Did they remove support for it while I was away?

It seems to zoom in and tilt the camera down. I made the character about the same size on my screen and used the floor tiling for scale. It bothers me.
To compliment the above post these are images from the same location for the Triplehead2Go Analogue at 1280x1024

Triple Screen Single Screen

I find it difficult to play in triple screen so currently play on a single screen only.

I would buy eyefinity card and a 3rd monitor today if COH supported it, so yes plz prioritize development of this

Late to the party as usual...however, I am in the process of starting that every three year upgrade process by starting my shopping. Thought I'd go off the deep end this time by breaking the bank but before I did, I wanted to verify a few things.

When (and this means when multiple monitor support is available for this game) I upgrade, I'm looking at the Samsung MD230X3 monitor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001428).

So, I thought I would bump this thread a bit by throwing in my two cents.

I will probably add a new monitor, as my GPU is eyeinfinity... But I dont plan on using it to play... It will be mostly to do some Alt+tab stuff...

Yes. I can get lost on a straight-line map.

Okay, it's been a long while since Tele and I had any conversation on this subject, and he's had his antenna full of other programs. To the "best of my knowledge" Eyefinity / Triplehead / 3D Vision Surround is not on the production schedule for supported Graphics Features.

Basically, if you are buying or looking at Triple-Monitor setups, I wouldn't feel right telling you that support could be "Soon(tm)" as it probably won't be.

I would be happy with CoH on main screen, map on right screen, chat on left.... that is all

*sidenote je_saist, have you thrown down any input on the 6xxx ati's or 5xx nv's yet? just wondering

I don't have a card from either series, so my practical input is limited.

I've been using CoH with a multi-monitor system for awhile now. Altho, it's not stretched across both monitors, but i have my TV connected to the TV, and sometimes i drag the CoH window over to the TVs desktop and maximize it there and play on that.

I do have a plan in the near future to buy a new comp and hook up two monitors (plus the TV) on it. And it would be real keen to have it work when i get around to that!

As neat as that is for the current game, it is limiting in the sense that spanning CoH across multiple monitors is a pain.

I really would love to have a true UI with floating windows so I can position stuff outside of the worldview. Failing that, I've tried stretching the window across multiple screens.

2 Monitors doesn't work that well since the side screen offsets the centerline of the character so that the POV is no longer in the middle of the screen.

3 Monitors repositions the POV centerline along the middle of the center monitor but then you run into the field of view issues that were introduced sometime in i4-i5.

If the devs simply removed the FOV limiter and went back to the original CoH spec I'd be happy just spanning a single window across 3 screens.

Two monitors here, both running at 1920 wide desktop resolution. Got a HD 5870 so I can already max out Ultra Mode too..
I, too, would love to see the UI tweaking capabilities suggested above.

Well it'll still be fixed FOV, just fixed vertically, not horizontally.

Assuming the the horizontal FOV is 90 degrees for a 4:3 monitor, that makes the vertical about 74 degrees (73.74).

Now if the vertical FOV is locked and not the horizontal, the horizontal FOV will be;

100.39 degrees on a 16:10 monitor, 148.95 degrees on 3, 16:10 monitors.
106.26 degrees on a 16:9 monitor, 151.93 degrees on 3, 16:9 monitors.

You can see how this, three monitors, could be an advantage in PVP, which is why it was locked on the horizontal FOV.

The "quick and dirty" solution to that is to put blankers on the screen for PvP maps. *shrug*

Sort of a non-issue if they use the extra screen space for HUD and UI though, which is what I'd prefer to see anyway. I can usually just zoom out if I need to see more.

6 months later...

Yeah i read the thread and i doubt we'll ever get this, but to answer the OP, I do own a 3 monitor gaming machine and would love to see true support for something like 4800x900 resolution. So +1 vote for adding this in asap.

I would love this option to be added! There's so many great panaramic environments in CoX with Ultra mode enabled. It's more of a crime to NOT have this support
