just a few newbie questions
1. You unlock all capes except for special ones like the Valkyrie, etc. There are probably around 30 or so.
2. If you put the wrong enh in, throw it away. Easy. If you mean you put too many slots in a power, there is your second build or a respec. Please, don't pay for one. There are always people running the rather fun respec mission. You need to be 24+, but there is no slotting mistake you can make that you can't survive until 24 with it. Or, if there is, I don't wanna see it. [or maybe I do]
When I screw up mildly, I just use my second build unless I've really spent some cash on the first build, then I cry. I have a fairly poorly built controller with a level 15 Unbound Leap +Stealth in her that I can't bear to abandon that first build since I spent LOTG7.5 money on that thing.
Just to clarify Posts comment a bit. After you do the cape mission you will need to go to the tailor and add a cape to yuor costume (it isn't automatic). The easiest tailor to get to at that level is in the north-west corner of Steel Canyon.
Also, don't stress getting the perfect build immediately. Personally I tend to build pretty haphazardly until I hit about level 30 anyway since I'm trying to get a feel for the power sets.
Hey folks, Finally started to get into the game and love it. Just a few questions
1) at 20 I know I have to do a mission to get a cape. The question is will I be able to choose the design and what not of the cape or is it a pre designed cape that is random when I finish the mish? 2) if I mess up on somthing such as enhancements can I redo thoes or is it a perm thing? and is there a way to respec a toon so I could try different builds or should I just start a new toon? Thanks folks |
1)At 20 a message will tell you to see the representative in Atlas. When you enter she is standing in the middle of the room where you pay your SG fees. After I think 3 talk to contacts you get the mission to get Hero 1's letter. After finishing and talking to the rep again you get the message that capes are now available at the tailor. You choose from a long list of patterns and you can have several styles and brooches to pick from. (NOTE - One caveat is that you have to do a small defeat all for the tailor before they will open up your 2nd costume slot at 20 but doesn't stop you from choosing a cape on your first costume.)
2)If you believe you have messed up your slotting on powers you could respec that character but if low level it might be easier to just re-roll or create an alt. Replacing enhancements might just cost you infamy/influence depending on what they are. Also of note is that at trainers you can choose your 2nd build but the enhancements from your first build do not carry over so you have to finance the enhancements to go into your second build. The nicety is that you could have a pure solo build but also have a team friendly build.

Regarding question number 2, you can find more information about the respec trial than you can shake a stick at over here:

Thanks for the help folks apprecaite it.
Another thing.
In CoV you will need to see your initial contact way back on Mercy, to get the cape and later the aura mission.
When you unlock a costume slot, the costume in the first slot is copied over. So if you don't want to pay twice for a cape, do the cape mission first, modify your first costume slot and then do the mission to unlock the next slot. Depends if you want a cape and cape-less look or both looks with capes.

Edited to add:
And as for extra costume slots, you can get a quick one by picking up the four costume parts: Lord R and...mental block...hero fellow...his mask, Back Alley gloves and Hamidon costume. Take the green line to Croa and find the witch hanging out near the station. Give them to her and you unlocked it. You can do it at level 1 if you wanted.
btw forgot to ask another question I had.
About fly is there a way to change the flight positions..I heard there was but I cant figure out how lol THanks.
They're emotes. While flying forward type /e flypose1 (or flypose2, 3, or 4).
It's just a one time thing though. To keep from having to type it out every time you want to use them check out these binds.

But villain or hero, if you bought the Good Vs. Evil pack and have the Pocket D VIP Teleporter, the easiest tailor to get to at level 3 or higher is Trina up on the loft in the Tiki Lounge.

You can also go to tailors at vanguard.
There's always a lot of options for doing anything in City of X, many times the 'best' is only personal perference.
Dont worry about screwing up builds, a 'free' respec (as linked above) comes after almost every issue, and with I17 around teh cornor your character will probably get one.
Welcome to the game!
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
Yeah, Rikti War Zone tailor is accessable via Atlas Park at level one. I've actually done costume changes before I fought a single mob if the colors looked different in the sunlight or something. Got to use all those Vet costume change tokens for something.
But you might as well visit Steel Canyon and unlock your second costume slot since you're at that level already.
