I would think they'd have to do something like rename any forum posts with the old name so someone doesn't, I dunno, try to take credit for Mephe's Perfect Firetank or something.

Contact one of the mods with your request. Within reason, they will sometimes fulfill those requests. But it's entirely at their discretion.
But no, they've never done a general forum name purge, and I doubt they ever will.
If this is a threadjack, 'sorry' in advance. It's related to forum names, but it has to do more with the "titles" under our avatars, 'Forum Cartel', 'Legend', etc. Does anyone know the ranks and post numbers related to them? I did a quick search, but nothing came up.

Yes and not to long ago when I first made this forums account I tried for just *Lucky* but it was taken so I added 666 my Lucky number to the end. Then sometime after they moved the boards to this new style I made a second account and a forum account for it and tried *Lucky* again and BAM got it.
So I am all things Lucky on these boards now

More than likely, there was a "Lucky" on both forums, so those people ended up being branded as "Lucky_NA" and "Lucky_EU" when the boards merged. You simply stole "Lucky" from under their noses before they could get it back. lol

Confirmed! A quick search shows that there are members with the names Lucky_NA and Lucky_EU. I guess they never bothered changing it at all, if they even still play.
