Issue 17 odds and ends go here
What Barracuda didn't fill your needs? Wait...why is it no one really runs that again?

They just made it easier for people to do for those not in SGs. I run a Villain SG and most people I know are in one. So that was not too hard for the Devs to change. In fact a disappointment that was ALL they did for us.
my top ten questions about 17
1)Does anyone know if there wil still be drama in tw? 2) can i have a badge map patch now? 3) please email me your influ and infamy 4) please form the posi tf team now id like to (blast) 5) Dual Guns are neat but why the KB why wasnt energy enough 6) When is GR coming? 7) is it here yet 8) Why is the new content not 50+ 9) why is the new content not in boomtown or the shadowshard something to get us to go to unused zones 10) can i have your stuff |
The answer for all: 42
Never had an issue with that Strike Force. It was not that hard to get a team together for and is one of the more beloved Strike Forces we Villains have.

The Players' Guide to the Cities
I am almost positive (now with a full night sleep) that the Silver Mantis SF runs off of the Super Computer and oh now I can't remember the name of the Arcain equivilent and I have it in my base!

But I digress. Back to the original topic: I17 - whee!
The Players' Guide to the Cities
Sorry this is off-topic, but as far as "more content for 50s":
The rumor is that we get Universal Enhancements for max level characters that degrade and must be repaired with Influence/Infamy. The End-Game System revolves around that reward structure. In my opinion, that's THE missing component of PvE right now: A fun system that rewards characters but makes them spend their in-game money on something.
Hopefully they will work to make PvP fun at the same time or immediately thereafter.
Wait . . . .
Further, if they don't add a system like that, there's no reason for me to stick around. I'm not interested in leveling characters to 50 for nothing anymore.
I've got no problem with giving 50s something to do. That's great. I don't think this is the solution.
Having to do something over and over and over with the same character just to keep that character from falling apart because its enhancements deteriorate over time? That's the definition of "grind" for me. I'd rather be parked overnight in a healing farm using Agony Mages instead of Wardens (something I'm actually very familiar with since I don't have the Warden gladiator).
But then, I'm crazy because I still love running my 50s. I'm a rare exception because when new content gets added, it's always my level 50s that see it first. I spent a lot of time running in the O-zone with my two main characters long after they had all those badges just so that I could say that both of those characters had run every mission in the game at least once.
I don't level characters for the sake of making 50. I don't care how long they take to get there. Sometimes I even turn XP off on my lower level characters. I just like to play with new powers I haven't ever used before and spend a lot of time comparing and contrasting the strategies and techniques unique to each character's survival.
Having to fight a never ending battle against myself to keep my character's enhancements/gear/whatever from turning to dust? That's what keeps me from playing other games and firmly planted here. Here, when I reach a level of development with a character, I know for a fact that the next time I log in with that character I can pick up exactly where I left off, regardless of whether it's been 4 hours or 4 months since I last took them out for a spin.
Continuously deteriorating abilities are exactly what it would take to make me actually retire or delete a character after reaching 50. I haven't done either of those with any character since I started playing the game.
But, hey, as long as we don't reach a point where we consider those Universal Enhancements absolutely necessary to play a character effectively and I can just ignore their existence, you can have 'em and more power to ya.

with Influence/Infamy |
That's the kicker. Influence/Infamy is earned through all content, even AE (and even if you turn off xp). It's not that hard to get more of it from just playing normally. This game has -zero- in-game currency sinks right now, and it's becoming more apparent by the day that it's needed.
Yeah, I read that. It's not the influence that annoys me. They could hand me free repair tokens for my enhancements once a month and that wouldn't change the fact that it would annoy me that the enhancements degrade and I have to keep repairing them.
"Hey, guys, I'm here to run the TF. Oh, we need a Controller? I'll get mine. No, wait. I haven't logged him in for a few weeks, so I'm going to have to go repair all of his enhancements before I'm ready to run."
Serious annoyance.
And I agree, we could use a currency sink or three. But again, I don't think this is the way to do it.
Hell, give me a working casino that favors the house just like a real one. There's a currency sink for ya.

No they wont. Ex. i13
Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
Badges! We Need Badges!
If they're adding a 1,000 badge collected badge, then they must be adding a ton of exploration badges. This makes me a happy badger.
Not sure I like deteriorating enhancements either. I have quite a bit of influence, but certain not silly amounts. It's hard enough to afford (or justify) spending so much on certain IO sets that it would all go poof if I did.
Arc 185502: Who Killed Snow Globe? a mini mystery Put together the clues to solve the case!
Arc 22832: And Hell Hath No Fury (extreme)
Will you be the key to the Knives of Artemis' survival? or the instrument of their destruction?

- People besides FG will go to Galaxy.
- People will never be able to pull those characters out of Galaxy because their game will crash every time they move.
MARK MY WORDS!
I'm pretty sure they are just going to cover the ground of Galaxy City with badges. It will accomplish 2 things:

Don't I know you???
I cant wait to farm GMs in AE for merits... It will be so much fun... like winterlord farming cept dont have to click on presents!!!!!!

If their idea for endgame content is an IO that is going to cost me more over time than entire IO sets for a toon, I'm hesitant to think it is a good thing. If it is going to cost a ton of money, they better have ludicrous level buffs to them or the Devs need to go back to the drawing board and come up with something fun. I have to say, the idea of a deteriorating enhancement does not sound very appealing to me.

Maybe it's just me, maybe it's because I can't test it out for myself, but ultra mode seems very meh to me.
