Yes, it was mentioned to be a stealth power. But we don't know exactly how it's going to work yet, so it's best not to assume how it will.

But if it isn't true, the issue name makes zero sense in relation to what we do know is going to be in it.

On Liberty:
Aardwolf - level 50 claws/invulnerability scrapper
Anchor - level 50 level gravity/forcefield controller
Dr. Dusk - level 50 mercenaries/dark miasma mastermind

I'm going with "no" - this speculation about "doppelgangers" just doesn't sound like a nemesis system.

Why not, mechanically speaking there are only a few ways it can work. And it seems reasonable to assume that ti will be on a similar level to the existing bonus inherent powers.

The only powers of that low a magnitude are the phase shift powers and they provide something useful aside from stealth. The only alternative would be if it were a short duration click power rather than a toggle.
If it follows the trend, it will be a limited utility power. Every "extra" power gotten through a preorder or special edition and to a lesser degree the booster packs, has been of limited utility (reskinned sprints, TP to PocketD, TP to Mission Door, Jump Pack, Self-Destruct, Tarot Card Buffs). There's no reason to expect this one to be any different. Useful, especially in the lower levels, but situational.

Actually I would argue the opposite, if a stealth power is useful at all it will be in the higher levels when you've got something to stack it with and/or have Recall Friend. Besides, all stealth powers are inherently situational. They do jack in a kill all mission

On the other hand, Ninja Run.

I doubt we would ever get anything 100% identical to CO's Nemesis system.
But I could easily see a CoX "doppelganger" system become our equivalent to it.

While it might be fun to stand in a room and fight NPC clones of my characters that by itself would not be very fun for long. I would suspect that the "doppelganger" system would be introduced as a series of missions, a TF or some other kind of random encounters that would expand the concept out longer than just one massive fight scene.

A follow up, from War Witch:

"Just to clarify before speculation runs toooooo rampant, we're not doing a Nemesis-type system for Issue 17."

That's fine. Very vague and leaves lots of possibilities that are not 'quite' a Nemesis system, but fine.

This is rather disheartening, but it doesn't rule it out as a possibility for future issues.

I see what she did there.

Copied from another thread ^^; heh. No idea, I would guess it's in game?

Perhaps the Dark Mirror is a reference to the Praetorian AVs we've come to know and love. They could be gearing up for some type of major assault on our world, and the "more missions" could be things to do that would either slow them down, or perhaps introduce us to the Resistance or other factions we'll be seeing more of in Praetoria.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Only if you interpreted the title "Dark Mirror" and the "nefarious new foe" who can match us "blow for blow" quotes as being some sort of nemesis/rogues gallery rather than some kind of doppelganger

It could have been either, but Nemesis would have been the more interesting result.

The title "Dark Mirror" does not imply a nemesis system, and neither does an enemy that can match us "blow for blow"

I don't know how the NCSoft store will work - if Aion's any indication, there'll be two separate preorder options (one for regular, one for complete.)

If you preorder the physical box, most stores will let you say "Y'know, upgrade my preorder to the complete edition."

And if you pay $399 for it, you've been overcharged just a bit. >.>

Agreed... but hopefully they're not ruling it out as a feature in a future issue.
