Redside 'classic' farming.

Okay, I'm massively poor redside so thinking about farming. I have a 50 fire/fire brute and 50 fire/thermal corruptor. Due to exclusively teaming and doing other people's missions, neither of them has done any 45-50 contacts except their patrons.

I imagine the brute would be better for farming. Whose missions would you recommend for 'classic' farming?

Outside of MA, there are three redside missions that are fairly common:

* Liberate Television (from Television): Dreck-style map full of Nemesis
* Eliminate demons, secure cargo (from Tavish Bell): cargo ship map full of CoT Possessed Scientists (problem with this mission is there are three or so different types of scientists, but a given map will only have one; the type is randomly picked when you accept the mission, and you're stuck with that kind. Because one or two of the types can be problematic due to their slows and mezzes, most people avoid this map these days)
* "Platform mission" (BS's 3rd patron arc): a Shadow Shard mission via the portal in Nerva, filled with Nemesis. Not as popular anymore due to the ability to select a virtual team size (previously this mission was popular because the number of mobs spawned on the platform is fixed to a rather large number regardless of team size)

Basically, redside lacks the multitude of easily-farmable large outdoor missions (Praetorians, Council, Council Empire, etc) that blueside has, so you're basically limited to Nemesis (there are one or two missions with some Freakshow in Television's arc but the XP on Freakshow was lowered with I16).

Missions listed by Mac are the best(if you can handle them - Nemesis can be tedious for def based characters).

You can also consider farming paper missions (council, carnies, CoT, malta, arachnos), Borea's RWZ repeatable missions, missions with council from Television and Vernon Von Grun. Escaped! (Creys) arc wasn't bad for farming, albeit farming creys was somewhat slower for me than farming Nemesis or Council.

I also heard that people use the last mission of Operative Grillo's last arc to farm Snake bosses, creatively called the Snake Farm.

I'm not a farmer myself, so I can't say how that one compares to those in mac's list.

The only potential reason you might farm the Snake map is for Pool C drops as the back room is filled with bosses.

I keep this map on several of my brutes as a benchmark, rather than a farm. If I can solo this at x/8 difficulty, my build is doing pretty well. What makes this particular enemy so difficult is the tremendous amount of AoE toxic damage the snakes do, coupled with the hard-hitting lethal sword attacks.

I rolled and designed a DM/SD brute specifically to handle this map (this map presented a challenge for me to solve). While I am pleased with its performance, I have come to the conclusion that a SS/SD or SS/SR would be superior in this situation due to the reliable mitigation of knockdown for the snakes, which I now think is more valuable than siphon life.

If you think your brute is pretty tough, I recommend giving this map a try at even 2/8, and actually stand in the middle of the map. Bonus points if you tank the AV throwing psi damage at you at the same time.

the snake farm is decent, but very hard to do unless your a brute with very high toxic/lethal resists

the eggs themselves dont give xp anymore, but if you pop the eggs they spawn boss ranked enemies, and on x8 spawn there cuold easily be 30-40 total eggs in that room (i do not advise soloing that unless you can handle mobs of 10+ bosses/LTs (depending on difficulty settings) with high toxic dmg unless you have outside buffs)

the snake farm is very rewarding, but its also prolly one of the more difficult farms (at least since the egg xp nerf)

I use the Platform mish from Black Scorpion on my Stone/Fire Brute. It has several excellent spots next to stairs that allow for tight grouping of enemies for using Tremor/burn/fault/burn. The map also places a large group of enemies in a small area so runs can be faster if all you do is work the platform and repeat.

I use the Liberate TV mish on my Dark/fire brute. This map requires a lot of running around and if you do not pay attention/take your time you can miss some mobs but is very fun. My toon also has elec fences from Scirroco's Patron pool so I can eliminate the running away problem when I use burn.

As long as you have temperture protection and half way decent recharge in healing flames I would shoot for one of these two. You should be able to handle the nemesis pretty well.

The possessed scientist mission, as mentioned by Mac, can be a crap shoot depending on which builds the scientists end up with and since you did not mention which patron you chose(I imagine you finished the arc) my final answer would be the TV mish. You can farm several of those along the way. Run the Freaks/DE map a few times. Run the Family/nemesis map a couple times.

Then settle in to the Liberate TV mish and make your money. You can run that map once a day, at say 0 +6, sell the reg 50 IO drops craft the stuff that will sell, sell extra Chronal Skips, Photonic weapons and you will have a nice litle nest egg in no time without burning your self out with multiple runs day after day....but you can do that too if it floats your boat. My two Brutes always have 90+ mil on them and they bankroll most of my alts on two accounts and 90 mill is chump change for a lot of folks around here but I wont farm for weeks at a time. Sometimes months...

theres another mish that uses the nemesis platform in dark watchers arc (also has an EB/AV of manti on the top of the platform), this one anyone can get since its in RWZ

There are a number of options that have been mentioned, but here are my current favorites red-side if you're farming for drops and inf (in no particular order):

*Paper misssions with Council. Council are an easy target and your Fire/Fire brute should have the requisite resistance/healing and damage output to run through a map of +2/x8 with no problems. The bonus to his is the mission complete bonus which gives you a little extra cash. The only downside is the occassional choice of missions that doesn't include Council as one of the options.

*If you haven't done any of the RWZ missions yet, Levantera has 2 good missions in her arc that are quite farmable. You get her as your first contact just for going in there. You'll do a series of errands before you get any actual good missions from her, but it only takes about 5 mins. to knock those out. Farming Rikti is rewarding, they drop a little more XP and Inf than other factions...of course, this also depends on how tough you've built your Brute and if you can take the energy and S/L damage that you'll be receiving from Rikti. There is a mission about 2 or 3 into Levantera's arc on a burning forest map. This gives you large groups spawned close together in a convenient set up. The end-mission on this is a 'kill named boss' so just be careful not to kill him and you can repeat this again and again. If you do, there is an outdoor industrial map that has you kill 3 bombs and 3 captives in order to complete. The setup isn't quite as convenient, but it has a ton of Rikti on it and has a number of good corners to herd multiple spawns to.

*TV farm is always a classic with the Nemesis on Dreck's map...I always get annoyed at the multiple firings of Veng, so not really my favorite.

*Finally there is the AE - no you won't get drops outside of Influence and tickets, but the tickets can be cashed in for some decent things...TF recipes or rare salvage. Best part is you can fight against factions that would be weak to your fire or things that your highly resist, like fire.

Black Scorpion's platform is much better populated with memesis than paltform from Dark Wathcer though

I'm guessing I've not progressed far enough to get the TV Nems mission. That, or I went too far. The mission I have right now has Freaks and (I think) Arachnos, and I have to rescue the two "stars".

I was thinking that was the farm map, but after reading this thread, I'm thinking it's not...

It's two missions after Maemae van Whooters and Dr. Big McLargehuge. (I still chuckle when I see those names.)

I agree with much of this. Papers are an excellent change of pace and the Perigrine Mayhem can be a juicy run with bigger spawns. RWZ has a couple options as you mentioned and even running Borea's timed missions can be productive, I do those with my SS/elec brute. Personally, I would still say nemesis in the liberate TV is the best bet of the true "farm" maps available for his Fire/Fire. The Veng issue isn't much of an issue if you have some AOE damage and Fire/Fire should have enough.

and a pocket full of AE tickets will not only make you money but will save you money when you need that certain piece of salvage that the market has driven up the price on during the week you happen to need it.

Bottom line ask around and see if you know someone who has these missions. Ask if they will chaparone/let you try a run your self. Find one you like and get it locked in then bounce around to some of the readily available options (paper, Borea, AE) and have fun.

the bottom line is that almost anything you find fun to repeat a lot is technically a good farm (i mean even just sitting around the fab in grandville could be productive farm if you can handle the bane spider executioners and paragon protector elites)

I also think it's a good idea to switch up farms periodically between tech and arcane groups. I hate having too much salvage from either pool. I like crafting decent set recipes to store and sell and it helps to mix it up so that you get it for free instead of having to pay for it. Especially lately where salvage can sell for 1 influence on Monday and you can't buy one for 500,000 on Friday.

Doing different groups and maps also breaks up the tedium of farming in general.

Cool. Now I know that I can move on. Thanks!

And yeah, whoever did that arc is an MST3K fan!
