Eh... maybe. Probably not, though. Not a lot of Heroes actually bother to do those first few contacts at all, and then just pick whichever missions they like best in later levels regardless of origin.

Now, the fact that the "I'm not really cooperating with Arachnos" path consists only of Mongoose and Doc Creed on Mercy Island, that's a little bit more frustrating. While a lot of your later work is totally freelance, most of the times Arachnos does get mentioned it's with a reminder that you're part of the Destined Ones program whether you like it or not, even if they look the other way while you take some jobs on the side.

Well, that's actually fitting in with the character of redside, the Patron Arcs, and Recluse's entire history - he's going to use you whether you like it or not.

What would be nice is if they just made some simple change to the start of the Patron Arcs - if you picked Burke at the beginning, instead of being offered a chance to pick an Arachnos patron, the Arbiters concoct some sort of scheme that you get wrapped in and force you to. Just a little nod to the fact that you did not, in fact, wilfully choose to embrace the "Destined One" story.

L1-25: once choice of zones. Mercy->PO->Cap->Sharkhead.
L25-30: Two choices. Sharkhead or Nerva. One has a Market, the other has a witch you can visit once and a special day job spot (Crey Employee).
L30-35: Two choices. Nerva or St. Martial. One has a Market, a Tailor and Crafting tables, the other has a miles of forest with one contact and a generic vendor and a spot to turn in costume slot salvage.
L35+: No less than four zones with level-appropriate content.

To please the most players, I'd first throw in a new starter zone (L1-8 or 1-10) and a new L15-25 zone to quiet the folks that hate Mercy and Sharkhead. They've been the most vocal, so I believe they might be the most passionate about it.
Then I'd work on a L10-20 zone for an alternative to Cap Au Diable, but give it plenty of resources (Market, University, etc.) to allow it to compete with Cap's functionality.

Those three zones would do it for me, though, with the possible exception of the Shadow Shard. I don't want the same bloat of almost-unused zones like blueside, especially if it would lose the "Small island chain" feel of the Rogue Isles.

Hmm, I could agree with that.
Hell, even make it Mercy South and Mercy North! Stick in another damn hospital and make the lifts go up a level to the South.
Hmmm....

Mercy North = 1-12
Port Oakes = 1-12

Mercy South = 12-20
Cap au Diable = 12-20

Sharkhead = 20-30
Nerva = 20-30

Martial 'Rich District' = 30-40
Martial 'Slums' = 30-40

Grandeville = 40-50

Add in a ton more contacts and the options are limitless. Zones with anything as small as a 5 level range tend to be outgrown pretty fast. A wider range allows for more arc completion, more arcs, more goodies.

Villainside is much better designed than Heroside. Heroside is difficult for me to play, because until you get to Peregrine Island you just don't know where you're supposed to be and what you're supposed to be doing. It just feels like you're tooling around the city, doing some hero work along the way. The mission arcs tend to be worse, with some exceptions, and are rife with meaningless filler. Most importantly, Heroside has no real progression for your character in it. All that really changes are your enemies. Redside genuinely makes you feel like you're going somewhere. By the end of it you've brought the Circle of Thorns to their knees, destroyed the high leadership of Longbow, taken out nearly every single hero in Paragon, worked with the most powerful figures of Arachnos, become one of the heads of Arachnos, and killed future Lord Recluse and thrown the bloody helmet at the modern Recluse's feet to tell him to back the hell off because you're beyond his power now. You become a story-acknowledged worldshaking figure who is one of the most powerful superhumans ever to exist.

The only thing Heroes have going for them is a much more active market, easier teams, and much better EPPs. For all that Redside is better written, Blueside is enormously popular simply because it's got better powers and loot.

That stands for Epic Power Pools, right? Because unless heroes suddenly learned how to throw sharks at people, I disagree. Especially as Gloom is pretty much the best, most reliable DPS power out there. It singlehandedly makes Brutes better than Scrappers. (okay, there's other reason brutes are better, but adding Gloom to any brute attack chain instantly makes it better than the corresponding scrapper chain)

*SIGH*
We all know including the devs know that villains need work...but the devs will not give villains a whole issue to sort the issues out.

Villains r good size zones, i hate steel etc far too big.

trouble is that when someone sees a slightly empty zone they go to heroes...yerr that really boosts the numbers of villains.... -.-

I think he's commenting on the fact that Heroes dont need to do a mission arc to unlock patron pools.
Then again, Heroes had to do missions to unlock higher level SO stores... I say had, because now with the VG base and Cimerora, you dont actually NEED to even touch them with a ten foot pole.

Also, concept wise, EPPs are much less rigid. Ok, if you have a lightning/shadow character you can sorta fudge GW and Scirroccos power stuff, but Blueside has the traditional fire, ice, weapons etc.

I would like a little more evil on the Red Side. I want the detention cells in Arachnos bases full of innocent people, I want the down-trodden to look even more miserable than they would in Paragon. I want people snatched by the various baddies and actually converted (ie CoT, Coralax, Lost, etc). I want to see Arachnos soldiers actually laying the smack-down on any villain groups that get outta line like Longbow in Atlas. I would like some environmental dangers that appear from time to time, like lava from Mt. Diablo, or whirlpools off the coast of Sharkshead. Overall, I am beginning to feel that Red-Side is just Blue-Side with a different narrative and color scheme.

That an other thing, I think villians need better EPPs, or more. None of the villians EPPs fits most of my guys. Just dark, elece, tech, and water. I know GW, are teaching you their powers but I like to learn my powers : P

I have a similar problem. Red-side content, while certainly more focused and to the point, well...sucks. You're a mercenary, plain and simple. Most of the original blue side content similarly sucks (for different reasons), but the side content of blue side is IMO excellent and more than enough to take you through the game.

My level path for a hero is Atlas, Hollows, Faultline, Croatoa/Striga, RWZ/Cimerora with a TF/Ouro arc spliced in here and there. It's more than enough content and it's fun. You get the be the star, instead of someone's lackey.

And this is why I can't wait to move every single one of my villains to Paragon. Most as Rogues, but some as full blown heroes.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

I am expecting the "great blue exodus" when GR comes out.

That would be my bet. Of course only real numbers from NCsoft would tell the tale. Of course they don't release those numbers so my own /search will have to do.
