At least for me, as a Dr. Who fan.
Rather a violent regeneration, wasn't it?
SG Mate: Cien, what the hell is this Rookery thing?
RadDidIt: (interjecting) Dude. It's the Rookery.
SG Mate: Yeah, but what IS it?
RadDidIt: Silliness Incarnate.
He had a lot of radiation built up in his body, it was probably the release of that or something.
I have to agree with Rook, Tennant made a great Doctor..he will be missed, even though the kid replacing him looks promising...

Best Doctor ever, he will be missed. Hope the new guy is good, he has big shoes to fill.

Villains : AtomBomb (50 Rad/Kin corruptor), Aleks (50 SS/Inv brute), StoneLethal (50 EM/Stone brute), Davroz (50 Bots/Dark mastermind)
Ugh, I will miss him, he was so fun to watch! I loved David as the Doctor!
David was fantastic as The Doctor. I do look forward to seeing the new season and the new Kid.
I do believe the violent was to set up for changes to the look of the Tardis etc...

I am a big Christopher Eccleston fan so when David replaced him I was very disappointed, but I have to admit David Tenant did a great job. My daughter actually starting watching Dr Who with me, because one day dad was watching one of his dumb scifi shows and "wait thats the guy from Harry Potter !!!!!!", she has been a fan ever since. David has done very well and I believe this has actually expanded his acting capabilities significantly. My only hope is that the writers can reattain their expertise from the first season. "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances" are by far the best eps ever written, IMO.
Then you should be happy to know, Dragonslay, that the new head man now that Russell T Davis is gone is one mr. Stephen Moffat. The man responsible for writing The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances, along with the Silence in the Library two-parter, the Girl Inside The Fireplace, and (in my opinion the best of the new series so far) Blink.

Expanded his acting capabilities? Are you serious? David Tennant was Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Dr Who let him showcase his talents but expanded them? Hardly, he was an incredible actor before he was on television.

Yep yep. He was also Davina which I'll let folks look up. :P
Oh yah sorry Pogo I guess I shoulda listed spoilers. It IS the last 2 mins of Part two of the End of Time. I'll go back and edit my first post.
Ther is also a trailer clip for the new fellow on youtube as well and I believe the Blink angels are back sometime next season as well as Daleks which I have personally grown a bit tiresome to me.

All of them have since aired on BBC and BBC America in the US. The Next Doctor and Planet of the Dead are available now in the US on DVD, with Waters of Mars and End of Time coming out on Feb 2nd, along with a full set of all 4(which could be considered a "season" set I guess.)
Or you could find alternate means, of course...
I never was a gigantic Dr Who fan until a few years ago. Sure, I'd seen them here and there (even the black and white ones), but I never got into it. Well I got into it when I started watching Fourth Doctor runs on PBS at midnight on Saturdays. Sure, it was mostly because I was too drunk to move properly without vomiting (Saturday was when I had people over for drinking), but something about it just started clicking. This was some seriously good stuff. With all those years of unwatched Dr Who, I had all sorts of "If I haven't seen it, it's new to me!" episodes.
Well, it didn't take long until I started watching the new stuff on BBC America. I started watching those right around when the whole Bad Wolf thing made its first real bombshells. Freakin' great stuff. I wasn't so sure about this spiky haired goofball who became the Doctor, though. He looked...odd.
Then I actually saw his episodes. Everything that struck me about the Fourth Doctor's oddities started resurfacing. Sure, he didn't look quite as strange as Tom Baker, but he acted every bit as erratic and was genuinely entertaining to watch. Not a second with David Tennant on screen felt like it was wasted. I could watch this Doctor do just about anything.
Well, long story short, the Tenth Doctor became one of my favorites. If you put a gun to my head I'd say he's my second favorite with the Fourth being in first, but hindsight may actually prove him to be my favorite. Just enough references to the old stuff (Water of Mars had him say he hated "funny" robots except for dogs comes to mind) and plenty of fresh material (The Doctor in love? The Time Lord Victorious? Holy crap!) made him a great addition. Even his companions were memorable, which I personally thought was a lackluster element to some incarnations.
So, in the end, thanks David. You'll be missed and I promise to try my hardest to hate at least the first three episodes of the new guy.
And much credit to Russel Davies, the writing has always been great but these last few episodes were just amazingly well written.

. . . I didn't know David had done any stage work, the only other thing i saw him in was Harry Potter. Well he did great as the doctor whether it was work for him or just a walk in the park. He certainly had fun playing the doctor, it showed in every episode.
This "new season" was actually several TV movies instead of normal episodes. The Next Doctor(Christmas special), Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars, and End of Time parts 1 and 2.

I wouldn't say the writing has ALWAYS been good...
In fact, frankly, I won't be too sorry to see Davis go. It means Jack "Most boring character ever" Harkness probably won't be coming back.

I'm not quite sure the world is ready for the new season's Daleks though...

Much as I hate bursting bubbles (yeah, right!), I saw a teaser for the next season, and I'm pretty sure I saw Jack.

These are about the saddest 5 words spoken on that show.
