Global Vault and/or Bank

It sure would be nice to have a global bank account or vault to put things into so you could share between your characters.

Having to create a Super Group to do so is a tad annoying since you can't invite yourself to it if you only have 1 account.

I just think it would be nice to deposit funds or items into a "vault" or "bank account" so that you don't have to ask for people to help you transfer infamy/influence.

It would really come in handy when you want to pass something to a character on another server as well, without buying a server transfer/using a server transfer token.

Just my 2 cents.

This suggestion comes up with great regularity, along with the ability to email inf to other characters. It's pretty regularly shouted down but most other successful games have both features, even NCsoft's own Aion. My guess is that it's somewhere on Positron's massive to-do list, but it might be on page 35.

I'd GLADLY buy a booster pack that had global vaults for my account, blue and red sides.

No one actually tries to shoot this idea down. We all hope that one day the devs will change their minds and give us this feature.

I like this idea. It is great : D
Champions have it!

It is sad that many poeple don't like this idea. Or many it just when I post the idea hehehe.

I sure would be nice if you could use one level 50 character to finance all your other characters. Then you can flood the market with all your unwanted crap, always buy the best enhancements for all your characters. In other words...no.

We get it. You like Champions. In fact you like it so much you stay here playing a game that you claim, in other threads, you find boring.

You all may hope so, but We all hope they do not. And by We, I mean I.

Seriously, people, can we stop presuming to speak for a silent majority? It's disconcerting.

This is an internet MMO Sam. We will never find anything that people agree with 100%.

The main point I was trying to make, albiet poorly, is that people don't go around regularly shouting down this idea.

What usually happens is that some people try to be helpful and explain what the devs have said in the past as to why they didn't add this feature and offer in game alternatives, then some twits get huffy that everyone doesn't automatically agree with them and accuses them of "shouting" down their ideas.

...I'm trying to see a downside to that.
Less hassle when creating your characters (SOs especially, initially at least, are a swine to fully slot with.)
Being able to swap IOs that you need on other characters TO the other characters, with less hassle.
...Yeah.

No. NO BOOSTER. If it is added to the game it has to come a a regular update, like a new issue or even how they added the "walk" power. Something like this should not be placed on a booster.

IIRC the ability to email items/inf to other characters was on the "to-do" list. I believe it was mentioned in an article discussing some of the features for/after GR. Not 100% certain ... I will try to locate the article.

What it is is a slippery slope. It would also be easier if we could have the option to start all our characters at 50 so we wouldn't have the hassle of actually playing the game to get all the powers we want.

In the "Wouldn't It Be Great If..." podcast the devs comment on both item mailing and global storage.

The mailing system is coming, one of the programmers there had already been assigned that task. Account based inventory is possible, though seems unlikely due to comments they make in the same podcast about recipe storage. The Devs are afraid that if they give us more storage we will hoard, driving market prices even higher. Plus they cite our current ability to transfer items as the reason our starting storage is so pitiful, so I doubt increased ease of transferring would be coupled with greater inventory space.

Thank you. I was sure I had heard/read that the in-game emailing of items was coming.

yeah! It's great that there's no way to transfer inf from one toon to another at present.

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

You can already finance all your lower-level alts with a 50 without the in-game emailing of items/inf. This just makes it more efficient and not having to rely on a friend or second account to do the trading.

I assume that's sarcasm, since you already can transfer wealth from one character to another.

Here's my stock answer to this suggestion: "Meh."
Here's my reasons for that answer:
1) We can already do it.
We can transfer wealth (in the form of $Inf or valuable items that can be later converted to Inf) in several ways.
A) Same Server, Same Faction: Put them in a SG together, drop items (Enhancements, Salvage) into base storage.
B) Any Server (except Test), Same Faction: Use the Market to sell a low-demand item from the poorer character, pay a percentage transfer fee as the rich character buys the junk item for an extravagant amount.
C) Any Server, Any Faction: Arrange a transfer via another player. Check your server forums or global channels to easily find a trustworthy player, or use one of your friends.
Edit: D) Same Server, Same Faction: Use a second account to make the transfer.
((Thanks, Forbin! ))

2) We don't need to do it.
Any character can be monetarily self-sufficient by selling thier Recipe and Salvage drops at the Market. Not a hint of "marketeering" needed. Just use the darn thing normally and you will profit enough to set up with rather decent IO sets pre-50.
I admit that it would, however, be very convienient to be able to instantaneously transfer all character income wherever I felt the urge.

3) How much storage would be sufficient in this bank?
That's my question. Some folks have one character, some have a lot. If I have 12 characters on each of 10 Servers, and each character has storage for a minimum of 30 pieces of Salvage and 2 Billion $Inf, I currently could hold 3600 pieces of Salvage and 240 Billion $Inf, not counting the fact that personal Salvage can be twice that figure of thirty, nor "Tax Shelters" within the Market.
If the storage size of my Global Bank is dependant on how many characters I have, I could easily and quickly make a dozen throwaway characters on Servers that I don't frequent. I guess the EU players would be at a huge disadvantage there.

Let's say that there is no "Global Bank" per se, and you retain the current storage system. And instead, you add a mailing system for $Inf and items.
*Would there be a postage fee? What would determine the size of the postage for items? For currency, it's a straight percentage when you transfer $Inf via the Market.
*What happens when you try to mail Items or Inf that would put the recipient over the storage limit?
I can see myself right now creating a couple of throwaway characters for hoarding, and I'm not much of a hoarder. Increased hoarding would make decreased market supply, meaning higher prices. Higher prices will encourage hoarding, IMO.

D) ....I'm sure I'm forgetting one, so I'm reserving a space here.
That would be

D) Use a second account to make transfers without involving a possibly untrustworthy second party.

I remember one of the devs said almost the exact same thing during I9 closed beta testing when players were asking why the storage was so limited, and there was no recipe storage at all. So it seems they haven't changed their minds.
