Do lvl 53 set IO's exist...

....or is it just a bug in the market? None of them have any history available, and I've never seen 51 or 52 IO's even listed, it just sometimes skips up to 53 for certain sets.

51-53 IOs do not exist as drops and cannot be bought via merits but they are part of the database which is why the markets list them.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

No, they don't. However, they can be bid upon, due to a bug in the system. Some people use them to store Influence/Infamy, as they can place a 2 Billion Inf bid, and know that they'll never buy the thing. That is why you can see them showing up.

Warning: if one character puts two 2billion inf bids on the SAME item, the system will combine them. And then you can't undo the bid without losing a lot of inf. (If you bid, for instance, 1 billion on each of ten things, storing 10 billion, and you undo the bid, you're put at the max inf cap of 2 billion and the other 8 billion disappears into the system. )

Sounds like the game could use a bank where players could store inf. instead of having to work around the system like that.

Sounds like the Developers like their 2 billion inf cap, but don't mind if the players use a system for a non-intended use as long as they don't expect to be compensated if they ever let those 53s back into the open

I expect they'd be more likely to just remove useless chaff from the CH db, vs. throwing the whole IO shebang on edge with the higher-than-50 crowd.

Until they fix the bug.

That's a clever use of the system, but man, I'd scream bloody murder if I saw 40B disappear after a patch...

hmm this gives me an idea! buy a level 53 enh then..... put it up and get 2 billion infamy/influence is 1 hit!

Careful. A level 53 enhancement (such as an SO) does exist (or you couldn't sell one). If you try to buy one for 2B influence, if there are any others for sale you will buy the one with the lowest asking price. In other words, make sure no one else is selling what you buy unless you want to give someone else 2B inf.

It's not a bug, it's a positive benefit of the markets working as designed.

What bug? Level 53 set enhancements exist in the game. That's why you can view them on the market. There just isn't anything in the game anywhere that drops level 53 recipes.

The same goes for the Black Market/Wentworth's teleport inspirations. The inspirations exist, but nothing drops them. Instead, you can buy a Black Market/Wentworth's teleport power.

So if some really really one-in-a-million type bug occurs and you actually get a level 53 set IO recipe or BB/WW TP inspiration, you'd best not tell anyone. Instead, make a beeline to the nearest BB/WW and put it up for 1 inf!

Depending on the IO, it may well be worth 2 billion or more. After all, it's the only one in the game! ^_^

I mean, if I had a 2 billion bid on something like that and actually bought it... I might offer it up in the Market forums and see if anyone wanted to bid 2.5 billion on it... for certain players the .2% or whatever difference it might make would be tempting....
