The more the merrier. The more stuff put on the market in these levels, the healthier things should be.

Outstanding work on the base... Thanks for your efforts. The only suggestion I can make concerning the portals is to put them in alphabetical order. That way I think it is easier to find then trying to remember the order they are in now.

That is how my SG has their portals set up and it works well, espcially since most of ur are in other SG's... just an idea

Actually, I was thinking about going based on level.

That's how I generally do it: Atlas/Galaxy, Hollows/Perez, Skyway/Faultline, Steel/Boom, etc. . . .

In my base, I went alphabetical, since I found that when i tried to sort the zones by level, I always ended up with the odd zone that did not match up to anything else. I really wish they would raise the limit of 2 zones per telepad to something better like 4-6 each.

The flaw with that concept is that you assume that the player needing the portal (me ) rememebers what zone goes with what level... but there are moments when the player (me again) has a senior moment and forgets...

But you know whatever works for the masses

Again though, if they're low to high, you just keep going until you get to the appropriate level. And it's not like you're doing "I need an L25+ zone", you're usually doing something like "I need to get to Croatoa".

Okay, I know that some of the people given base edit rights are busy with stuff. But a "just put stuff down" base makes my fingers itch. And my fingers are VERAH itchy.

So, I hooked our venerable SG super-leader and wrestled him into submission for base edit rights. It went something like this:

Flamin' Trolla: Can I haz base edit rights? Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease?
Protection Racket: Sure!

* You have been promoted to Line Manager
* You have been promoted to Manager
* You have been promoted to Vice President
* You have been promoted to Director

Flamin' Trolla: Thanks!

High-res (1920x1080) versions of these pics can be found here.

Anyhow, the SG had in excess of 2 million prestige. So I had QUITE a bit of wiggle room.

First off, I upgraded to the 8x12 plot.

As you can see, it's really meant to be three functional corridors.

Down the left, the workshop areas.

Down the right, the transport areas. And yes, now now have our own array of teleport bays.

In order from far right (north).

  • Steel Canyon
  • Talos Island
  • Atlas Park
  • Pocket D
Essentially all transport hubs (and the ones that were in the teleporter room when I initially found it).

  • Skyway City
  • Kings Row
  • Independence Port
  • Peregrine Island
  • Founders falls
  • Rikti War Zone
  • The Hollows
  • Faultline
  • Brickstown
  • Croatoa
  • Perez Park
  • Dark Astoria
Note: They're not really in any hard-and fast order, and if anyone wants to propose a better setup, lemme know.

Lastly, the main corridor is the Infirmary. Right now it's got a whopping ONE reclaimator in it. But it's right next to the Inspie storage which'll do until we can come up with an Auto-Doc.

And yes, since we had the prestige, I splurged and built us a Turbine generator. We should be more than good for base power for quite a while with this.

Finally, I dropped the supercomputer in for more compact control and finished it off with an Pillar.

As such, MLC is an effectively self-sufficient base now. Thanks largely to the hard work of everyone out there running in SG mode.

Also, you'll note, we're still in more or less the same basic color/style scheme we were originally. I'm not Mr. Super-Schmexy Base Design guy. I'm a "The base works, it's functional, and usable" kinda guy.

I also more or less left the workshops alone as to what storage items went in which room. If there's some over-arching organization that I cannot see, somebody tell me. If not, I'm going to probably clean them up a bit so they're less cluttered and obstructive.

Also, we still have 133K prestige socked away against future rent payments. I've also updated the MOTD. The base isn't really something you could get lost in or anything. But popping in the first time might corn-fuse people if they aren't ready for the changes.

Again, if you have suggestions, let me know here or in-game.
If you hate it and want something different, again, lemme know. I have almost zero pride on this. I just want to make the base something useful for everyone.

In-game, just shoot a tell at @Hyperstrike1.
Sweet, thanks HS.

Nice work on the base, Hype! Redside, we ain't so smanshy, but we are functional.

I'd like to propose a Katie run this week, as I'd like to get the accolade. My only week day that I'd be available at a decent hour would be Friday, so was thinking maybe 7 pm Eastern time. Any interest?

Once we get the prestige up a bit, it'll get there. Redside is a snap to get a fully functional base for.

I'm pretty much good any day of the week. This is the last week the parents are in town so most of my obligations of time and strong back (but mostly tech support for the mother's new computer) are done after tomorrow.

Sadly, I'll still be at work during the Katie...

In the meantime, would somebody with some clout Redside fix the
permissions on the salvage racks please - there are two of them
that can't be used by us "working grunts"

Thanks,

My computer is down, so I am taking the opportunity to move some computers around, fix up my network, and restart my computers to run Win 7. So I will not be getting on the fire/rads (or any CoX) for 2 or 3 weeks. This means I will miss the next couple of mondays running of the fire/rads. Good luck on the burning for those that can make it, and good marketeering to all.

For those still looking to do Fire/Rads I'll pick up the slack on Monday.

Not that it matters much anymore with super-sidekicking, but what's the level range for the fire/rads group these days?

Did the fire rads do anything last night? The Market channel was quiet. I asked if anything was up and didn't get a response. I didn't actually log into Tainted Candy though to see.

Normally I do a Virtue hami raid on Monday, but my schedule has been changed so that I get home an hour later, and lately hami raids have been filling up and starting up to an hour earlier than they used to. Last week we managed to cobble together a third raid for those of us who couldn't get in to the first two, but this week I opted out.

My other goal for the evening was to get my ma/wp scrapper on Freedom from 49 to 50, so I solo'd for an hour, but I didn't find a team and got bored. Then I got it in my head to make some cool pictures of each of my four high-level MA scrappers, because MA just looks cool. I was in the process of doing this with Tiffany Blackheart, a 46 ma/wp scrapper on Virtue, when I got a tell from a friend. Did I want to start a Posi TF?

It was already pretty late by this point, 8:30 PM and I like to be in bed by 10 PM. I knew that Posi takes a long time, although I've been on small teams that rushed everything and did it in about 2 hours. My friend plays with his roommate, and they are farmers and powerlevelers who like expensive builds and rushing things, and they've both been on a big "do every TF in the game" kick lately, so I figured they were prepared to run this fast. I asked if he thought we could do it in about 2 hours. Reply: "I've never done this one before, I have no idea."

Still, I figured 2 hours was a good guess. That would put me only about 1/2 an hour past my normal bed time. And I did want the badge for my scrapper. Against my better judgment, I said sure, I'd do it.

My two friends were also on scrappers, and they had another person on the team already, and were apparently looking for more. I asked if we had anyone who could stealth. Answer? No idea. I asked if they were going to fill out the whole team. Answer? Sure.

Okay, I've never attempted a Posi with 8 people, and we were adding anyone that wanted in, which means several lower level toons. Also, it was taking time to get things together. I began to have my doubts.

The... second or third mission, the one with the "rescue the FEMA workers" was pretty disasterous. I guess it usually is. Half the team had super speed and were trying to rush ahead, and the other half weren't able to bypass all of the CoT, and people kept dying. At one point we used a team teleport to bring everyone to the final room of the mission, but there was a chaotic fight in progress and everyone died.

After that we reached the first of the actually stealthable missions, and my friends again rushed ahead. Half the team got lost or died trying to follow. My friends are good players but not good leaders or communicators, and people were getting frustrated. The leader's response? "Don't worry, guys! Be happy!" (Literally, that's what he said.) A couple of us had to explain why it's best to stealth these missions, given the length of the TF, and calm people down before anyone rage-quit.

Anyway, once we got past the stealthable missions we started working more together as a team. We only lost one person and that was before we were even having any problems. Still, we didn't start until 9 PM and took 3 hours to finish, so I got to sleep pretty late. ^_^ But I got my badge, and my merits, and got partway into level 47.

Yeah. Sorry. As I said yesterday, the parents are in town and my name is currently changed to "Manuel Labor".

If it came down to a choice of the wrath of 7 other F-Rads or the wrath of Hyperstrike's Mom, the F-Rads are going to lose. Every time.

Look up the term "unspeakable horror", and there's a picture of my mom putting the smackdown on Chuck Norris.

"Manuel Labor" <--- Isn't he "El Presidente for Life" of Mexico (that's what I heard)???

btw - thanks for getting the storage permissions fixed Redside (you know
who you are).

I went and organized all the salvage alphabetically (from L 2 R facing the racks),
so it'll be easier to see what we've got while crafting your particular shinies.
I'm willing to volunteer to keep those organized (I'm already doing that with
inspies) if nobody else is so-inclined, or feels strongly about it.

We may (or not) want to set some consensus for how many pieces of any
particular item to keep - In some cases we have 5 or 6 of an item...

In my own VG (with a friend) we keep no more than 3 of anything, and try to
have at least 1 of everything (we use our own Vaults for rares), and that
seems to work well for the two of us, but I'm not sure if that works as well
here or how much crafting is likely to be done or how "excess" should be
handled... Anyway, just something to think about if deemed useful...
