Serious discussion about server migrations

Have to say I agree with JK, I've moved some toons over to freedum just to make space and for a little more pvp. But Pinn is where my namesake toons will stay for ever and always.

I love this community but the population drop too has made me consider moving to another server.

I'm not 100% sure, speaking this over with the 3 RL friends that still play

I'm just curious if others plan on making the leap to a specific server, cause you're all great people
I moved my Rad/Therm Corr to Freedom just so I'd have a toon on each side there. Undecided on the rest of my heroes.

Because I have no intention of repeating the dull PvE grind and re-doing Geas, Portal Jockey, Task Force Commander, Atlas Medallion, purples, PvP IOs, regular IOs on a re-rolled toon? Not to mention doing the same chain villainside as well...

If they hadn't nerfed the crap out of AE I actually would have given this more pause and not moved stuff. But now that I can't get a 50 in under 2-3 hours (much, some maps/circumstances aside) then there's really no reason to delete anything over level 30ish or so.

I'm probably going to re roll a brand new farm toon for there. With all that, it's mainly for PvP. THe rest of my toons are staying put here. Pinnacle is home. Freedom is for PvP.
Pretty much. You can roll into RV on Freedom at pretty much anytime and get on a team and fight dozens of other players. Here on Pinnacle, not so much. I'll go to the zones and they're empty most of the time outside of the odd Brute/Regen Scrapper. Arena is pretty dead too, outside of the odd friend to duel.

I'm keeping a few "for laughs" toons on Pinnacle just for fun PvP and keeping those attached to my SG/PvE groups...which I still have lots of fun with.

I’ve been on Pinnacle since the game was launched and nothing; I do mean nothing will get me to make a server change. I made a lot of friends on Pinnacle, some have left and some have remained. It‘s good to see some of my friends still around, but for those who have left, I met other people and became good friends with them. It’s an online game people will come, people will go, and you cannot expect everyone to stick around forever.

People say “Oh, the server is dying, the game is dying.” It is only if you think it is. Understand there are other games that came out and are still coming out. Some of your friends may have left or will leave to these games, but nothing is stopping them from coming back. And if you’re complaining it’s hard to fill a Task Force or a team, think about what time of year it is, it’s Christmas! And on top of that it maybe the wrong time of day or people just are not interested. You want to do something with people, join PinnBadges and force the message on people, make them feel welcome. And once there on a team treat those people with respect and not like crap, the second you treat someone on your team like there one of your workers, you’re done.

The thing about this game is you do not need to be in a super group villain or hero to get anything done. Sure having a base is nice and all, but is it required? Nope. Sure it’s nice to have people in a supergroup, but is it required? Nope. Age of Conan was the opposite; you were not in a guild that was fairly large you did not do raids, period. Here on this game being in a large supergroup is fine but it’s not required to do anything in the game. Of course if your hell bent on holding out till they get supergroup raids up and running again, but kind of silly in my opinion to wait for that or want a supergroup just for that purpose, but that‘s my opinion.

If you want to team, ask anywhere on broadcast, Pinnbadges, wherever! If you cannot get people to join, solo for a bit, sure it may be boring but have some patience. Hells while you’re soloing, strike up a conversation in Pinnbadges. I have zero problems with soloing, but I do ask folks to join on most things I am doing, if I get bites, great, if not, I‘ll either ask later or just keep going at my own pace.

If you’re depressed your friends left and there is nothing to do, you can change that, jumping over to another server is never the right answer, you can fix that yourself on the current server you are on, if you choose to take the time to do it.

Yes, I prattled on a bit here, but it a little shocking to me that people I know are jumping over to another server all because they got a “Free” ticket. You know it may be a matter of time before that server becomes as “dead” as you say Pinnacle is.

They can offer me free server tickets till the cows come home, but I won’t leave Pinnacle even if I am the last one remaining.

I will be moving a level 50 or two TO Pinnacle!

I already have a couple of my favorite alts, and sets of friends here.

There are a couple of servers, especially my first main server, Victory, where I stayed completely on at first, and are now over filled.
I will be using the transfers to even out WHERE I have my alts.
I will be opening up slots on my fuller servers.
I will be moving alts, especially higher alts to servers where I have fewer alts.
I will use this to even out my coverage of all the servers.

While I have more open slots on Pinnacle,
I have always liked this server, and will be bringing more alts here.

People need to stop thinking of Pinnacle as not having enough people, and instead think of it as being a way to get to know everyone on the server. I may not know everyone yet, but I sure do know a large portion of them! And for the most part everyone is always great to hang with, even KOIS.

Or at least tolerable ^_^

Because I have greatly enjoyed playing all of my characters and I do not believe in deleting a 50.

My wife deletes almost anything that no longer interests her regardless of level but it has caused some remorse on more than one occasion and I'm not going to do that to myself.

On another note, I ended up moving a few 50s off server, but I also ended up moving a couple I had built on other servers to Pinn. Now I have my empath and yet another scrapper here and probably will juggle a couple more characters back and forth before the free transfer period is over.

I think of this as more of a way to try to get a few more people to Pinnacle, rather than an opportunity to go elsewhere. if you have friends on other servers, why not have them move here? Why move to a server that may well be closed due to load during some events? Why not move to a server you know you can get to, and can still find teams on if you try?

I've posted several places and talked to several people and think at least some will move a character or two over here. Even if they're not regulars, we may well convert them.

The new hero Sg on virtue is called Pinnacles of Paragon. If you plan on moving pst to me, I've still got toons on pinnacle, but I'm likely focusing on Virtue with my intended job promotion taking me to overnights, and higher pop equals more people online during my hours of operation on days off. I've got 8 confirmed members from pinnacle, not exclusive to pinners, but any one migrating to virtue is welcome to be invited, and anyone with alts on virtue as well. PST to @Juggalo.

Because they won't convert. Just like you won't convert to another server.

The OP has stated his opinion. Matter of fact, it has a little bit of truth to it. Now I'm not saying it's dying per say, but Pinnacle is a low population server. And it's been that way for awhile now. It will continue to be that way until people on the forums say otherwise or for some reason, people start migrating here. Fact of the matter is, PvE wise...you can do whatever TF/Mission/ETC on Pinnacle just like any other servers. Pinnacle just happens to be...again a low pop server.

Pinnacle is my home server, but face it...it's not the same as it was. At the peak.

I might move some toons, I dont think people know me too well on Pinn server but my global is @King. I've been toying with the idea of moving to a bigger server, not because the population here is bad, in fact I love teaming with people here, but more for pure volume and selection of things to take part in/ or skip. Justice was actually my home server for the first couple years of the game for me, and we ended up moving here to pinn because some friends started up an SG.

Im still on the fence about this for sure.... so reading threads like this end up pulling my heartstring's both ways.

I don't think Pinnacle ever had a "peak" maybe at launch and when some issues hit, sure, but it was never heavily populated continuously.

Think about it this way, CO and Aion came out not long ago and there are console games that arrived too, so people are off playing those.

Other MMOs will becoming along with console games. When D3 hits, those populated servers will probably see a dip in their numbers.

Dunno for me Pinnacle population looks the same to me, some times I have trouble getting a group together for a TF, but its not like I did not have issues before.

Actually, I have characters on almost every server, if not all, and don't play exclusively on Pinnacle, although I'm there the majority of the time by far.

I did notice this evening that Pinnacle started out next to the lowest load, but later in the evening was solidly in the middle of the pack. Granted it's never been one of the top half consistently when I check those things, but neither is it consistently the lowest.

And, another friend transferred a character over to Pinn...that's a couple since yesterday.

That ... that would be like smothering your children!

Actually, I've done it a couple of times, once with a Katana scrapper and a Plant/Thorns corruptor. I just hate the constant redraw animations; even though I know it's now supposed to make any difference, it just bugs the hell out of me.

I did exactly once. A level 40 DB/WP scrapper got rerolled into a MA/WP scrapper because I wanted to use the exact name again and MA was more thematically appropriate after the animation options came out.

I moved a couple of my lower played villains on Liberty over to Virtue for a start-up VG with the other Screenshots and Fan art members. I chose them because I liked the characters, but haven't played them much, and this will get me to play them more often. I haven't moved anyone from Pinnacle, and don't intend to move my higher level characters, though I might swap one of my mid-level heroes for a mid-level villain on one of my other servers. I haven't fully decided yet.

Also, I rarely have trouble finding people to do any TF whenever the urge hits me. Takes at most 15-20 mins to get a full team - if it's a slower time.

I'm likely going to move a few toons off the server that don't get played much at this time to make room, and may bring one in. I moved from Virtue years ago, and have never regretted it. If the trolls ever move I may consider it, but that would be about it.

Yeah, anyone that thinks Pinnacle is dead, probably isn't reading the server channels or has a very different gametime schedule. I'll be the first to admit that I don't form teams, and generally don't answer the call when teams are forming, but there is almost always something going on in the channels.

I know there are others out there that do it, but Dee's name sticks in my mind. I appreciate her advertising for teams, with the attitude, "doesn't matter what you have just bring it".

I will be moving one of my less played 50s to Justice, so I can participate in the regular Hami Raids when I want. I may move a less played alt or two somewhere else so I have some more slots.

My girlfriend was talking about moving an INF mule to our Justice villains to give a little more leg up.

Other than that, we won't move away from Pinnacle, and we plan to be playing for a long time to come. We may have some short breaks before GR just to keep things fresh, and we may kick on our WoW accounts for 30-60 days because a 7day trial tells us we're addicted to getting Accomplishments (badges).

I love you guys. When I need teams, you've almost never let me down. And I know Bill and I feel the same way about having Global Channels for people to "hang out" with while we do our own thing solo or duo.

Now there's a good idea. Virtue is my back-up server and I have more money on Pinnacle villainside than I know what to do with. I may end up taking advantage of this offer after all.

Virtue and Freedom may have more people, but to be quite honest, the quality and knowledge of those players leaves a lot to be desired. Give me a Pinnacle Pug over any server anytime. Granted the pvp zones are full on those two pretty much 24/7. I moved about 20 toons off my accounts to other servers. I know Champion has a solid hero population and does probably more successful hami raids than any other server. Pinnacle is still home but moved a few pvp toons to freedumb and virtue, and i think i have a 50 on every server now to screw around with. Gotta say that was pretty cool of them to offer the free transfers. If anyone complains about dead servers now after this, they need a kick in the skull because here is their opp. to move to one that suits them better.

I have over 130 alts on my 1st account. I recently got a 2nd account started up (and haven't even cashed in on the 2 free character slots!)

My home server is Pinnacle, however, with it having 35 character slots used up (not too many 50's, maybe 5-6, all others are 1-49), I have to use all those other servers to create all my other alts on. Some of my alts are mere clones (mostly in name only, not sure if I have any TRUE clones [name+AT+origin+powersets+power colors+costumes]).

None of my toons are really bogged down with influence/infamy. ALL of my 50's are on Pinn (and I have no desire to move any of em, with the exception of one, and I'll have to think long on that one, plus see about replacing that one on Pinn. I can't just go moving a toon from Pinn to another server without keeping the name, you know?) Two of my 50's are intricately tied to my main, near solo SG on Pinnacle, then there's my namesake toon at 50 (who is STILL a member of the very first SG I joined in game when I started playing.) My two level 50 villains on Pinn are staying put.

I'll never delete a 50 toon. I have deleted toons before, though. I take into consideration various factors before I delete a toon, which suits me just fine. Plus there's the fact I have over 130 alts in game.

As to anyone thinking they need to move from Pinnacle due to the low pop issue - well ... don't let the door hit your backside on the way out. Pinnacle is the most awesome server in this game. If anyone absolutely needs to jump ship due to their friends moving servers ... people, just roll new toons. You can keep your toons here on Pinn. We'll even toast ya'll on your eventual return. If going through the grind just isn't your cup of tea, can't say I don't blame ya.

QFT. Every time I do a pick up group it's amazing. It's embarrassing to say so, but they tend to be better than the teams I make with my usual friends too.

I'm still around! Was running some AE arcs with Dee last night! With all my free slots spent here, how can I not roll alts here :-D

Yup. Regardless of my generally asocial attitude, I genuinely like a large bunch of the folks on PinnBadges. Those that I don't get the gignore boot. No harm, no foul.

Now if only everyone would gignore those I gignore....

Be well, people of CoH.
