Can I "transfer" a mission this way?

Character A & B are owned by me. Character A has a mission including a mob to kill for a badge. B wants the badge.

If A invites Character C, enters the mission and logs out, could C invite B into the mission? Or would the mission boot you out at some point?

This is largely academic at this point -- One of my characters needs Anti-Matter for the Portal Jockey badge. Another character of mine has the one-off mission where you fight Anti-Matter at the end of that mission rather than the long arc with AM at the end. My character who needs it is already 80% of the way through the arc via Ouro (up to Bobcat) and may as well finish it the regular way and get the merits but I started wondering last night if I could have made it easier on myself.

Yes, you can do that.

Bonus: both characters of yours will get the badge!

Not true.

If the OP had been talking about a badge mission, then you'd be right. But only people on the team and in the map when the enemy dies get credit for defeat badges.

If I recall correctly, just make sure that at least one character stays on the map at all times (ie. don't all hit the hospital at once).

Correct. I was only commenting on the latter half of Aett's reply. And the fact that someone has to stay IN the mission is a good point that we both missed.

Right.

Wrong. The OP specifically said it's a defeat badge. Only characters present when the enemy is defeated will get the badge.

Ummm... I have a contrary anecdote:

A wants the exploration badge of a low level Safeguard mission. B, a lowbie on that same account can open that mission. So, B opens the mission and invites C to hold it open (a toon on my other account). B logs off so that A can jump on. When B logs off, C gets kicked out of the mission and it's gone.

This was just two weeks ago.

I dunno, ZM, but I can say with complete certainty that in this exact scenario (the most common 'mission shuffling' activity) I've had zero problems allowing a toon into a mission owned by another toon on that account, whether in years past, or even just last week.

Have you had that issue more than once, or just the one time you're citing?

I do this all the time to get exploration badges from mayhems so I can get Invader. I just get a friend to sit inside the mission while I relog. I have 26 characters so I can knock out all but I think two of the level ranges just by getting mayhems on various characters.

Just the one time with a safeguard. Didn't try again since you have to run three missions first to get the safeguard back.

You have a friend that will sit there and wait as you log out and in two dozen times...for a badge?

You have nice friends.

Yes, and yes I do.

We ran a Safeguard/Mayhem event just Wednesday night on Freedom for the sole purpose of relogging alts and getting the explorations on whoever needed them. I hosted the mission from one toon, and relogged onto a different toon to get the badge while the team was still in my mission.

Several of us hosted various missions from the 18 total and it worked just fine whenever any of us relogged onto alts, regardless of which toon was actually hosting the mission. I'm not sure what happened in your case.

To be clear for the OP: When there are no players in a mission, the mission will only open if the mission owner is still on the team... even if it still shows up as the active mission. A "filler" character holding the mission for you must be ON the map when you log off, or the mission will no longer be valid when you try to enter the door.

Side note: Once we completed the Safeguard mission, my lower-lvl toon that actually hosted the mission still got the Temporary Power, even though it was logged off. The higher-lvl toon I was on when we finished it got it as well.

Just as a follow-up (which does nothing to address my OP), I finished that Anti-Matter arc, defeated AM and Neuron and...

...I was missing Malaise, not Anti-Matter I must have picked up AM back in the day on some random "We're doing missions in PI" PUG. Wish ther was an easier way to check on which AV's you still need for that badge. It's done now though!

I used this to get the Spelunker badge on a character that had outleveled the arc, back before Ouroboros. Yay for Ouroboros!

Or a second account that fills the same purpose. That's how I've been getting the exploration badges for all my guys.
