PvP on Virtue

Hi Virtue! My main toon is on this server and likely always will be. Actually almost all my toons are as I've only made toons on other servers to play with girlfriend who I convinced to move her main here (WIN!). I'm not a hardcore RPer but I really like how much people get into it.

Anyway, my question is regarding PvP... most say to make a toon on Freedom for PvP but I very much enjoy sticking to one server when it comes to MMOs so I'm curious as to why that is. Do people not PvP at all on Virtue or is it just that it's more of a focal point on Freedom like how RP is here?

Global @radubadu
Usually playing one of the following toons blueside on Virtue:
Cadler 50 WP/SS tanker
Radubadu 46 Fire/Fire blaster
Hell Runner 35 Fire/Fire brute

The PVP zones are usually pretty dead, but I know there's alot who do Arena PVP.

I've PvPRPed before, which was fun because my hero got to develop a small Rogues Gallery through one, and just had fun watching two friends spar and being a part of a jeering crowd.

But on a whole, I would never PvP with someone who was in it to win it. Like everything in this game, I play to have fun. Playing to "pwn" is just not fun for me.

It's not really the focal point of Freedom but since it's the most populated server a majority of the PvP'ers, myself included, have toons over there just for that purpose. I do PvP, both in zones and arena, on Virtue but there just isn't as much action here as there is on Freedom. Unless you PvE with your PvP toons alot it's better to make them on a different server anyway so you'll have more slots you can make alts on.

Recluse's Victory is somewhat active in the evenings (east coast time). Siren's is touch and go and people mainly now only go to Warburg and Bloody Bay for the temp powers. My suggestion, make a toon that can solo PvP well and become a thorn in people's sides in those zones.

Zone PVP can be fun, especially RPVP, the problem is that there were a bunch of people who were so interested in just ganking and insulting people that it turned a lot of casual PvPers off of the Zones.

That being said, It does happen here on Virtue but is sporadic. I talk to people I know who are really not interested in going into zones to jsut get Ganked, because they don't have the right PvP Build and are not interested in making a PvP build.

I do hope some of this changes, mostly cause I have had some fun the PvP Zones even though I suck terribly at it.

Even when you do casual zone PvP, you expect a little trash talk. If you don't want to deal with it you shut off broadcast or disable enemy chat. Besides, zone PvP has always been somewhat of a joke even with the hard core PvP community.

All the best action took place on the Test League, all the casual friendly PvP took place in events like Fight Night.

What happened is that Issue 13 pretty much killed most peoples desire to PvP, including those of us who actively ran PvP events for casual PvP'ers to participate in.

The end of Fight Night was the end of casual PvP on Virtue, as for PvPEC... PvPEC has always suffered from fragmentation of its leadership and of its members, always with a great sense of bitterness at the mistreatment and mismanagement of the PvP Community by the Devs. Which all told, created a very insular and desperate community rather than the blossoming, glorious and rich global PvP Community they had hoped to create.

From what"ve gathered the main reason I don't PvP is that my build is total garbage for it. The reflexes just doesn't seem to be that super. I read something about people just having too much +hit for it to work or something but I dunno. I didn't research it too well and I looked at it almost a two years ago so I'm sure something's changed since then concerning SR in PvP. Its a shame because I really enjoy fighting players in most games but I also REALLY love my DB/SR scrapper as my main character and I'm not really that into making a character just for PvPing because I am so incredibly lazy.

It was, and I miss it as well.

Part of me says "I have run PvP Events before, I could do a Bi-Weekly PvP event without too much trouble or effort."

The other part of me says "I have absolutely zero desire to support post I13 PvP, and any time or effort that I would place into building a small casual PvP community on Virtue would only send the message to the data miners that people were in support of the I13 PvP changes."

Generic Villain stood by casual PvP on Virtue for many years, through many changes and was a very talented HC PvP'ers, winning a number of events on Test. When GV gave up on PvP that was a message that resounded deeply with me.

I approve of this message.

PvP is dead and on Virtue it's..I don't know, what's more dead than dead? decomposing?

The zones are pretty much owned by the zone farmers and zone farmers don't go after other players with the intent to PvP; we go after Players with the intent to farm them for PvP IOs. So ganking and the "liberal" use of heavies, NPCs and turrets is expected.

If you feel the desire to PvP (srsly) Arena is your best bet. Trust me, you won't find serious PvP in zone. You're just going to be farmed (especially in RV). Some still do arena, but there are very few here on Virtue. Your best bet is to move to freedom for serious PvP.

Little trash talk yeah but there was some serious crap going on out there. Stuff that went beyond the fun trash talk.

Trash-talk is to be expected in PvP. It's a viable tactic to try and throw off peoples game. Racial slurs and personal threats are going beyond trash-talk and that's one of the many reasons there is no more PvP community.

People take PvP far too seriously. Why I choose to farm instead of PvP.

What you describe is PvP. If you are fighting other players you are PvPing, regardless what your intent is. Taking advantage of opponents, using heavies and NPC have been part of PvP as long as the Zones have been in the game.

So if that is what is going on in RV on a nightly basis then PvP is alive on Virtue.

Can you still fight other players? Sometimes, when the wind is blowing southerly and you are in the right zone at the right time.

But Community? Events? Guilds battling one another or making coordinated strikes on zones?

If your lucky, your SG may have a private league, or get together and Free for All every once in a while.

The soul, the passion, the spirit and the players who give a damn enough to try and maintain that seething and explosive community? Dead, dieing or moved onto greener pastures.

I went from PvP Junkie, to Casual PvP'er to screw this I am playing WAR, Street Fighter for my PvP fix.

Its not that I think the Dev's hate PvP, obviously it is a part of their game they want to see it succeed, they keep on sinking time and money into it trying to make it work. However I do think that there is no one on the team that is a dedicated PvP'er themselves or has any idea how to actually design and build a system where PvP is fun, balanced, dynamic, easily accessible and rewarding.

Every PvP change has been done with data mining at the forefront. Cold, Mechanical, looks great on paper and is about as fun as Quickbooks.

Hey, Quickbooks is fun... to some people out there I'm sure who like numbers and accounting and such.

I've seen PvP. There was a ladder at one point with people who actually PvPed. There was even a small yet existant PvP community on Virtue. No more since i13. What happens in Virtue RV is farming. You can call it PvP; you can also call a cat a dog.

There're probably less people pvp'ing on Virtue than there are on Freedom, but it's going to be quiet either way so you might as well stay on the server where you've got your roots and know more people.

But RPvP is fun however you look at it.

I've seen RPVP and it was something to see. Well acted and very entertaining.
