60 month vet reward

I have no problem with allowing people to pay for their vet rewards upfront as long as they wait the same length of time to get them that I did.
Some people can't afford that comfort. The reasons I don't have several vet rewards was because I couldn't afford to keep pay for a game that I wasn't playing during given periods.
Just a general question to people who hate the idea of microtransactions for vet rewards: If you have no problem with people paying their monthly fee and not even playing the game, what the difference if people pay an upfront cost for vet rewards? Does it really matter that someone has something that you feel only a small number should? or is just bad precedent? I'm sort of playing devil advocate, because I disagree with the idea of microtransactions in general, but I would like to hear your thoughts. |
That's what these guys are really whining about. They don't want to wait. They'll confuse the issue and try to make it seem like it's about the cash but it isn't. It's never been about the money. It's about being impatient.

Again, playing devils advocate here, How does someone else having the reward quicker diminish the reward for you?

Most of the people I have seen on the boards that are against allowing people to purchase vet rewards come off as elitists not wanting people in their club. What does it matter who has what vet rewards?
In that case, we might as well remove all the requirements and give them to a day old account right?
It matters because them's the rules and making an exception based on their spending power is a good way to piss of a large majority of veterans. And let's face it, there are more veterans and returning customers than new players in this game.

If someone can't afford to pay $15/mo, why would they be able to afford $899.40 as a lump sum? ($14.99 for 60 months)

Also, objectively, money over time is more valuable to the company than lump sums are.

See I notice how you keep avoiding the most important part of the vet reward system. The commitment. The vet rewards were intended as perks given to the players that show their loyalty by keeping their accounts active the LONGEST TIME.

It's not about the money. It's about the TIME.
No matter what you argue you can't get around the fact that it's a loyalty program based on the length of time the account is active.
Time.
Time, time, time, time, time.
Time.

@Wavicle, mostly on the Justice server.
For me, it says they are focused on us rather than how much they can make off of us.
I am pretty sure they could make all kinds of microtransaction deals and get that quick burst of cash. But that is not what keeps a company going. It is the long term, sustained income through player loyalty. It also gives players something to look forward on.
I see too much "I want it NOW!" attitudes (like with the market).
Every player will get a vet reward as long as they keep the account active. Yes, we all have RL to deal with and players come and go on how much they can keep the account active. But a player has to ask what really is important - RL item like food/rent/etc. or getting some vet reward - and put it in perspective. It is a game to have fun, and the vet rewards are there when you get to them.
