Would you have been on the Omega Team?
I would've sent in my Tanker Silverissa. She isn't gonna die to Rikti, period.
I'ld go to Praetoria
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!
If what was meant as what which team would your char have chosen, knowing the price...
Well during the war my char Lady Arete was stuck in the Zig. It was part of her time to reflect of her life and what she had done and wanted undone. She did not know much about the war until it was almost over and by that time it was too late.
The sorceress was sort of forgotten and not released until Statesmans call to heroes.
However if she knew about what happened (and it happened in her years as a hero)... she would join the Omega team. Knowing teleportation spells she would try to keep her team mates alive and several steps away from the enemy on the world that would be their "new" home. (and use fire spells as that is her primary/secondary powers) Unless she would be killed before she had a chance to make a fake death of the heroes.
No matter she would have gone to save Earth.
The other chars I got are usually mutants so they would not be of much use in the Omega team...

Diamond my main, would go if asked indeed. She is very much a silver age style guardian with hints of the golden age heroism in her. People are dying, some have to sacrifice to ensure that others would live. She would give her life for others, it is basically what she does every night...with the chance of dying. This time well its just a guarentee but with meaning.
My Villain Thorn, depends actually, having no love for the Rikti, she isn't against slaughtering them at willl but is not one for self sacrifice. It would take someone important to her (There are really only one or two) being killed by the Rikti for her to be angry enough to die trying to kill Rikti.
Most of my other alts would really not fit into the Omega Team make up. Though as Heroes they would go if asked for the most part.

I don't know!....It would seem that If a bunch went to sacrifice their live's, The Rikti would have more to examine and better prepare themselves for future invasions against certain tech/magic powers...or whatever source that powers you.
Just as how we have Rikti slabs, they do the same process of examinations. Why not just get a Nemisis automaton, strap an "OMEGA WAVE RIKTI ANNHILATOR"tm pat pending. Open portals to major areas with a letter attached ---> <--- to each one....and BOOM!
NO MO RIKTI!!
Prometheus: ... so what I told you was true, from a certain point of view.
Me: From a certain point of view?
Prometheus: You're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on your point of view.
Me: You're right about that. Power Blast is very pretty from a certain point of view. But that point of view is not head-on. <Kaboom> - Arcanaville.
Alpha Team, Omega Team, Shmega Team.
In character most of my characters, both Hero and Villain would enter the fray.
A couple of the villains would weigh their options first, then decide that fighting the Rikti was necessary for their goals, but none of them would back down from a fight.
Well, on second thought:
Cinae Exodus (Fire/Kin-Ruptor) would fight the Rikti, buy stay on Earth. Her goal is to return to the Past once she has gained power enough to stop Zoria from starting the Circle of Thorns.
Lt. Ferber (Bots/FF MM) would fight the Rikti, but stay on Earth, as he wants to return to the Future, and he can't do that if he is in another universe, and Rikti have destroyed the Earth, thus making human colonization of Mars in the 2500's impossible.
Kobold Kommando (Nin/Nin Stalker) would be the one character who would not stand up to the Rikti. Kobolds aren't known for "Bold", they're known for "Sneaky". Also, see: Filthy, Cowardly and Back-Stabbing.
In my two mains back-story, they jumped at the call, only to have their parents grab their collars and say "Nuh-uh. Not nearly well trained enough, Sprouts!", as the tried to head out the door.
I don't really have a main as such; just a lot of alts. My two 50 are Mutant and Technology and don't qualify. My highest Magic character is The Darkness That Burns, a bodiless creature of malice and hunger who probably wouldn't join, and if it did so would only do so for the opportunity to attack from behind at the worst, most destructive moment. Not that it'd be invited; I see the interview going something like this:
Hero 1: "Well, what can you contribute to our cause?"
Darkness: "Pain. Suffering. Make you all burn, drown the ashes in darkness."
Hero 1: "Ummm. You DO understand the concept of 'team', right?"
Darkness: "Te'Am? Ice demon. His suffering was delicious."
As for one who would join; I think this thread deserves a link. "If one of my heroes was on Omega team..."; a bunch of letters as if written for the recently opened time capsule. Mine was from my DB/Fire brute Burning Blood, who would have gone as he explains:
Written on what has been identified as Behemoth hide, penned in human blood: Greetings, whomever reads this. I am one of the few of those called villains who has chosen to aid the one called 'Hero 1'. As for why I do so; to understand that you must understand me. I have long forgotten my true name. Ages ago I was executed for terrible crimes, my soul plunging to the netherworld. But I was not like my fellow damned souls; something, my nature or the blessing of some dark god allowed me to draw strength from that unholy place. I waxed powerful, broke my bonds and went forth into that terrible place of terrible beings, to show them I was more terrible still. I went back and forth across the burning lands, committing crimes and atrocities even more hideous than those I died for. Demons, the damned, all suffered when I came upon them and none could stop me. Finally in the end my presence was more than even they could tolerate, and the masters of that realm banished me back to this mortal world. Less powerful for I am far from the realm from which I draw power, but still forever wreathed in the hellfire I have earned and with a world of victims before me. And so while some would call my state damnation, I call it paradise; what is the pain of hellfire compared to sating my dreams of blood? And here too in this strange modern world I have committed atrocities, and none have stopped me for long. Again and again the heroes have struck me down, but I am already dead and the lands of the dead reject me. And then the Rikti came. I fought them along with all the others; blood is blood, whether that of mankind or its enemies. They suffered and died as my victims always do. But I saw how strong they were, and so when the call went out from Hero 1 for volunteers I came. Are you expecting some tale of how the courage of humanity inspired me and at last I wanted redemption? No. I have chosen to follow Hero 1 because I expect humanity to lose. Even if this plan succeeds, it will be only a matter of time before they gain access to Earth again. And there are too many other dangers...if the Rikti are not the executioners of humanity, something else will be. And then I would be left alone, wandering the dead Earth eternally burning with no sweet blood to bask in. But the Rikti...the Rikti are strong. The Rikti will live, where humanity will not. So, I will go with Hero 1, and I will kill Rikti alongside the others. And then the Rikti will cut us all down. I will slaughter them as I have slaughtered so many, and they will strike me down as a thousand others have before, and I will rise again as I always have. They will strike me down thinking they have won, not realizing until too late that they have merely inflicted me upon their world instead of yours. I will walk across their lands as I have yours, torturing and murdering, glorying in their blood. And when Earth dies, I will still be there, still killing. I will write the histories of Earth into the flesh of the Rikti, so it shall not be forgotten. Farewell, and may all your dreams be bloody ones. Burning Blood. |
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
What if it was to prevent a server shutdown. One of the low-population servers. You'd be given a free server transfer token if you were willing to volunteer to save the server.
It would be a multi-day or multi-week event, with different campaigns to save different parts of the city. This would make it possible for victory to be a "back and forth" thing. If enough of the city was saved, then the server would not be shut down. However, you would not be given a free server transfer to return to your original server. You'd either have to stay in your new home or pay your own way back. If you failed, the server would shutdown and any characters on the server at the time will be deleted. Would you risk a character then? From an RP-style point of view, I have a few magic-based heroes who would volunteer. In fact, probably most of them. Only one or two of my villains would, as a matter of pride. Most would not, however. |
I have to go with Uber on this one.
From a players perspective Id have to go with PLing a meaningless probably overpowered character just to do what was needed.
Boycott Ncsoft if they close down Coh.
If you've read the other thread on the Omega Team letters, you'd have noted two submissions from me, both of which clearly state that I would have been on the Omega Team, because "Someone has to do it. Someone has to be there."
If you had the chance to take that alt on the Omega team and know almost certainly that they would be destroyed, completely, with no chance of getting them back and no way of remaking them either.

I'm playing superheroes, not warfighters. I accept the Rikti war as the background of how the city got the way it is now, but now is the time for superhero action.
(Plus, that would be a raid style thing, and I don't do raids.)
Without question, my Main Mentalshock would have gone on Omega Team, even though he's of a mutant origin, not magic. Of course, the reason that he would have gone is because he is actually a rehumanized Rikti. Needless to say, he wants to see the Lineage of War stripped of their power, and made to face the consequences of their intended Xenocide of humanity.
My brute, Talon Pyre, probably would not have gone, only because he'd realize the potential shift in the balance of power that would result from the number of heroes lost in the attempt.

My best character, and my only 50, would definately go on omega team. omega team just fits him he is utterly useless in long drawn out battles that require damage absorption but he is awesome at dealing massive damage all at once. He is eather the first one to die on a team or the one who bails out everyone else at his own expense, either way he dies.
In the beginning the universe was created, this upset many people and is widely regarded as a bad idea.
Dont hate the minty freshness
