Katana/Electric Armor

Anyone else playing one?

I have mine at 50, ran him up on double xp weekend and the Halloween event mostly.

I like it a lot, spent less than 200 million so far but he can tear though some badies.

This is just a shout out to see if others like the combo.

Oh geez. Never even thought about that combo. So tell me, what do you and others like about Katana/Electric Armor?

I'm curious as well, anyone try out this combo? How is Electric armor stacking up to the powerhouses of Shields and Super Reflexes?

I have one at level 5 on freedom, a server that I hardly ever play on.

But I do have a lvl 47 Claws/Elec and my GF has a lvl 26 DB/Elec.

Knowing what I do about those combos a few things Kat/Elec has are very good.

First Elec armor has awesome resists with a good self-heal and near endless end, its main hole... defense, it has none, leaving you with having to fill that gap with IOs and pool powers. In the end you can work up to about 30% positional defenses, this is where Kat/ will help, with DA you can stack defense on a high resistance build, just as you would with regen.

Personally, I feel Electric Armor has a high learning curve, but after you figure it out, it performs very well.

50's: Heroes: Ozmeth DB/WP; Black Decker DM/Regen; Shado-Strike DM/SR Scrapper (13 AV soloed); Desert-Shock Claws/Elec Scrapper; Shado-Shriek Dark/Son Def
Villains: Bokken Nin/Nin

I had one of these and got it to 12...

Thing about me is when I'm not thrilled about a build to start off it won't work.

I dunno if it was the Katana or the Electric Armor but I didn't like it

It looked good on paper though...

YAY!

Been waiting in the wings so as to not drone on about how much I love it.

The DEF hole has been filled on Might Dinky to where I have about 30% to AOE and 27% to Ranged, with DA as needed.

The endless endurance rocks, no doubt there.

I can see where I can get the Ranged over the 30% mark with some changes and when I get the 2 purple sets all lined up I should have about 55-60% global recharge. Even at about 45%, I can attack fast enough for most anything. I want to get it as high as I can mainly for the self heal to recharge as fast as possible.

I am still looking at ways to increase the DR as well, but having trouble there, I guess I should break down and uses Mids, I just find that tedious,

So far, I have not started trying to go after AVs, I want my DEF numbers higher first. Tried a Pylon and I was not damaging it enough to kill it, but survived just fine.

The endless endurance rocks, no doubt there. I love the way it looks as well. I have also set him up without any powers I do not use with the exception of Kick, I hate wasting powers for just holding IOs. Another one of the real reasons I have been pushing the envelope with what he can do is that I have yet to see another Katana/Electric Armor.

About to ding 25, and i'll say, so far, Stamina and Energize and DA. Bread and butter so far. I plan on picking up weave to stack with DA and I'm looking forward to Soaring Dragon, plan on putting Force Feedback Proc in both Golden Dragonfly and Soaring Dragon, cause the sooner Energize and Power Sink come back, the better for me.

@MajorPrankster, do you have Lightning Field? It's not in my current planned build. Didn't think the added attention was worth it.

I do. I have it right now as a proc machine 3 damage procs and a Performance Shifter Chance for Endurance. I use it to herd and distract mobs from the squishies, plus it looks great!

Definitely one of the optional powers though. I have thought about other ways to build that might see it replaced. The slots are starting to look better in other things, I just like the proc-gimmick.

You do realize that, thanks to that slot placement, you're granting your enemies endurance, rather than yourself. The Perf Shifter proc doesn't grant endurance to you, it grants it to the target of the initial target of the power (i.e. yourself on a passive, your enemy with an attack).

I had NO idea!

Thanks for the heads up, I guess I'll be respeccing that.

I have the stalker version of this combo right now. I picked the stalker combo over the scrapper for a variety of reasons. Important among those is that with the stalker version I can get shadow meld, which with some very good slotting means I can:
be softcapped more than half the time; have resistances of 52.6 to S/L, 75 to En, 22.8 to Neg, 49.3 to F/C, and 39.9 to Psi; 34.2 HP/sec with near perma energize.

Scrapper version would do all that except the softcapping and give me higher regen because of higher base HP, but I much prefer the softcapping.

I have since stopped playing him though, as I started to seriously feel the lethal resistance in the mid 30s. My three main characters do either negative or energy damage, so I am not used to such massive resistance to my attacks. Do -res procs alleviate this problem for all of you? I really get annoyed at having anemic damage.

I very much like the look and feel of the combo, and I can see why you all love it.

Well, the -resistance procs won't change how it FEELS to hit enemies with resistance, because the procs buff your damage even on unresistant enemies. So when you hit enemies with resistance, it's still annoyingly slower than normal. I try not to worry about it, since I figure I'm still doing good DPS on average.

A friend of mine has one already at 50....mine is at 38 now, and so far it's a fun combo. I'm really unsure about how to do this toon's sets, but I'm looking forward to figuring it out.

Does anyone think you could actually get by without Stamina/PP in this build, just on the endu redux from Energize and PowerSink?

Just had a fantastic experience with my Electric Kat :-D

Ran with a 6 person team, and long story short, whenever the fit hit the shan, it was me and the tank (who was Electric Armor/SS :-D) that were still alive. There was a Regen in there, and a DB/SR and another tank (names have been withheld to protect them?) and they were dropping fairly often.

Made me feel giddy. Glad i picked a good combination.

I have been the last man standing more often with Mighty Dinky than any other character I have, except for my WP/SS tank.

Playing anything else right now seems much less fun.

To Werner,
Have you made a build for a Kat/Elec scrapper yet?

I should have done this instead of DB but I am kind of like Dual Blades now but on the high end my db/ela is not as survivable as other sets was a fun ride that I enjoyed

I may have to remake him as one I thought about it just not made up my mind

I was playing my DB/elec today and thought about how good a Kat/elec would be and then I tried to remember if I had made one already, or not. I haven't, but I still like my DB/elec. I know it won't be as sturdy, but it's going to put out more AoE. My DB/elec is only 28 so I'm still waiting to form an official opinion on /elec. Right now the best I can say is that it seems decent. Once I get into my 30s and 40s then I'll feel better about it one way, or another.
