By the same token if you stick a 12 year old junior hockey team in the same rink as a top NHL team that then plays all out the odds are that the junior team won't learn all that much compared to playing against another junior team or a mixed team of pros and newbies.

?
Thank you, Champion.
What the point of PVP? well maybe someone wanna seee how there toon would do fighting someone with a brain at the other end. Test how your toon you put so much love into do in some action. PVP can be real fun! (kickball) which you have mixture of good players and ok players on a team. The zone could be popping when have more then 20+ going at it. Felecia grow a pair making excusing about someone being purple out and IO. I believe PVE players also Purple and IO toon as well and probably have better chance to do so since they run more mission then an average pvper. Felicea you still raging about PON which havent really pvp for awhile other then here and their. I still have toon in champion and I still pvp in champion.
Sidenote*** Everyone got own starting to pvp... but have keep going out there over and over each time trying something different until you find a way to kill that person. You can't never learn if stop trying cause you died few times. If fell like you dont what powers to pick for pvp just ask someone or use the /ac or pvp channel. Raving about uber pvper and making excuses about not pvp cause your ton is not IOed out is hog wash. Trust me go to RV pvp and don't talk smack or make excuse. Others would respect you trying and would hold off on the insults.

As long as your switching take PoN, LES, and EXILES with you and maybe PvP will grow on this server.
Elf'er did PvE? Who knew? Met with EXILES for a pvp match the other day and had to cancel it. You guys never learn, you dont challenge a 2 WEEK old pvp sg then show up with 7-8 Uber-Purple lvl 50's with no intention of making the teams fair and expect others to compete. PvP never became popular because of this attitude. You are bullies and PvP is not dead, it never was alive to begin with. I talked with Pingu the other day and he said they had challenged Stryke-Force to Base Raids and PvP but Stryker always said not interested. I asked Stryker 2 yrs ago why we did not PvP or Base Raid, he said "There is no point to it". Hate to say it but Stryker is right! There are no benefits, it is boring, and the players who do it are way to often juvenile. |
Ok Felecia let me tell you something.
You think getting owned in pvp is bad in i13? It was way worse before i13, if you go out on any squishy you get held, if you root yourself for 2 seconds you WILL get AS'd, and ET'd and killed instantly, You can be held for 20 minutes by a dom or controller, but you die in 3 seconds so who cares. In i12 you die about 20 times faster, with no "free resist" and more unresistable damage with way more people spiking you. Now in i13 you have way more resist, reaction times, and WAY less people to manage , besides weakened AS, less stalkers, ET nerf, and plenty more.
EVERY MAJOR PVP"r learned pvp the HARD way. Going to RV, getting wrecked OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Till you want to quit. But then you want to get better and be one of the "elite". You want to have the fun they do. So you go back the next day. GET WRECKED OVER AND OVER. But maybe you got a kill and you enjoyed it. Maybe your friends got interested. Maybe you learned a new tactic. And you come back, and get wrecked less, and less, and maybe IO your toon and accolade it. And the more time you put into pvp the more fun you will get out of it.
Now, since all the other pvp'rs went to RV and GOT WRECKED until they wanted to practically quit, why cant you? They all did it and now they have fun and get kills and DONT COMPLAIN. What do you do? whine about how they should go easy on newbies and have different pvp leagues. Well guess what, if you dont get wrecked you will never be as good as pvp as them because you can't learn from them. What you are encouraging is just going to create bad pvp'rs and when they do pvp with the so called "elites" they will be wrecked because they didn't learn the ropes.
Now, maybe if you stick to RV and kickballs with a decent toon, stop complaining, and learn by partici[pating instead of pvp'ing within your own groups, you will get better.
Oh, and dont EVEN bring up this IO purples accoladed w/e **** to the convo.
Yes IO's are good, but I pvp'd with my sonic/em SO'd for 4 months, common IO for 3 months, and right now he has THREE sets (yellow/orange, NOT PURPLE OR PVP IO), and a numi uniqe and perception IO. Now, i did KB, i did RV, i did pvp events. I got practice and got better because i spent time and learned.
I played my mind/elec the same way...and its my fav. pvp toon yet. So...quit complaining and start pvp'ing, or if you think getting owned in pvp will hurt your ego too bad then go back to PvE!

You're the one that will never learn if you don't compete against people that are better than you. Ask anyone who plays a real sport, or plays an instrument. They want to practice with people that are better, not the same or worse, because it makes them better too. They learn tricks and techniques that work.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
Just curious here, Felicia: When you accepted the challenge of an established PvP SG, what exactly did you expect them to bring to the fight? Were they supposed to bring characters that they don't PvP with? You knew what you were getting into when you said yes. It's up to you and your team to make the best of it.

Second like others have told u alrdy im just going to say it as well,( Speaking for myself right now though ) i learned how to pvp by fighting tough ppl not fighting newbies vs newbies . You learn better ( my opinion ) when fighting tougher guys . As for even trying to say that my SG along with other SGs r as u said " bullies " is the most BS excuse u can come up with? lol honestly i dont give a **** if i sound liek a dick right now or not u just seem dumb to me honestly. Your members wont even learn how to pvp if u keep this **** up and btw didnt u say in a different thread u have like 15+ or so members n ur SG that is rdy 2 pvp? i know IOing and Lvling can be diffcult for some/many and ya but its been a while and i have yet 2 c even ONE member come out to arena or even a lol zone , blue or red side.
But honestly if u would have gone thur with the match we would have just have given u more of r respect for even doing it , honestly i was shocked u said yes 2 it n the first place but i absloute hate how u ******* made me and my members and ppl watchin come out and waste their ******* time that was total BS and u know it.

Between Elf Stalker's epic failure to communicate in any language known to man, and another poster complaining about PvPers bringing their best PvP characters to a PvP event, this thread delivers.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."

Those with a strong interest will persist and get better while accepting that they're going to get beaten down again and again, but the casual player who was interested but unsure will get discouraged when their team does nothing but get defeated without scoring once.
i can understand skilled PvP'ers not wanting to slow themselves down by teaming with newbs who have no clue what's going on, but simply pounding them flat with an optimised, experienced team when they do show up only sends the message that PvP is a game that only the most committed should try. This is good if you're trying to find candidates with a similar level of dedication, but absolute crap if the idea was to interest more casual players. |
Personally, i'm not a frequent PvPer and i don't expect to win fights since i'm generally in zone PvP while solo. i accept that not getting defeated is generally the most i can expect when teams of experienced PvPers are in the zone. Then again, i do find amusement in a team of Stalkers and Corruptors trying to gank my solo Defender and failing. i shrug and continue playing when they succeed. Either way i usually ignore most broadcast.
Many Korean MMO's have had open PvP where new characters leaving the starter zone could expect to get wiped out by max level players amusing themselves. It was basically a considered a trial or rite of passage to make it past the other players and reach the safety of the town. It makes sense in a way for many PvP fans to have a similar attitude in CoH. However, it's not what attracts most current MMO players to a game. (Just look at WoW: no ganking of newbs on their way out of the tutorial, and yet it's still massively successful. *feh*)

And the shame of it all is the PvE characters can't make Board accounts and complain about all those purple'd PvE players beating up on them. Now really. How fair is that?

Not trying to defend felecia here or anything because I'm on your side of the issue but I don't really agree with this. People who play PvE don't complain about purpled out PvE toons because they don't affect them negatively. Quite the contrary actually. I think most players would RATHER have players playing purpled toons on their team because they improve the team, and have a postive effect. And it is physically impossible to have one PvE player "beat up" another PvE player.
I think he means the in game mobs not other players, dood.
Although, Fun Fact: I have had people complain about my purpled out characters on a team. I was on my fire/dm corr on an ITF and the tank got tetchy. He didn't like that I was all zoom zoom pew pew and the team was steamrolling without him going in and hitting an aoe and hitting taunt and then hitting his macro to let us know that yes it was safe and that yes, we could engage.

Ah, well. Base raiding is not yet perfected. Looking forward to a point where it is...
I tried, for the longest time, to get Dirty to base raid with his own supergroup. I think they would have had so much fun and maybe built themselves to a point where they could feel confident in challenging other groups. And with the coordination going on in that SG, they would have rocked it.

Yea, was actually talking from the perspective of the AI (or the E's in PvE.) I mean seriously, don't you start feeling a little bad about Eochai after a while with him getting pwnd? Just a little? Yet, he never complains. But then, that's his $15 so he can play how he wants.

Can someone remind me what you lose when you switch server? I only did it a couple of times and that was a loooong time ago to get the Base Raid badge.
Supergroup prestige record?
Item storage (if you are dumb enough not to remove the items in advance)?
MA arcs? (surely not, but I seem to remember something about this).
I can't think of anything else.

LES doesn't pvp, at all. So why exactly are you mentioning them in this thread. JFC.
Put it this way....say you're learning to play as a goalie in hockey. If everyone takes it easy on you improvement will not happen. The challenge is the main thing.
When I PvP I don't care if I win or lose, although I will try to win. It's fun all the way.
If a 2 week old PvP SG accepts a challenge from an established SG, you;ve got to expect a difference in skill levels, builds and IOs.
A new MLB or NHL team doesn't get to play the weakest teams in the league so they can get used to it. Step into the majors and either play like a major leaguer or learn to. If you get schooled, make notes on where your weaknesses are then hit Mids' or the arena and work on it.
I don't think it helps to call someone a bully simply cause they win at PvP. That monster winner was a PvP noob at some point and learned.
Every bruise my toons get helps teach me to break bones more effectively next time.
Even more so if the junior team hasn't even played hockey before. Hell, they aren't even familiar with professional rules and equipment. Sure, they've watched hockey videos, skated around and hit the puck on a pond near home while wearing normal winter clothing, but they don't normally have enough people to make a full team, much less two, and now they're up against a pro team in full gear playing like it's for the cup. The odds are they won't learn very much while on the ice other than what it feels like to be repeatedly slammed around and lose without scoring anything.
Now the most dedicated member of the junior team who really wants to learn professional hockey will persevere and come back for more games and take the slamming again and again until they improve, but the rest generally will just be left feeling like they have no chance at winning against professional hockey players and go play sports they feel they can win.
Most new PvP'ers have less experience with PvP's differences from PvE than the average hockey fan has with professional hockey. Those with a strong interest will persist and get better while accepting that they're going to get beaten down again and again, but the casual player who was interested but unsure will get discouraged when their team does nothing but get defeated without scoring once.
