But beyond that, I can't see how you can equate forming and joining teams using server global channels as equivalent to being 'offline' as far as other players are concerned. Any player can join one of their server's global channels. I make it a point to tell as many players about global channels as possible, whether they are new players or vets. It's one of the best way to have ready access to teaming opportunities.

Just remember that the server population at the time you log in is sorted in reverse order, with the exception at the very top (it's the last server you logged into).
This means that the lowest server on the list has the highest population during the time that you're interested in playing.
Most of the time it means that Freedom is last (highest population), but I've seen Virtue overtake Freedom at times. The other servers can vary dramatically in placement over a 24 hour period and even during the week, so either they are fluctuating heavily or they are fairly close in population size.
Choosing a new server should also reflect the time at which you play, there's little point in choosing a high population server during its lowest traffic period if there are others that are busier.

Somebody tell all these people who /tell me as soon as I log in about this so-called "population collapse" because I think they missed the memo. Last night between ten and eleven Pacific I fought off four invites to TFs from people I have never heard of, and two invites to regular teams. This morning at 7:30 Pacific I logged in to check some bids, and I got three invites. This was on a blaster that wasn't even near level cap. Population collapse my ***. I can't imagine what it's like on Freedom.
