My vote is for Corruptor. My main is a Fire/Cold Dom Corruptor and I am in Hover almost 100% of the time. Fire and Cold Dom are full of win and very enjoyable to play both solo and on a team.

Quote:Oh I see. It's a Target AoE with only 6 radius. That's why it's hard to hit something "behind" him.
Weird..this could be the first melee target aoe that I can think of. All the other aoe/cone are pbaoe.
Interesting. Thanks for the replies.
Thunderstrike from Electric Melee works the same way, BUT it takes PBAoE sets as far as I know. -
Here is my build for comparison. I built mine with S/L/E defense to soft cap with Ranged Defense to 35% to be within 1 small purple of softcap as well. I am sure mine could be better but I definitely think building for defense is better then building for resistance.

Quote:Agree 100%. I am just one of those people who actually like predictable nature of fury vs criticals. Both were played up to 20/21 before I stuck with one, which as you state is swayed toward brutes at those levels.Eh, that's true, but it's a fairly minor point in the grand scheme of things. Basically, you're looking at a ~20% loss to the crit damage of one attack out of every four. In other words, the net 25% bonus for combo level 3 isn't counted in crit numbers, but combo level 3 requires you to use three builder attacks that aren't affected at all by the quirk you describe.
And since crit damage only applies about 10% of the time, um, yeah.
I'm not saying StJ is better on Scrappers; I'm just saying that we're talking about a tiny edge either way.
Also, to the poster you quoted: if you were experimenting with the set on low-level characters, it's worth noting that Brutes are far and away the most damaging AT in the game in the lower levels, because:
- AT damage scalars don't normalize until something like level 22.
- The low-level game is balanced around TOs.
- Fury functions exactly the same way at level 1 that it does at level 50.
If you did compare them at higher levels, then great and more power to you; just thought I'd throw that explanation out there.
Then again all subjective comparisons should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are by nature, subjective. The OP poster did ask for subjective views, so I gave mine. -
I know that the number crunchers say that it works out better on a scrapper. I do not know if that is the truth or not, but what I do know, after trying a Scrapper and a Brute with Street Justice, to me, it feels better on a Brute. Not to say it wasnt extremely effective as a Scrapper, but I like the Fury mechanic more than Criticals.
Either way, it is definitely a fun set. -
-
Yeah I was thinking that Inv or Will, and even Elec Armor may get some heavy duty work out of this bonus. That extra 10% will allow for a little more freedom in IO set bonuses too.
-
So now that MA has been proliferated to Tankers and Storm Kick has been given a 10s 10% defense buff, what sets do you feel best take advantage of this powerset? I was thinking that this added defense buff would help the resistance based sets get to soft cap better, but I am far from an expert.
Any ideas? -
I am just returning from a long break and decided I would like to build my first IO set character and then take them through the Incarnate trials. I decided to use my Fire/Cold since he seems to have the best balance of solo and team play capability of the characters that I have.
I made this build with personal defense, endurance, and recharge in mind. I chose the Cardiac Alpha, but may choose Spiritual. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as this is first time I have really put anything like this together. Any tweaks or major flaws that can be pointed out would be great.
Here is the data chunk as that seems to be the best way to post builds here (let me know if you want the full thing):

FYI I did read the thread just below, but the choice of powers is slightly different and that build uses purples I do not think I can afford.

I am just returning after a long hiatus and wanted to try out a tanker, for the first time in a long time. I have been pondering this question myself and have been going back and forth between Elec (for looks and utility) and Inv (for straight up "Awesome"). I would be pairing it with SS either way, so would you recommend INV over Elec for a first tank, or would both do the job come end game?
-
I am interested in trying out a Blaster for the first time and think that Radiation is the one for me and my concept. I have looked on the boards to see what others are playing with Rad and it seems like /Fire and /Energy are the most common. I am curious what others think about Rad/Ice? /Ice looks to bring some heavy mitigation which seems cool.
Any comments or thoughts on Rad/Ice?
Thank you! -

Quote:Whats funny is that I enjoy being the good guy. But what I have done is created a character concept that will take into account the fact that my brute will go good once GR comes out. This way I can have the right mindset now to play a villain, yet still end up a hero in the end.The simple answer is, if you want to be the "good" guy, roll a scrapper. If you want to be a "bad" guy, roll a brute. You said yourself your not worried about "uber" builds, and if that's the case, the difference between the two class are, IMO, just not relevent enough to matter. Both will work. So, pick the side of the game you cant to play more.
-
Quote:All of the above really, though more towards the ADHD (which I actually have). I went with the brute since I liked the Fury concept. As mentioned I came up with a good villain concept for myself that works well for a Claws Brute.I see you've decided, but for the reference of others, I'd suggest:
Try and characterize your psychology.
Are you more accurately described as suffering from ADHD, or would you consider yourself as suffering from suppressed hostility, or alternatively from obsessive compulsive issues?
If you're more along the lines of the former, I'd suggest the scrapper, if the latter two describe you better, go with the brute.
If you suffer from both attention deficit and from hyperagressive issues, well, either AT will probably entertain you thoroughly.
Good advice though!
If anyone is on Freedom villain side, my name is Overclocker. -
Thank you for all the advice.
I decided to go with a Claws/Willpower Brute and so far he is a blast. I am level 8 and have Swipe, Strike, Spin, High Pain Tolerance, Fast Healing, and Swift.
Fury+Multiple Mobs+Spin=Gravy!
While I feel I like Blueside more than Redside, I came up with a good concept and character which has allowed me to enjoy Redside more!
Thank you!
Atomic Funk -
Hey Silverado did you ever play Anarchy Online? The name sounds familiar to me.
Also, anymore ideas on whether WP or Elec will serve me better down the line? Thanks all!
Atomic Funk -
I am interested in playing a Claws character and have been mulling over whether to go Brute or Scrapper. I am mostly a soloer and having just returned to game and chosen a new server, I am not worried about uber builds and the like. The secondaries I am interested in are /Elec, /WP, and /SR. Elec looks good from a visual point of view, whereas WP and SR seem to look better on paper for a solo player. Any thoughts from the community out there? I am mostly looking for something fun, capable soloer, and team contribution down the line.
Thank you!
Atomic Funk -
Electric does come with a heal, although it has a slower recharge than /Fire's heal.
-
Well I got my scrapper to 12 and it was pretty fun. I have taken a lot of attacks for now so I can see what they are all like. Siphon Life is so awesome! Not to happy with Shadow Maul, it has its uses and I love the punch animation sometimes, but overall its tough when you miss with that thing. I was able to customize everything to a great shade of blue for DM and ELA to match my costume and it all looks really great together.
For me I would not be going too crazy as I have yet to get a high level character on this server so thinking about IOs and Purples and such is not my thought. I just want a fun character that can solo when I need it to and team when I have the time. With that in mind, would it be best to make this toon a scrapper or a tanker. Anyone try ELA/DM tanker side and can make some comparisons?
Thanks for all the responses so far.
Andrew -
Came back for reactivation weekend and wanted to try Electric Armor out. I have wanted to play electric hero for some time now. Tried out Electric Melee, and it just didnt do anything for me. I am not truly interested in any of the weapon sets and am more interested in the punchy sets (just seems more heroic to me). So I thought that Dark Melee would be a good combo to go with Electric Armor. Any use this combo out before? I am generally a solo person due to work, school, and kids so I often like to do my own thing.
Thanks!
