I have it on a Brute and it's real fun, so I rolled a Scrapper too, but going for a different approach, still in doubt between softcapping him to melee def or go for high positional defenses between 25-30%, undecided yet. But anyway, enjoyed the combo a lot on my Brute.

I've gotten my Dm/Ela 99% slotted. I'm only missing the two gladiator 3% IOs which seem to sell for a beeeeeleeeeeon each now, so unless I'm on the test server with the IOs I swapped out of my other characters it will be a while before I re- amass two beeeleeeoooon inf that I will blow on just two IOs.
Besides being 3% short on def and 3% short on res, the set has 32 sec recharging energise and soul drain, and a wtf imbqbbq attack chain of MG>Smite>FB>Smite>MG for Dps or MG>Smite>SL>Smite>MG for Dps with healing. I also got the ranged and aoe def up to 20% and am missing the last 3%for 23%. I'm at 49 to 52% resists to S/L/F/C/E/Psi with neg energy at 32% and toxic at zeeeeero.
Perma energize is awesome. I just dont have to worry about endurance at all and I'm at 450% ish regen.
Whats not so good, as others pointed out is the 75% Energy resist. The same Problem exists with Fire armor and fire damage due to scrapper caps.
The set is very fun and looks really nice with power customization. I love ela's near total immunity to slows and drains.
Whats not so good, well for a build that costs about two billion inf, it is an epic demonstration on how heavy resistance sets lag behind pure defense sets at the edge of performance limits.
My very similar "in terms of recharge" DM/SR can eat a donut while soloing 8 man +3 spawns and winking at the ladies while flexing his glutes.
The DM/ELA needs to target heavy hitters first, LOS some of the spawn, jump away and back in to mess with the AI, in short, be tactical, to survive that. It is not as simple as stand in the middle and smack smash crack popple and wham.
The plus side is resist sets exemp much better, so he has a much wider range of play. Did I mention customized SDand elec armor look sweetsauce? I did? Oh well. =D
We all figured ElA was going to be crazy expensive. Oh well.
Well I got my scrapper to 12 and it was pretty fun. I have taken a lot of attacks for now so I can see what they are all like. Siphon Life is so awesome! Not to happy with Shadow Maul, it has its uses and I love the punch animation sometimes, but overall its tough when you miss with that thing. I was able to customize everything to a great shade of blue for DM and ELA to match my costume and it all looks really great together.
For me I would not be going too crazy as I have yet to get a high level character on this server so thinking about IOs and Purples and such is not my thought. I just want a fun character that can solo when I need it to and team when I have the time. With that in mind, would it be best to make this toon a scrapper or a tanker. Anyone try ELA/DM tanker side and can make some comparisons?

I've managed to get my DM/ELA to 39 and his build is pretty solid... with a 9 second downtime on Energize and a 600+% Regen, I am not concerned with defenses, just resistance which is around 60-65%... 42% recharge, but again, decent enough attack chain that I'm not concerned with it...
I love how everyone so far is different. WOOT!
It's so much fun solo and even more so in a team. Give it more time and get into the 20s, you will enjoy it more.

Came back for reactivation weekend and wanted to try Electric Armor out. I have wanted to play electric hero for some time now. Tried out Electric Melee, and it just didnt do anything for me. I am not truly interested in any of the weapon sets and am more interested in the punchy sets (just seems more heroic to me). So I thought that Dark Melee would be a good combo to go with Electric Armor. Any use this combo out before? I am generally a solo person due to work, school, and kids so I often like to do my own thing.
