Targetable body parts on giant monsters

I think it might make giant monster fights more interesting if you could target specific parts of their bodies, like right or left leg, right or left arm, torso and head.

Head: Mostly targetable only by those with ranged attacks. Head has high defense because it's smaller than the torso and monsters have thick skulls. Kill the head and the monster dies, unless it's two-headed. Enoough damage to the head blinds or stuns the monster and it staggers around thowing wild attacks at a penalty to accuracy.

Torso: Has high hit points. Mostly targetable only by those with ranged attacks. Kill the torso and the monster dies.

Legs: Targetable with melee attacks from the ground. Do enough damage to one of the legs and the monster goes down on on one knee, reducing giving him an accuracy penalty and allowing his torso to be targeted by melee attacks on the ground. Monsters down like this can no longer Footstomp.

Arms: Damage the monster's weapon arm or arms to reduce his attack accuracy and damage.

Other monsters could have weak points, like central eyes or you could target a scale or armor part to create a weak spot where additional attacks do bonus damage.

Its been a long while since I read about it, but as I understand it, this is what was the problem behind the giant Rularuu. They couldn't make spot targets work, and the standard targeting wasn't cutting it because even blasters would be against the character's robes because the target center was so far within the skin.

/no

I'm sorry, but I'm just tired of games where the boss wears a massive sign that says 'Poke me here to kill me/render me defenseless'. This is especially popular in Zelda games.

Giant Monsters don't need any possibility of being debuffed, players have an easy enough time with them as it is.

In one of the last 2 Issue betas Castle was experimenting with 'Hit boxes' on a Giant Mech.

There is hope for this concept and the Devs are working on* this or something similar.

*note: working one doesn't mean it will ever see the light of day if it just doesn't work, is unfun or simply is too much effort for the investment.

/no to the original concept. Just. no.

However, it might be interesting if future Giant Monsters are built to take down one part at a time.

I like the idea. The implementation needs some thought to make the battle more fun. I'm wondering if naughty people will herd a group of monsters just to chop off all their legs and then leave them there.

Yeah, Lusca, the giant octopus would be a primitive example. It's just that the octopus doesn't have much personality and doesn't do much to show it's injured. I guess it does dive down under the water sometimes.

But, yeah. Something like that but a lot more interesting.

I agree with future ones getting this applied, but not current ones.

We already have Lusca and an the Hydra AV from the Sewer Trial also has this.

Is Lusca (and also Hydra) a monster with tentacles, or the head and tentacles are technically different monsters that somehow pop up above the water to look like a "connected" piece?
