Hami's
They offer better raw enhancement amounts than most IOs.
they Ehnace different things.
for example my rad defender can slot 3 tohit/defence debuff/endrec in Rad Infection
Soft capping all 3 properties in just 3 slots. It is impossible to do that with any IO
The other example I use
Follow-up 3 acc/dam 2 tohitbuff/recharge 1 tohitbuff endrec - the equivalent of 12 slotting the power with SO.

I've played this game for a long time and have never used these on builds. What, if any, are the benefits of using them? I know the %'s are split like IO's but why even bother with Hami's if they do the same thing and they don't offer bonuses?

They may not have set bonuses, but they are giving full power to two or three attributes.

First off, i'd like to give thanks to Westley for one of the most informative replies that i've ever read. Now, i can see how you can have time reach 11k posts. I bet all of them offer just as much info, too. It has to be very hard to fully answer questions and sum it all up into one word, but i can see it was easy for you. Congrats!
2nd, that's what i was curious of Cat. That the %'s may be high enough to save a few slots on tight builds. Thanks.

Your sarcasm would be funnier if it were more accurate. Want to see how much I HAVEN'T contributed? Look at the Guide to My Guides in my signature. I've contributed plenty. And when people's questions have been sufficiently answered by someone else already, I see it as my purpose to start having fun.

Ooops, yeah. 2, my bad. Hands cookies to the "big contributer".

Some of them also offer enhancement combinations that you can't find in any Set IOs, which make them valuable for niche purposes.
Membranes, for example (Tohit/Def/Rech). It's basically the best thing you can slot in Fortitude or Forge. Or Cytoplasms (Tohit/Def/End) in Invincibility. Or Enzymes (ToHitDebuff/DefDebuff/End) in Radiation Infection. Peroxisomes (Dam/Mez) are another, albeit much less useful.

Throw 3 Endoplasm Exposures in Lich and giggle madly. You just increased his accuracy, hold duration, immobilize duration, and fear duration. 4 attributes maxed with 3 slots.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Endoplasms go great in Dark Servant too, for the same reasons.

Hi Guys,
minor thread jack albeit about Hami rewards!
After completing a Hami raid and getting the reward screen, do you get given a choice of all the Hami O's, or is it a "Select a Hami O and get a random drop" situation?
Just wondering about how long it would take to get the right O's for the build you need them on.
Thanks.

Also something people should remember about Hami-Os is that they have "features" in them that enable otherwise unboostable attributes to be enhanced. Best example I can think of is slotting Membranes in Active Defense which enhances its Def Debuff Resistance.
Also HOs such as Enzyme (DefDebuff/ToHitDebuff/End) enhance the "counter-attributes". For example, Enzyme enhances Defense by 33% which is markedly higher than anything else in the game and you can get to ED cap of Defense with just two of these. As another example, Microfilament (Travel/End) enhances Slow.

Hm, i think i need a couple of these. lol. I'll have to check wiki i guess and see which pieces would benefit the build best.
Either way, it's enough merits that I never, ever take a HO for a Hami raid. While some of them are extremely valuable (either to slot or sell), the odds are heavily weighted to a few that there is glutted supply on, so you're usually trading 53 merits for a Damage/Range or Damage/Mez. If I want a shot at a good HO, I go on an STF/RSF. These days even the STF is a hard sell at ...38?
