Purp my Fire/Fire/Pyre Tank
Hated it...u need to get build up...what are u thinking..u are fire tank ==DAMAGE...u will not be the toughest tank so be the ROUGHEST...deal pain and survive.
and drop BoF..i know u are stuck on it....but its really slow animation..i hate to say this but drop BURN..u have no mitigation to make burn work like stuns holds..or KDowns.
PURP ME BABY, yeah.... you know you want to!
Man give it a rest..u can purple out a turd its still a funky smelling turd. and u are putting taunts in consume so u can taunt every 90 sec..yah...here is crazy idea get Taunt the tank power. u can even slot in end recovery bonus IO sets in it. man i can do this..someone else help him...the "PURP ME BABY, yeah.... you know you want to!" kinda made me sick..gl purple turd!
ok im sorry...your's is the 3rd terrible build i have seen in last 2 days...i mean doesnt one use forums or mids to design their stuff? how bout consulting tanks in game..
if u see a kick *** firetank mowing down rikti or nemisis..then ask him/her how they do it...can they share build pointers etc..
i've seen a firekin planning to slot hot feet with armageedon set..
"WHAT? u are damage capped as u farm why would u need hot feet with 89% recharge bonus in it..u planning on turning it on/off due to 77% heavy end drain
(purple sets only give 33% end red to power) .
another one like a brillant stone/ss tank was proud to tell me he is investing in 5 purple sets in his build....im like u cant afford to give up 25 slots for just attacks..u are stoner...defense buddy /...resistance. regen .recharge ..end use..run speed..this all ring a bell?
and he too was on the armageddon for mudpots trick...again...u cant run mudpots with only 33% end reduction= .59 end/sec..."dont cry to my kin for transferance and sb cuz u cant read."
man sry to get so hyper,,,but man..i feel like all the hard work done by Herclea, myself, new dawn, calash,,,and others (too many to name sorry to the rest of MIDs geniuses in forums) that hard work is just wasted ..like screaming at deaf people.
Again b4 u post your build..or scream HELP I need the UBERZ build..just look through tanker guides and earlier posts and see the prior builds.
At least that way u can post build here that u looked at and try to modify and its not a complete waste of Mids code.
To Darkness3221:
Very nice of you there, jerk.
He can't be bothered to make his character to your standards... and you apparently can't be bothered to even approximate proper English. I would call that about even. And I have to laugh at the incredible hubris of refering to yourself as a "MIDs Genius."
BTW, excellent Forum PvP there.
To the OP:
I do have to laugh that you actually said "Purp me, baby" as if that will really spur on someone to waster there time creating a build for you, when you have all the tools available to do it yourself.
hey 37..that your IQ...or age,,if so act more mature..i wrote back and apologized for my post...and yes i am a MIDs genius..i just rather ppl use the resources first , guides and prior builds...
it seems to me that the quality of players has dropped..while noobs are flooding the forums on this titanic of a game..
Gentlemen it has been a privilege to play with the likes of buffy and heraclea and calash..no props to u 37. u flamer.
the main reason im asking for help is because I am just not a numbers man by any means. sure I could go for full sets of the most expensive purps but there arent enough slots to do that and so question of how many slots to do per power and what parts of purp sets to use. just not something that is easy for me to fallow.
as for my power selection, its there for a reason. I have been playing this toon for over 4 years. next month I will be getting my 51 mo vet badge. so I do know how to handle my tank. Its not what you have, its what you do with what you have. so for any one like Darkness3221 out there just consider yourself ignored, I'm only interested in civilized responses.

fine ill be ignored and u will be just ignorant..u were right in 1 point u cant just slot out every power with a purple set,,,there are not enuff slots...NEWSFLASH there are not enuff powers either ..u chose a set that requires heavy power pool use. u cant have every attack in set and expect to tank defensively like invul tanks..
u must give and take and shore up fire tanks defenses..without build up u are just a weak tank with weak attacks..tell u what im going to drop rage from my fire/ss build ..just because u know i like the animation of SS and dont care about killing stuff. firearmor is weak..u must use strong secondary to make it shine..
in other words killing faster = survival for firetank.
purple sets are really rare and expensive now..i wonder if the influx of newbs wanting to slot purples everywhere without regard to its effects, might be the reason for this?
final word...define your toon's role.. slot accordingly...then learn to play
u are 51 vet and cant slot a toon...hmmm PURP ME BABY, yeah.... you know you want to!
meanwhile im a 53 month vet and build incredible toons and can help u with your build if u drop the noobish act and ignore talk..
u posted..i critiqued..so far no one has given u a build..maybe cuz i've seen maybe 10 different fire-fire already posted..try search function..GL

Also, why Purples? Just for the sake of having them? Because you can do quite a lot, if not sometimes more, with non-purple sets.
BTW, you're power selection I can work with, but the slotting and ignoring the rule of five? You get one hand-slap, sir!

Du Hast, how attached are you to your slotting? In a lot of cases, you seem to have 4-5 slots in the attacks and 6 in the utility powers; I'd do that the other way around, if I were doing it.
Also, I usually try to get good-to-max enhancement values even if it means forgoing some of the set bonuses.
Titanium Coating is only giving you 1.5% Health and (with three) not quite capping your resistances; consider stealing the taunts from Consume and adding a fourth slot to each of your fire shields and slotting either Reactive Armor or Impervium Armor, which would give you arguably better set bonuses?

u posted..i critiqued.. |
To Du Hast: A couple things.
1: What exactly are you trying to get out of the build? Building towards max damage? Better defense? Better recharge? Better recovery? What's most important to you?
2: Again, common wisdom is that the best use of purples is 5-slotted, usually without the single-aspect IO. This means you come up short on total damage output. But, at 5-slotted, you have a significant increase in accuracy, usually regeneration or recovery boosts, and more importantly, that nifty recharge bonus. So even though you're doing less damage per-hit, you're hitting more accurately and more often. Plus, with the purple procs, you stand the chance for doing myriad types of additional damage.
I would Kb prot CJ and drop Acrobatics. Lose Firesword for something like Haste and get more AoE/Time out, have more heal over time and consume more often.
Then consider being about AoEs. What you couldn't finish personally can be done by someone else and if your farming alone; just bring those Bosses with you to the next group and they'll eventually get done. Doing that you can find room for Build up and/or Fiery embrace.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
To be fair, the build I currently have was a build that some one helped me with, I don't have the knack for dealing with the stat stuff (I had anxiety attacks in math classes in college). I am basically focused on maxing AoE damage and not as concerned with single target damage. I would like to beef up my shields but as it stands right now I generally don't have a major issue with dying. Healing flames comes up fast enough that its always up when I need it but I find that consume isnt up to par IMHO with the recharge rate that healing flames has.
my main taunt and AoE combo is:
combustion -> burn -> fire sword circle and I find it very effective. combustion throws the taunt on them so when i lay down burn they start to run but immediately run back into the burn just in time to use fire sword circle and that usually takes down most mobs and any left over are barely alive.
I went with pyre mastery more for thematic reasons than anything else. I absolutly love Fireball as its a great way to range taunt a mob or act as an alpha attack on a mob im running into to make sure they focus on me before the rest of the team. I also use Fire Blast to single target taunt but Char I rarely use. I think because Char feels like it doesn't do its job most the time when I use it but figured it would be better than just an immobilize like Ring of Fire does.
My play style is NO PvP, its not my thing and I don't farm. I do allot of teaming and soloing. I am only talking about purples since as far as I know they are the best way to maximize my abilities. I am not as concerned with maxing health or what not but more interested in resisting stat effects such as holds, mez, elemental damage etc. I am sure I won't be able to become the "I Win Button" toon but I wouldnt mind getting close. Is that enough info?

"I am not sure if my portrayal of being insane is accurate, but damn its fun all the same."
My unscientific impression of the purple sets is that they're all of a kind. In no particular order, they offer regeneration, recovery, hit point, endurance, and recharge bonuses. The only difference between one set and the next is the order in which these several bonuses are acquired.
I don't believe there are any purple set defense bonus; there is a PvP IO that offers global defense that I am aware of. It's unlikely I will ever own one, because I don't do the sorts of things that drop them, and if I did I'd just be letting them drop for others rather than getting them myself; nor will I ever have the kind of inf needed to buy them.
The purple sets generally do not interest me. Only a few of the bonuses they offer are things that I prioritize, and I generally take care of those things in other ways.

Basically, if you increase your HP by 20%, you've effectively increased your resist by the same amount. And you're regen goes up by HP/Sec. Those two together with a fast recharging heal will make you feel pretty godly.
As for resisting mez. . . why? You already get protection. Resist won't be noticeable for you. The only thing you need help with would be KB, which you can get from a few IOs. Get three of them, and you're covered.
Now you've got me thinking about a build for my Fire/Fire who's been on the shelf for a while. Can't wait to get home and try it out!

seems heraclea and new dawn agree with my comments..purples are not the end all be all...and i still stand by my statement. u will do a disservice to firetanks not to bump up your damage aka get build up at least..also helpful to hit high def enemy since u team and wont get taunt...so buildup then attack to get agg, then hit consume to keep agg.

With that said, my Fire/Fire/Pyre tank has a "tanking build" which is setted out to softcap defense to Smash/Lethal/Melee. He is TOUGH. He doesn't get hit by much, a lot of range and aoe attacks have smashing or lethal components, so those three defenses soft-cap him to about 75% of the mobs he faces. This build only uses two purple sets. It's not CHEAP, at all, but it's mostly wrapped up in specific pricey IOs that aren't Purple.
It's also got a 6s recharge on Combustion, an 8s recharge on Fire Sword Circle, 12s recharge on Fireball, and 17s recharge on Healing Flames. Damage galore, no Build Up, no Fiery Embrace, and I'm quite satisfied with it's overall performance. He's a crowd pleaser in just about any situation.
If it were me, I wouldn't worry about the purples, I would adjust the slotting to focus on one of the elements that have been mentioned previously. Whenever you're IO slotting, you WANT to build for a SPECIFIC purpose, instead of pushing a "balanced" overall strategy. If you want to build for AoE damage, concentrate on recharge, recovery, and secondarily push some HP (a little goes a long way, and it's easy to slot for in the shields). If you want to build for survivability, concentrate on either Melee/Smash/Lethal Defense, or concentrate on HP, Regen, and Recharge. A little can go a long way here, too, since an HP capped tanker is at 3200 hps, or thereabouts. Base is something like 2400, and that's a LOT of extra health to soak extra damage.
Ideally, you can come up with a build that allows you to do what you want... but you're almost certain to have to change some of your power choices to build a truly great fire tank. If you're happy with what you've got, then that's fine, but realize that your adamant refusal to swap out a power or two here and there is what's causing your problem, not your lack of phat lewt.
Use Mid's. It's a simple tool that does ALL the math for you. Look at Paragon wiki, look for "sets that increase X" and substitute things like "lethal defense" "smashing resistance" "recovery" or "Max HP" for X. Use those sets that look good.
You've already stated you like the powers you have, and will ignore advice that asks you to change them.
That being the case, you should probably figure out what you want to do on your own using the readily availible, free, and simple tools availible, instead of asking for help and then ignoring it.

I'm interested in using my alt build to work on making a purped out Du! can any one help me figure out the ultimate build? all powers are selected for a reason. The ONLY powers Id be ok with changing are the ancillary powers. I had to make that last sentance stand out because there is always some one trying to tell me to take X power instead and thats not what I am looking for. Below is my current build. PURP ME BABY, yeah.... you know you want to!
