You know, there's a real easy fix for this. There's about 500 people shouting "lf banner team" when an event starts. Rather than join them and wait for someone else to do the work for me, I just started inviting them to MY TEAM. I almost immediately had 8 people, and I got 3 of the banner badges in one shot. Would've had a GM badge too, but it bugged out and spawned 43 feet underground.

I was said to not notice any particularly cool sound for the apocalypse event.

Thats not to say however that I don't love it. ^_^
There is a sound cue when the Apocolypse event starts. There's a faint rumble of thunder and (maybe) a hint of music, too.

Cats are independent, they don't listen, they don't come in when you call, they like to stay out all night, and when they're home they like to be left alone and sleep. In other words, every quality that women hate in a man, they love in a cat. - Jay Leno

You are right, that is a minority opinion. Most people seem to like it, aside from a few issues with lag (and an entire zone crashing in at least two instances for me on Wednesday).

Try doing this with a solo low level elec/elec scrapper fighting all the neg energy damage.
Well, that's silly. It's not intended to be a solo event. If you do it wrong, it's probably not going to be that enjoyable. I did it just fine with my lvl 15 DM/SD brute, my lvl 50 DM/SA brute, my lvl 41 SD/WA tank, and my lvl 50 MA/SR scrapper.

I don't get why more people don't realize this, like seriosly you hear more then 3 or 4 dozen people all calling out for a team not any team but the same type of team you wish to join just random invite the first 7 you can. It aint that hard.

ran the event twice last night
first time got all the badges
second time was just for fun, but on my way to the gm my kid started screaming, turned my head for a second and autofly got me stuck in WW; by the time I got to the gm he was down. I swear I was only like 15 seconds "late".
great event though, almost like a scavenger hunt.

2 nights ago I was ToTing

Suggestion: Get a team of 8 (preferably with friends) together before any event starts with the understanding that you will rush there as soon as it hits. That should address your "I'm always on a small team" issue and probably get you at least 1-2 badges per event, so long as the team is at least decent.

The only major gripe I have with the event is that at times it seems useless to go from banner to banner, especially during the "rush hours". Why? Because of the timer nobody waits for other people or teams to arrive so everyone can get credit for the banners.

Kudos!
I must agree. The new mechanic is very interesting, and, if used properly, I hope we see similar spontaneous world events added to the game in general.

If you have a team of at least 4, have a member or two at each banner from the start. During busy times when the banners dont stay up for long, this will allow the entire team to get the badge for each banner.

We did this on my first run. There were two of us at each banner and as the ones dropped that I wasn't at I still got the badge for them.

Badging in a PvP zone?

If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

then how did the Goat get all the banner badges (save one) last night solo?

maybe I imagined it? Or perhaps I'm just magic!

Well, there is something to what he says. I had one character help fight the GM solo, and I got the reward merits but not the badge. And I had another character not get the badges for 2 of the banners, even though he was on a team and attacking the banners. (I also had a different character get all 6 badges in one event. Yay me.)

I think there is something that can cause the badges to not be awarded properly, wether it is an odd lag effect, an outright bug, or some combination of the two.

Fortunately, the events were happening often enough (and I was home sick) that it wasn't a hardship to get the badges later.

Agreed, I think his is the ninority opinion also. I absolutely love the Halloween event this year. These "new" game mechanics are a breath of fresh air. Please extend these mechanics futher -- into missions and such.

Psssh. Halloween can NEVER have too much content.

And I have to agree with the OP. Holy crap I'm having fun with this. GREAT job, you guys.

Having collected all the new Supernatural Event badges on about twelve characters so far, I have to say I really love this new addition to the Halloween Event. Quite like the mechanics of it too, and wouldn't mind seeing similar additions elsewhere in the game.

Well, they've already confirmed that they'll be expanding the current zone events, and making them more complex, so it's quite likely we'll be seeing this banner tech outside of Halloween

It's interesting to see how things present themselves now that the event isn't as fresh anymore. Personally, I love the Deadly Apocalypse and would like to see more events of its kind. However, I'm seeing problems with a few things. As mentioned earlier in the thread, ToT is sort of hard for low level characters due to the high chance of getting bosses. Some sort of scaling of the spawn sizes would most certainly be welcome.

I vastly prefer the banners to the zombies since there seems to be more of an actual goal other than just "survive". However, it seems like redside has developed a bit of apathy towards the Deadly Apocalypse while still actively participating in the Zombie and Rikti invasions. Granted, this could be due to the fact that they actively pursue you as opposed to being in their own spots but I've had one instance of someone outright quitting a banner team to join a rikti team. This is where the arguements for fluctuating event timers due to server size come into play. When you finally have people interested, the event is nearly over despite the fact that the team is now finally making decent progress on the banners.

Another possible problem is lumping the banner event and the zombies together. I'm not sure if increasing both by the same amount was a good idea. Likewise, it seems like it would be best if the banners were triggered off of something other than Halloween salvage so they don't have to compete with the zombies.

Finally I have a question. Isn't there supposed to be a spot in the game that talks about the event? If there is, where is it?

Because an Arbor Day banner event could be so much cooler, plant X number of trees at each banner, then defeat the Global Warming aspect!
