Ya reading a book also, god forbid, lol. Thanks folks.

The production servers are down for maintenance for 6 hours which is annoying. Are other online games down for maintenance for such long periods of time? Also, the US being the bulk of game players why don't they do the maintenance like around 3 am Eastern time or something. Thanks

Quote:When CoH first was released some folks started calling them glowies, some folks called them clickies -- glowies is the name that stuck. In fact one of the tip screens when zoning refers to them as "glowies". Paragonwiki.com also referrs to them as glowies in its Mission Overview section. When AE was introduced zillions of new players came on board and the term clickie started making the rounds again. When I call them glowies, everyone gets confused and has no idea what the hell I'm talking about.
Personally I find it fascinating that games have an actual etymology, and one specific to that game. In CoX we have "afk for bio", which came from "biobreak", which came from "biological break", which was a joke someone cracked instead of saying "bathroom break." I can't off the top of my head think of some of the others we use but I know there are. -
Have you heard any inkling of news on possible new game mechanics being introduced as part of Going Rogue? I've for so long hoped for employment of new game engine mechanics to add some depth and variety to missions, TFs and such. Clicking glowies, killing stuff, or escorting are essentially the available tasks in the gaming engine to complete all mission objectives. Being able to interact with the world environment and objects in new and innovative ways as mission tasks in otherwords.
Also the otherway around as well, the world environment and objects interacting with me in new and innovative ways. Being ambushed and baddie dialogue are how the world mostly interacts with me currently. Mind you not new ways of interacting with the UI per se, they've definitely added new ways of interacting with my user interface. And please don't say they'll be lots of new Content. :-) More stuff to read and contacts to talk to aren't what I mean. There are tons of examples from other games which could be examples.
My post would also fall into the game suggestion thread. -
Quote:I've been getting this occasionally also where I get that yellow triangle message from Windows saying "low virtual memory". The only correlation I've noticed so far is that it happens when I have itunes running downloading lots of podcasts. But in any instance the virtual memory error doesn't occur for a until a couple hours of game play. Can you guys please give me a specific instance of the memory leak issue? I've followed this for awhile, but I just can't seem to get it to occur. Certain zone? Were there a bunch of events going on in the zone? Nemesis plot?
Thanks again guys!

I have 6 gigs of memory, Core 2 Duo 6700, evga 8700gtx. I might have Windows Virtual Memory set to No Paging File, I'll have to check. -
Agreed, I think his is the ninority opinion also. I absolutely love the Halloween event this year. These "new" game mechanics are a breath of fresh air. Please extend these mechanics futher -- into missions and such.
-
All these event game mechanics are so very interesting and add a wonderfully new layer of depth to the types of tasks you can do to complete an objective. Replacing your compass with dynamic and cool looking graphical slots! Out-of-doors destructible objects -- banner nodes! Little, non-destructible, pumpkin patches and glowing runes symbles and spawning "randomly" in a zone. Taken together I can imagine so many very interesting ways they could be combined into tasks. I know that these mechanics are already available in the PvP zones. I so very much wish they would incorporate these interesting game mechanics into everyday mission objectives. With so much new contant with each Issue I'm not sure
So there's my wish list soapbox for the day. hehe -
Sometimes bugs bleed over to powers with similar aspects so I was think maybe the smoke grenade stealth bug might somehow affect IO stealth activations/deactivations. But just a thought.

Quote:There is a stealth bug in Devices \ Smoke Grenade than might be informative. When you toss Smoke Grenade 1 at a mob there perception is reduced to where you essentially now have Power Pool\Stealth level stealth to that mob. If you then toss another Smoke Grenade at the mob, for a brief instant, their perception returns to normal which of course triggers aggro. This Smoke Grenade bug has appeared and been fixed with a patch and then re-appeared again several times and I always petition it. But there's been no fix forthcoming on its latest re-appearance from a couple issues ago.Yes, Project SIN.
Stealth IOs, when the power that has the IO is triggered, last for 120 seconds after the power is activated. If the power that has the IO is combat jumping, then it lasts until you deactivate the power, and then for 120 seconds afterward. If the power that has the IO is teleport (like Project SIN), then you have to keep using it to reactivate it. But it hadn't deactivated when I was seen.
Also, if the stealth IO is in teleport, you lose that stealth when you activate the teleport power for about two seconds, so you have to be careful where you use it. -
Wasn't there a feature coming where there'd be a weblink we could go to to see our various heroes' stats/build/enhancments, etc? If I am indeede recalling correctly has anyone heard any news on this. I'd really love to see this feature. It would be handy for perusing my build for tweaks ans such when I'm, ahem, on break at work.

Congrats to us. We completed it in 21 minutes flat.

Quote:I disagree. Phase Shift was used extensively in Sirens on Protector and Triumph, mostly as a get-out-of-jail-free card when death was otherwise certain. The DEVs must have agreed it was an issue since they indeed changed it. After it's modifications use of Phase Shift dropped off dramatically in PvP. The DEVs doing some data-mining on the survivibility stats Hibernate use should tell the story.Wow, really? That's what you got from all of mac's posts?
Right before I13 came out, I made a public prediction on these forums that phase would become 100% mandatory for all toons. And I was right. It was a pretty simple prediction to make too, based on the added suppression. Before the change, phase was not even an issue. It was only really used in the high end arena PvP. Very few people had it in zones. Why? Because it wasn't 100% required to survive. People had a choice about what to get. Now it is a requirement. Every single squishy must have either phase, hiber, or preferably both. It's either that, or die every 30 seconds, any time you're outnumbered.
By the way keep in mind that it is human nature that people rarely give up power willingly. -
Removal of the "pathing" restriction in my base it appears will now allow me as the based Leader to cordon of some of the storage bins for my personal use only, since I am the only one who can edit the base and remove the obstruction. A little tedious to have to go into edit mode to get to them but well worth it to me. Since I am mostly a PUG SG I want to keep my valuable Set IO's to my toons only. T'would be nice if they would put granular permissions on storage bins -- as I've been asking for since about 5 issues ago!

It's too soon for me to pass final judgement since it's only been out for only a day but so far all the changes and new content look great. I'm heavy in PvP but again it is too soon to give any feedback until I get some PvP time in on this new issue.
