Questions to ask the Devs at HeroCon regarding Going Rogue
What exactly is giving you those impressions. Your 3 is possible I suppose, though they went to a fair amount of effort to give mirrors of any of the accolades that really provide any real positive power (+hp and the like). I'd imagine you could end up with both of the accolades, but only one copy of the powers myself.
As for the first one. It's actually probably a better question than an assumption really. I've always been under the impression that you could switch sides at any time in your character's career, but now that I think about it, I'm not really sure that it's ever been said either way. |
"careful to have a villain version of all the hero badges and vice-versa"
"what you've earned will stay with you"
"will do the content just for those really hard to get badge rewards"
those three lines lead me to my assumption. I don't recall of any other badges besides accolades that give some type of reward....
i dont think you will be able to use em at the same time however...but when or if you decide to switch back and/or over you would have access to both.
regarding the 50 thing...
My first reason is that it's an expansion. Why would they release an expansion where you didnt have to play the original game first? Another reason is that Villains will not have access to hero epics and heroes will not have access to villain patrons. It would completely unbalance things.
"Youll become a heroic mastermind, youll be a villainous blaster. Keeping it simple is what the players want."
To OneAboveAll:
I highly doubt that we will be restricted to carrying only 50's over for a couple reasons.
1. you're assuming that this is an expansion in the sense of WoW or any other game with a "paid for" expansion. There is no reason that I can see that restricts the majority of the content to the end of the level spectrum, as there isn't an increase in level cap as far as we know.
2. Being as how there will be starter areas for new characters, your theory would limit the new content to those who "give in and make a new character" or take over a 50, leaving all others out of luck.
3. Where would this leave characters sitting at or near 35? considering that the exp equivalent of levels 1-35 and 36-50 is about the same, a character would litterally have to grind the rest of the way up before trying out the new content they purchased, or let all 35 levels be in vain and reroll the character at level 1 just to experience Going Rogue. As far as we know, there is no level cap increase, so it's not logical to assume that all the areas will be level restricted.
No one is saying that you wouldn't have to "play the game first" because technically you've already got a taste of the game if you've gotten a character to 20+. (you're also forgetting that the majority of the players are vets of some measure, so technically the ratio of vets to newbs is very much in favor of the vets)
and as far as the hero epics and patron epics goes, read the OP and read my thoughts on it. it's likely that the villains who switch prior to doing the villain epic arcs and go full hero will automatically gain access to them. but we won't know for sure until someone asks about it at HeroCon.
Not to add fuel to a fire, but haven't the devs said that a large majority of accounts don't even have a 50? I can't imagine they'd create a whole expansion for only a small number of long-termers and then try to sell it in a new box on the shelf to attract new customers. "Don't worry new-comer! After you grind your way to 50, you can play the new material we've added in this box!"
i have a question, what about IOPs? or the COP? going to get them out? or are you hoping we will all forget about them and just think about the new shineys?
or what about recipe storage in bases?
any chance of adding a 2X Merit weekends? 2x weekend is not as fun anymore with the New SSK rules.
what about the calendar wallpapers you used to have ,they were great for planning on getting the invasion badges.
any plans on merging some of the low pop servers?(I know they willnot answer this one with other than a no or no comment)
will Going Rogue be out by christmas 2010?(ok joke)

I think that the % of people with a level 50 has increased greatly since that was stated to be honest.
Im expecting content covering all ranges

So if any of the Ae babies are still around after not being able to go from 1-50 in 2-3 days, then there should be a much larger amount of accounts with 50's. Even so, you're right, they'll have a really hard time selling going rogue if they limit the content to end-game levels and newbie characters.
So my impressions were correct....except that the level at which you can start the switch from hero to villain is still being determined internally however it is not something you can do at any lvl.
Now my guess since it's not going to be 50....im going to guess its gonna be 32+ or 38+.

Far far too high imo, somewhere in the teens/low 20's imo
