Market Money and the Lottery

Everytime I have to pay for the Market or my base.. its like okay where is te money going within the economy of the game. Well I know its fake money and goes nowhere... but I thought after I found St Martial and the slot machine how fun it would be to have the money spent on the Market and bases to be put into some kind of gaming system to earn money or just a lottery.

So today the Market raised 1.5 BILLLOOOON Dollars.. and have a chance once a day, once an hour or whatever to win all the loot or a percent based on who pulls the arm on the slots at the time.

The good sets are so hard to obtain within the game because of the large price tags on things such as hecatombs or PVP enhancements. I know that you can obtain them by doing SF and other things from the merit system... this is just an idea for some fun in the game.

I spent half a billion on one enhancment, would be sweet to have a new way to get that back besides the dreaded "farming" the game at 50 for money or passing money between my toons.

The game needs money sinks.

Before the market went in, the Devs made a post saying that there was over a Trillion Influence in the system. That money can be made very, very quickly playing the game. It needs to exit the system at some point, or rapid inflation will occur as everyone can afford more and more.

Putting all of the money that was sunk back into the system would be a bad idea, I think.

There's a slot machine in CoH?

Fee = realism. I have no probs that my lev 1 can't sell his insp from Outbreak until he gets 350 for the fee at Went.

No lottery! [And I'm not even baptist.]

I dont think a lottery of sorts, would be a horrible idea, tho i dont think that it should just use the money wentsworth accumulates.

I think it should have a fee, (1000inf buys a ticket) and at the end of the day, or week, that money gets split in half, at which point the winner would recieve half, and the other half would get put back into the system, much like Wentsworth does with its fee's.

It could be another way to sink money back into the system perhaps, i wont hold my breath:P

That's not a bad idea.

Some enterprising individual really ought to create a lottery using the existing in game means.

Oh wait ...

The OPs proposal goes against the whole idea of the market being an inf sink, and as such cannot be supported in the current form. Some variation of the way Smurphy ran his coded in game using only the inf put into it (and taking a 10% or so cut ontop) would however be reasonable.

A Paragon state sponsored lottery? Interesting idea, as it will take more inf than it gives, while giving the lucky winner the opportunity of a character-time.

Yeah -- a lottery as an ADDITIONAL source of inf drain, particularly one that paid off badly so that it took much more money out of circulation than it put back in, would exert badly-needed anti-inflationary pressure. Something that costs us MORE money than we are now losing. But not one that recycles the market fees back into purchasing power, unless you want to pay 50 million for a yellow TO.

edit: wait a minute -- you spent half a billion on one enhancement, and you're looking for free money? Enhancements cost half a billion because of you.

Why not? A lottery, by definition, is an inf sink.

(Hey, devs! Open up some one-armed bandits in the Golden Giza Casino!)

I still think they should have gambling and poker in Pocket D and other appropriate places. Let the rake be the money sink!

I would love to play poker with my influence

1. Attacking a person that points out the obvious flaws to an ill concieved idea isn't going to win people to your side. If you can't handle negative feedback then you should refrain from posting until you've grown up.

2. Suggestion forums is that way -------->

3. Get over your sense of entitlement. You don't deserve inf (money) back just because you spent it. It has to be earned by either killing npc's or working the market.
