I need help...

Everyone else is like this, I'm sure.

Right?

Hello?

I had a nice long stretch of not being sick for a good 15+ years. I could be surrounded by viral, germ-volcanoes and have no issue. That's no longer the case for unknown reasons. ...but the interesting thing is that I react the exact same way now being sick as I did well before in the past. It's eerie.

I'm sure most people would say something similar, but when I get sick, I get sick. The worst is the flu of course, and the only time it'll affect me is when I'm hitting the 103 temp marks. I luckily haven't had to deal with that in a nice long stretch now (the cold is another story); but the worst part of the flu was the dreams that I got with it. That's when I knew I had the flu: I have the *exact same dream* every time and it scares the beejebus out of me. Though if I think about it/talk it out loud, I have to wonder why I'm so scared in the dream of this dream. It's just silly. But it's terrifying for whatever reason. Let's just say it involves dancing Hippos with rabies, running down a mountain, an avanlanche of trees/logs , and no escape. I wake up at the exact same spot every time.

Now the cold is a different story; generally mild and mostly annoying, but tolerable. Expect the dreams, man. The dreams! They all involve some kind of violence, explosions, paranoia/conspiracy, chasing....and never have anyone I could possibly recognize from real life (I don't even know them in the dream). I'm generally not even in my own dreams, but looking through someone else's experiences. The rare few I'm in, it's 3rd person view only. Yet I feel all the anxious paranoia that's going on in the dream. While the dreams are different, the theme is always the same. A recent one I had had the person I was looking through actually die.....then I woke up. Another time had me "wake up" and attacked by a ghost made out of a plain white T shirt.

Wild ride man. And this is all done without the use of medication. But I'm sure this is all pretty normal fare for others. I'm just bored and my imaginary friends are tired of hearing the same ole made up stories, so I thought I'd share here.

I welcome your comments.

Have you considered seeing a doctor?

I understand Dr. Kevorkian has a short waiting list.

When I run a high fever I get dual perspective, extreme closeup and panoramic, of whatever I'm dreaming. When that happens, I KNOW I'm sick.

So you got hot blooded and it gave you double vision? What you need to do is get a wet compress cold as ice and then hold it on your head. If you put the compress in the freezer first and it ices over, break it up first or it will turn into a headknocker.

This sickness is likly a reaction to action. You probably got sick because you're a dirty white boy and lived an urgent night life..

Try drinking more water, and possibly orange juice.

In my life there is sick and there is work sick. If am sick its usually just bad one terrible day. Work sick involves a slight headache and maybe a tiny bit of a throat ache.

I am bored too btw.

Here is the real story... I have to be nearly dead to call in sick on a Monday or Friday. I never want my boss to think I am extending my weekend. In 13 years I may have called in sick on those days once. I am also bad of coming to work and trying to make it, when I would never expect or demand that of my staff. Heck even my boss would rather I just stay home sick.

Lets talk about vacation days. I don't get how people take whole weeks off at a time. I can only remember taking a whole week off since I started working once. I like taking an extra day for a 3 day weekend or slipping out a few hours here and there.

While you may find my response dull, it did entertain me for a few momemts.

I'm with you, War, but where I work (financial institution) it's a common practice to have a policy forcing all staff at all levels to take a minimum of one "block" of 5 vacation days, in a row, per calendar year. I've avoided it, though, by the company not enforcing it -- until this year. Now our auditor is tracking it (with HR and Payroll's help), so I have to baby-sit my staff, make sure they all take their 5-day blocks, and then do it myself as well.

I know why it's done (because during a block of time like a week, generally there's a good chance to catch staff who are embezzling or stealing over time), but it still doesn't suit my personal preferences.

He's right to be suspicious; it's no coincidence that forty percent of all sick days are taken on Mondays and Fridays.
