Two weeks in a row? Weren't they surprised last week and had troulbe getting ther servers back up? I have said this before, but if you staff is continually surprised, why do you keep them around? I am not cancelling my subscription over extended maintainence, but it wouldn't hurt to get it right a couple of weeks in a row.

Quote:My point stands. But not in the industry? Programming is full of surprises, especially with something this complicated. Look how often Windows gets patched; introducing new content can change how existing content worked. Just nature of the beast...
As for the extended maintenance, it can cover a lot of ground: new hardware, replacing existing hardware, reboots, defrag, etc. A good network admin knows that any job can take longer than expected. You can try to plan as much in advance as possible, but you can't plan for the unexpected; it's just that, unexpected. -

I am sure running a MMO is complicated, but it just seems they get stuck with lots of unexpected issues. Couldn't they hire more talented folks who might be able to get ahead of problems and expect stuff?

@Wartron
Warton Humble Pie
Lance Williams lost his arms serving his country in Iraq. He turned to science as his new way to serve his county. Working late one night the 5th Column broke into his lab stealing much of his life's work. It was at that point he created his battle suit which use cybernetic to control his robotic arms (robotic legs were not avialable when he was created). No one would steal my property again. Thus began the career of Wartron.
Wartron took pride is being a good tank. Facing off with the likes of Lord Reculse, Lusca, Hamidon and many, many more. When the call came down for a tank to lead the way he answered the call.
When teaming, everyone referred to him as Wart. That was fine. He was a tough old tank routing out evil like a Wart hog. Many villains were banished, Maurader, Bob Cat, Anti-Matter, it didn't matter Wartron was up for the task.
Then the defining moment of this tank of tank's career happened. After romping and stomping around the Pagagon City for three years a friend named PerilX asked why my Global was Warton. I don't remember my first character's name was, but we had been granted a one time Global Name Change token and I misspelled my own name. That is when I knew the taste of humble pie. If you ever encounter me in-game acting foolish, just call me Warton and I will straighten up. -
Warton as far as Zone pvp, there will always be some zone activity (on larger servers) but zone to me has always been about "zomg whats the latest broken power!" Yes judgement nukes are a bit OP and may need to be visited in the future of CoH PvP, but give it time, new things are introduced with unexpected/anticipated results and it takes time to figure out how best to deal with them. You can always join us on Fridays 9pm est for kickballs (while we are teaching Boot Camp2) at least untill we pick our teams then Fridays will become actual matches rather then Kickballs.
Don't quit on us now buddy.[/QUOTE]
Thanks Masque. I did break down my blaster on Victory, but he is not too broken. If they give us some free transfers I think I would perfer my fire/em to the nrg/em I have available. Off the subject, I have gone to using Force Mastery on my blaster lately, is Ice Mastery better for team matches? -
Thumbs down
The trails are fairly interesting, but this issue is a bust to me. I really enjoy zone PVP, but that has vanished. It is now a game of seeing who's judgement is charged. Even PVE is taking a hit in my eyes. You can now gain so many abilities that there are no tasks, trails or missions that present a challenge. I think the game is uninteresting in the high end now. That does leave low level game and maybe that will keep me around for a little longer. -
Welcome back, I was thinking of creating a em/fire armor tank in tribute to Crazy a couple weeks back. Then I saw a shiney nickel on the ground and didn't get that project going.
-
I am always late to the party. Sounds like a great event. I am working on a time machine to be able to go back in time and show up and show my support.
-
Hey Masque and everyone. I am mainly a zone dog, but I do have a blaster left on Victory. I might can get a villain up to zone worthy either via GR or a respec I did move one of my ice/pain rupters to victory, scourge TF is awesome btw. I wouldn't mind helping you guys. I can fill in for your practice or be a target in the zone. I am @Wartron if you can use a hand.

I plan to attend unless my Real Life starts before then.
-
Having a mezz bind sounds like planning to fail.
-
I worked on nearly nothing. I was just not into a new build as I was busy with some existing projects.
Mors Cadeus Bane 22-27
Tigertron claw/invuln scrapper 48-49
Wartron BS/Regen Scrapper 19-22
With double XP extended through today maybe I will go ahead and get Tiger that last level. -
In my life there is sick and there is work sick. If am sick its usually just bad one terrible day. Work sick involves a slight headache and maybe a tiny bit of a throat ache.
I am bored too btw.
Here is the real story... I have to be nearly dead to call in sick on a Monday or Friday. I never want my boss to think I am extending my weekend. In 13 years I may have called in sick on those days once. I am also bad of coming to work and trying to make it, when I would never expect or demand that of my staff. Heck even my boss would rather I just stay home sick.
Lets talk about vacation days. I don't get how people take whole weeks off at a time. I can only remember taking a whole week off since I started working once. I like taking an extra day for a 3 day weekend or slipping out a few hours here and there.
While you may find my response dull, it did entertain me for a few momemts. -
Quote:You were correct, but does that negate the chance you are crazy?I'd been testing drop numbers on my scrapper since I16 went live and knew recipe drops were definitely off. Of course, it didn't help that someone in VB was calling me nuts when I mentioned this.
I might actually be crazy, but not because of this.
I'm glad they finally found the error.
I don't know if this will affect purple drops or not. It does seem odd that they seem to rain down like candy for some people and others never seem to get them (I think I've only had 4 or 5 drop, but I don't necessarily play 50s all that frequently, either). Ultra Rare drops and the cruel nature of random numbers being random make this difficult to test in that regard. -

I am crashing to the desktop Redside. Seems to only occur in AE missions though. I hope that maintainence will clean up some issues.

It was a lot of fun. I didn't get to team with you at all
Warton feel bad.
Thanks Peril. -
It was a lot of fun. Good event. I can see coming on a regular basis.

Ok just something interesting to note. I don't think PVP is as important as you say, because as several people here mentioned... The pvp areas are almost always empty... Now heres the interesting part... I tried pvp, but I personally find it annoying in the idea that in coX you find out that there are only so many powersets and setups that are really at all good for pvp. I have experimented with all sorts of at's and powersets, and well, lets just say only some of those excel at pvp, and the rest are mostly pve. And some of the pvp excelling powersets also excel at pve... so the game is way more balanced for pve, as it has been since the arena opened. If it gets a little more balanced, I might just join in on all this pvp fun, but until then... I"m pve all the way.

Don't confuse a low popualation in a PVP zone for anything other than those folks are grinding up there next PVP toon. We have to lvl too. Further many PVP minded folks play on several servers and go from server to server PVP zone to PVP zone to find the fight that intrests them most.
