Logged in forums as someone else?!

Just this morning I was going to log on here, as I always do... And when I hit "log on" this was what appeared:

Needless to say, this is NOT ME. When I tried doing anything it said I wasn't logged on, obviously, but... I had to log OUT to get back to where I could actually type MY login info.

What the HELL is that?!

If you're storing your login information so the forums log you in automatically, there may be something up with the cookies or the session ID matching one of those profiles. I noticed this earlier today and sent a PM, as it is a breach in security, and didn't exactly merit a public thread.

Wait, no I'm not. But I was. Now I'm confused....

I don't think you can actually do anything from that page...I've noticed that the server time listed at the bottom of the page does not move at all...it's always been 8:08 PM.

It seems to be whoever's at the front of the "Who's On" list is showing up in the Welcome, $name marker.

Now I've got to go back to my spot in King's Row before the boss sees me using this computer..

I just saw this same thing. it said I was "delrune." I logged out and signed in again and it seems to be normal now. odd.

I, too, was Delrune.

Happened to me as well. Had me logged on as Paladin. Was pretty weird and confusing.

My guess would be that the common factor between all of you is either XP or IE7.

IE8 isn't doing this for me. Firefox isn't doing this for me. Vista isn't doing this for me. Windows 7 isn't doing this for me.

Currently, I'm only getting it on XP and IE7. I had uninstalled Firefox on that computer when I replaced a drive and haven't reinstalled it yet. Once I get it reinstalled I'll test it, but only with the newest version of Firefox. That should tell us whether it is an XP specific item or an IE7 specific item.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Nope! Windows 7 and Firefox 3.5.3 here.

To provide further clarification, I highly doubt this is a client-side issue, as I can personally vouch for no changes to my system in at least the last week. My sysadmin sense is tingling that this is either vBulletin being screwy or something else on the back-end.

I'm doubting that OS or browser has anything to do with it. I'm using Vista and Firefox 3.5.

Very odd indeed. After installing Firefox 3.5.3 on my XP system, it refuses to let me log in. Well, that's not exactly correct. It will let me log on, welcomes me to the forum, then takes me back to the main page not being logged in. I've cleared Everything in my History and it will let me log in and stay logged in, even having checked Remember Me when I logged in. Until I close the browser that is. After that, if I re-open the browser I get taken to the main page as not being logged in.

As stated in my previous post, it isn't doing this on my Vista system or my Windows 7 system using either IE8 or FF 3.5.3 as the browser. Very curious.

Hmmm. Both the Vista and Windows 7 system I tested on are 64-bit versions. I'll load up the 32-bit Windows 7 installation on the other computer and see how it does.

EDIT: Okay. Getting the same thing on my Windows 7 32-bit install that I got on my XP system. Surely this isn't a 32-bit vs 64-bit problem. Anyone having the problems on a 64-bit OS?

I don't have it set to log in automatically and it still said I was someone else.
