They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Back when I played primarily on Victory, "fist" was censored for about a month, turning one of the server's then most prominent groups into the "<bleep!> of Justice." Many amusing and disgusting theories for why this word was censored were proposed at the time, but the official line was that it was a bug. Eventually, it became uncensored again.

"Jester" is apparently censored, too. This one's got me baffled.

"What the cabbage is $name doing here!"

"How in socks are you so powerful?!"

"Oh versimilitude! My evil plan is obfuscated!"

This is actually a pretty effective work-around. Years back I recall reading an interveiw with a comics guy talking about this; he just got more creative with it. I went this route in my third arc so that the line

"...as if you gave a rat's (hinder) about any of that junk."

became

"...as if you gave a rat's scab about any of that junk."

On the other hand, it can be fun typing in a grawlix on your own too. The boss in the same arc says "Oh #&*%@!" when you defeat him - very comicbooky.

Please totally ignore the existence of Urban Dictionary. If you use Urban Dictionary as a reference for what words might be deemed offensive, then chances are, the majority of the English language (and probably several other languages as well) will end up being censored.
Wish that were possible. If what you suggest actually happened, all of those words that were eventually added to the standard dictionary with pejorative definitions, would offend all those people looking for something to take offense to. Then the forums would be inflamed by them and their ilk and all the people trying to refute them (or belittle them).

Broad brush is cheaper.

'Rich' comes to mind.

As discovered by others, you can't use the phrase "Nip it in the bud" in the AE. I'm not sure if the issue is talking about the milk-giving bump thingies or offensive 1940's era slang towards the Japanese.

You can just work around the phrase entirely but there's time when you just want to say "Nip it in the bud".

In many cases, I find this works better than some watered-down version of a swear word. If it's in-character for your NPC to swear, then he should swear, even if he gets bleeped. And like you said, it's very comic-booky.

Strung together, all these words could be used to write a steamy BDSM novel.

The servers don't have the natural language parsing ability to tell the difference.
It is rather easy to write extremely suggestive text without triggering the filters at all. They do nothing.

Yeah I find it rather funny/sad that God is blocked but satan isn't.

No, honestly. See also "coon".
We can't even talk about raccoon now?! How am I supposed to finish my story arc where The Zookeepah and his army of trained Raccoons pull bank heists all over the city?

For instance, "Thank god," always sounds more grateful or emphatic than, "Thank goodness," to me (unless the person being saved is a virginal damsel in distress, or a southern belle I suppose).
That should be "(unless the person being saved is an unpopped cherry damsel in distress, or a southern belle I suppose)."

or perhaps "(unless the person being saved is an non-destroyed hymen damsel in distress, or a southern belle I suppose)."

I suppose you could go with the much less offensive "strangle it in the crib."
