Update:
Still playing around with the lighting, but I added in some decorative untis to really give that "united" feel. I think I am going to go a bit brighter.

The secret is stacking tables where the SG logo would be. I use the logo thats right underneath the hourglass in the SG window options because it takes up less glass space.

heh, That was why I was asking if you used all lit lights or mixed and matched to enhance the non-lit ones. Glad you found 'em. Great job with your new project so far. Love the trophy cases you put together in there as well.

Perez, inspired by Turbo, I did use the star field concept with my porters. Not near as nice as Turbo's is gonna look, but here's a peek if you wanna look.

I like your TP idea. I am going to do something similar though I don’t want to copy your exact design but it does look amazing. I was thinking of maybe stacking two teleporters on top of each other allowing for more star fields.

I will post some pics tonight.

I used the small lights and placed them using the walls of the cubicles making sure to add depth as I went along.

Absolutely awesome!

2 cents: the stars are distant enough that starfields look flat to our eyes (Star Trek notwithstanding). Are you putting the lights all on the far wall to produce the same effect?

I see some mention of 'adding depth', but if we can see depth by moving around, that would ruin the effect, I'd think?

(Taking notes for my own eventual rebuild.)

I used the walls of cubicles to place lights every so often. So I could place three cubicles one behind another then place the lights on the walls. Then you delete the cubicles and the lights float in space (no pun intended).

Send me a global tell @turbo_starr and I can show you how I did it.

I tried double stacking tech teleporters, and it doesn't seem to work. The top of the tech teleporter is too bulky and overlaps the terminal to select your destination. However, the arcane teleporters doublestack nicely (see my pics here or just a pic of them).

If you happen to get the tech teleporters to stack would you mind posting some pics? I'd rather use them as I can't stand the pink glow of the arcane ones.

Yeah, im actually working on a design in MS paint for this. I tried to stack them before but it looked horrific. If the stacking wont work, I may have an alternative but I need to play around with the room first. I will post once Im satisfied with the initial layout.

You could try offset stacking where there are horizontal gaps between telepads, and the top pads line up with the bottom gaps (think a W shape). You don't save as much space but you do save some - and the gaps could be set up with seating and glass as starfield viewing areas. Or as teleporter control/maintenance areas.

Here's another look at doublestacking Arcane Teleporters in the Spring Knights base (full base overview shot):

And if you can't stand the look of the "pink glow" in the Arcane Telepads ... try turning off the room lighting, and making sure the pads stay in darkness. Looks a lot different when it's a beautiful *purple* glow, rather than a washed out pink-y glow (due to too much light).

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

I'm working on the outer shell. Still messing around with it, but I can start to picture it in my head. The outside part is going to be where the stars/space theme will be. Inside, I am going to have a glass walkway leading to a corner room hiding a TPer or just a hang out spot. I was thinking of putting some plants in the center where I am standing to give it that "good guy" feel.

I have yet to close off the top part, so try tio picture it the best you can for now. I am going to make the walkway first which is outlined by the tile, then I will work on the stairs. My next update should have that done.

Sweet ideas Turbo

Hmm, I wonder if you could keep the lighting low enough in that room to borrow Redlynne's "planet" idea, and put one in the corner there somewhere. With the proper lighting it might turn out really well.

Started to add the stairs and walkways. The room now holds 4 tpers, all of which I indented inside the walls to give it that shuttle feel. The top deck is going to be a runway for the little vet flyers you can unlock. I think I am going to make some glass air shafts as well.

Looks amazing! I am really impressed with the stacking of the stairs. I have never seen them in that "L" form.

I have pictures to update (computer crashed). Just about done with the floor design and ready to add the stars.

I spend the weekend working on the room only to find that a few tings I was trying to do didn’t fit the layout. Sooooo....

I need to start from scratch. *hangs head*
