D.r.a.t. #3
I'm gonna throw myself in as a participant!
Can I leave the particular character open and decide once we know who the artist is, if I win?
I'll throw Fibber McGee into the hat... And since he's just 4' tall he's easy to throw:
Being a bit of a split personality, he's on Red and Blue side (Fibber MacGee on Blue) - Ever since he's had his pot of gold stolen he's just not been himself. Sure, he's always a bit cranky, perverted and rude but he's got to replenish his pot of gold somehow, thus he travels on the red side... Without his gold he can't tap into his normal magics so he's had to resort to getting physical (Elec/Elec Brute, Invuln, Energy Tanker) in order to get it back.
I could easily picture Gray Huntress holding him up in the air triumphantly as McGee looks all disgruntled at being caught.

Oh and EnnVee, don't forget to mention who you'd want a crossover with

You mean you want to be both a character and an artist? You can go ahead and submit your character for who you want to be with and if you happen to win both then I'll discuss with you in private which you'd prefere, then I'll draw again for the category you didn't choose.

I wanted to know if I could submit to be in the commission, with which character to be determined based on whomever wins as artist. I might like a different character depending on who's doing the drawing, you know?
You should feel free to say, "Just pick, douchey!"
Just bringing this thread back up since the drawing is in two days. If you want to join you have until I wake up on the 15th whenever that will be (could very well be in the evening).
I've added some artists from dA into the hat to increase the odds.
I would like to wish everyone luck, but there can only be one from each category unfortunately
I still think Midnight-Man and Gray Huntress would be a cool team up.
The hard part was choosing who to submit, we already have some catgirls and demonesses so that narrows it down a bit.
Amanita Infernis, my Plant Control/Fire Assault Dominator. She's a fence who runs a smuggling operation between Paragon City and the Rogue Islands, so I could see her getting into a brawl with either of the girls over a deal gone bad (or interrupted). She doesn't care a whole lot about good and evil as she just wants to make a profit, though she does have some standards.
Oh yeah, don't ask her about what happened to her left eye. That trenchcoat with all the holes and burn marks is a souvenir from someone who thought it'd be fun to mock her over it.
She also appears as an ally in the two villainous AE arcs "MacGuffin Delivery Service" and "A Show of Hands".
I'm out but this is a cool idea and a really nice gesture on your part.
Keep spreadin teh artz lovin'!
Ahhh! I forgot to reply to this! I will use my archer, Artemis Troy:
Wow almost forgot about this =P
I have to go with Rainbow Jester and Demon Trix just feel like they could have some fun.
Just a reminder, it's not the 15th until I wake up so when I do, then I'll announce it's closed. Until then people can dive right in.
Rise and shine everybody, I hope everyone slept well if you did indeed sleep...if not I hope you enjoyed your night (or alternative time of day based on where you are on the globe). I'll be drawing the winners soon enough, but this is the official closing of the entries.
I'm not going to pull from the hat yet (granted I'm using a random number generator), since I feel grungy, and I don't like the taste of morning breath, and I look frumpy. But I will announce the chances.
There were a total of 25 entrants to be drawn for the character, which means you have a 4% chance of getting picked.
There are 8 artists in the hat, even though only two volunteered on the boards...this is because I went fishing on dA so it wouldn't be an easy win. However, in fairness, I did give Turkey Lurkey and Johnnykat a 25% chance each of winning, while the remaining artists I added split the remaining 50% (so they have an 8.3% chance each).
Alrighty, feelin' a little more awake, so here are the winners of the third Double Random Art Tossup!!!
And winner for Lucky Character is...
Powerstream's Crescent Blade to be paired with Jackalynn! You can post the acceptance speech later.
The winner for Lucky Artist is...
Happens chance smiled upon CelticBolt! (hehe, funny thing is this will be the fourth time I'll be requesting Jackalynn art from him...)
Well I don't know if I can say it was close...because it wasn't a race but a lottery, but still several characters presented inspired me with some great crossover ideas which I may need to save for a later date. And everyone loves crossovers because who wants to stand alone?
Again, congratulations Powerstream! (and if CelticBolt happens to read this I'll be talking with you)
Since I like to coordinate with my commissions, I'll be talking with you later Powerstream about composition ideas and such, so start brainstorming...but we won't talk until this evening at the earliest since I have somewhere to be. I'll send a PM or you can send me one if you want to throw some ideas at me while I'm away.
Gratz to the winners!
Interesting!

Slag Heap: Why you hurt Guardian!? Guardian no hurt you!
So wait. I didn't win? Is this what being a loser feels like? Oh God, I can't take it. How do you people live with this?!
I'll throw my namesake into the ring.
Oathbound is a case of "He thinks, therefore he is." Though he doesn't know it, he was accidentally killed (along with his entire village) by an immensely powerful Illusion/Empathy controller (I don't have a name for him). Stricken with grief over this, the controller found the last surviving villager and created an illusion which he embedded with as much of the young man's fleeting consciousness as possible, effectively resurrecting him, though there was significant gaps in Oathy's memory and inherent flaws in his psyche. He(the controller) never told Oathbound of the events that transpired that day.
The two would later become inseperable friends, and traveled the world together fighting for justice and freedom (and redemption).
Eventually when the controller died, he imbued his illusion with the entirety of his psychic energy, prolonging Oathbound's life indefinitely. Oathbound fights crime and injustice, mostly because it's all that he can really remember ever doing.
As far as his appearance goes, there are a few things that can't be depicted in game. He's kind of an amalgamation of a Judeo-Christian Seraphim and a Hindu diety, in that he has six arms and six wings.

Notes about Oathy's personality...
He's outwardly very reserved and somewhat aloof, sometimes to the point of seeming cold, or apathetic. This is largely due to the fact that he has outlived nearly everyone he's ever met, so he is wary of growing attatched to anyone, knowing that he will only suffer their eventual loss.
He has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, and rarely actually laughs at things he finds amusing or humorous, tending only a slight, sly smile.
Oathbound has no qualms with killing when he needs to, though he does save it as a last resort, as it has a detrimental effect on his psyche. As a side effect of his creator's remorse and guilt, whenever he or Oathbound were in a situation where they had to kill someone or witnessed someone they cared about die, they absorbed a small fragment of that person's consciousness into themselves. As time goes on, and more and more people died/were killed more and more of his psychic power is required to keep his own mind in balance, thus reducing his cambat capabilites. (This is in fact how the controller died, so much of his own psychic energy was being used to maintain his illusion and his own psyche that he was no longer capable of healing his own wounds and died to a shot in his heart from a Council soldier.)
As far as who he might be paired with, he could really go any way.
He is a defender, so could be paired with Grey Huntress fighting against some shadowy figure. It could also be interesting seeing him pit his psychic powers against Jackalynn's. Or pair him up with Demon Trix, and have an immortal on (effectively) immortal battle royale.
