Infinity's Representatives to CO

Who plans on playing the game?

I'm currently in the Beta, but can't bring myself to play it because it is so laggy and apparently I've lost patience as I've gotten older.

The character creator is nice though.

I'll still be trying it, and I know KS will be there as well. Who else from Infinity will be there? We've gotta get some coordination going.

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

We won't be going to CO, as many of your know we have moved on to AION....there are quite of few of us there if any one is interested in joining us send us a PM

I am a firm believer that this has no place on the infinity server forum. That is all.

Also, CO's graphics suck.

That is all.

I lost interest in CO during the closed Beta. Good luck, and have fun, but I'm sticking with City.

I'm more concerned about DCUO than Champs.
To be Honest, I'll get a Trail when they come out, and If I like it, I may play both City and Champs, same goes for DCUO.

I've spent quite a bit of time playing the CO Open beta... and I would be fibbing if I said I wasn't interested. I really only see one aspect of CO's graphics that are horrible.... and that's the Anti Aliasing and the odd blurring effect they put on EVERYTHING when you are viewing things from a distance. It just makes everything look muddy and... well... ugly. However, if you zoom in while playing, the graphics are actually quite a bit better than CoH's. Their attention to shadows and lights particularly impressed me... and Millennium City's scale is just incredible. I can see the good in the game, and I can see it getting polished and gaining loyalty at the same level CoH has.... which is good.... because that forces CoH to step up it's game and offer interesting 'upgrades'. From what I can tell, they seem to be doing that with Going Rogue. And from what I've read... I just might have to purchase a month of gameplay for it's release. It should be very interesting.

Anyway, at this point in time.... a game has to be truly exceptional for it to take my MMO spot. Unfortunately for CO (And CoH... and a few others that I'm looking at) Aion has taken that spot.

I was looking forward to CO, actually, as some of my friends had already moved over to the Beta (After getting banned for bug exploitation here.... Morons.). Initially, I was very impressed by the sheer number of choices on the character creation screen - until I toyed with it for three minutes. Then I realized that all the choices you're given are utterly inconsequential. So you can plaster your nose on your forehead if you want, that's great - but why are there all of twelve costume items?

Nevertheless, I threw together a (crappy and wholly unequal) clone of my character Sarge, and attempted to drive on.

Boy, was THAT a mistake.

The graphics are really nothing special. So its cel-shaded - that's fantastic for comic books. In video games, it gives me a headache. The controls feel like they're fighting me every step of the way, I can't just simply doubleclick on something and expect it to work, I absolutely HAVE to press Z, hearing certain characters say the SAME EXACT LINE every 20 seconds grates on your nerves after the second time, its almost a complete and utter blatant rip-off of City...

Long story short, my list of complaints about CO is extensive. I'm sure if I gave it more of a chance, and I will in the future (idiot me got the lifetime - it was too good of a deal to pass up, especially if the game lasts more than two years), but I can see me paying my subscription to City for a long time to come. And paying happily for CoX. And playing it more.

By my math, its summed up in one equation - CoX > CO.

Why is that? I've met some cool people here. If they're going to be going over to that game anyway, I'd like to continue playing with them.

They certainly didn't impress me when I first fired up the game.

QFT. This is not supporting the community of the Infinity server at all.

what makes you think that? Chris is a inhabitant of Infinity and is asking if any other Infinites will also be trying CO. Therefore, it's Infinity related.

Anyways, I'll be trying out CO once free trials go out, I don't care if it's $5, I'm not spending $5 to a open beta =\

It's Free.
Open Beta is FREE. You just have to sign up for File Planet, and that has a Free Option, it just makes you take forever to do so.

Okay, I played the Free Beta, and I'm done.
I love the Character Creation, but in the end, the game doesn't take itself seriously enough.
It's all just a bunch of cell shaded "Hey-Comic-aren't-serious-in-anyway" "Comics-aren't-a-viable-story-telling-medium" let's make fun of it.
It feels like one of those Animes that attempts to make fun of superheroes but just shows why anime is inferior(Typically) to comics(mostly).
I mean, City of Heroes does that sometimes, but in the end, I feel the Devs wholy believe in the story they're telling, but with CO it feels like they're laughing their ***** off with every single thing they do. That kind of devlopment is why Deadpool isn't good, why Ambush Bug isn't good, and why any of those kind of things aren't good.

Your logic has absolutely escaped me. Just because he happens to play on infinity doesnt mean ANYTHING he talks about is infinity related. CO and infinity have 0 relation other than the people making CO ripped off the game infinity is part of. It is outright rude to discuss it on this forum. IF you havent noticed (you may not, maybe because your one of them) this servers forum has been plagued by a select few who seem to be campaigning against the game on its forums. Im tired of it. I understand giving farewell speeches, not a biggie (as long as its one.) I am not against people saying where they will be going in those speeches (as long as they actually go and dont constantly stop by and never actually leave.) I dont care about what game you are now playing after leaving CoH. This is not your SG's forum, this is the CoX infinity server community forum. Go tell your actual friends about where your going and crap, Im not your friend and I dont care.

I swear there is a games and for fun section on the CoX forums....

I didn't realize the INTERNET POLICE were on RED ALERT.

You're crusading against the wrong guy. I'm not bad-mouthing this game, I'm simply asking if other people are going to try out the other game, and if so, we should meet up. I didn't say anything negatively about CoH; you simply inferred it so you could have the argument that apparently you've been dying to have.

We can do that if you want... But my subscription expires within a few days, so just know I'll assume I won INTERNET DEBATE '09 if I'm suddenly disallowed to post.

Er, while I'm kinda a newcomer to actually posting much, especially in the Infinity forums...I did used to lurk quite a bit.

If I am remembering my Infinity history correctly, Chris used to be a pretty active member on Infinity. Helping with the community, and whatnot. Or he was one of our lolzdrama people who helped dub Infinity the 'drama' server. Either or...

He isn't exactly bashing CoX, just mentioning that he was moving on (permanently or not, I'm not sure), and asking if any of the people he's been playing with for umpteenump years are going to be there as well. Given that both Chris and the OSHA's have 'left' the game multiple times (again, relying on memory, apologies if I'm wrong), I wouldn't really be getting my panties in a bunch over them doing what amounts to a goodbye post and asking if friendly folk will be going where they are.

And given the revolving door that seems to be attached to the game, I'm betting they'll probably stick their heads back in, in the future. It happens. And also given quite a few people will probably be doing trials of CO while simultaneously playing CoX...it, in a roundabout way, does relate to the community.

Though the idea of CoX forumites forming a community outside of CoX in the rival's game makes me chuckle.

And tl;dr, No one asked you to read this thread, and no one is forcing you to continue reading this thread. There are other active threads in the Infinity forum. If this is really pissing you off that bad--GO READ THOSE.

Thank you, and this friendly PSA has been brought to you by the color green, for envy, and the letter D, for drama.

Moses was one of the critics of my dozen or so ragequit speeches around i13 PvP, that being said at least he had a point and contributed to the conversation instead of simply raging that no one posts anything fun for them while contributing zero other than rage.

Have fun in CO Moses, try not to go blind from the graphics.

I was around at CoH launch and have quit off and on, amicably over the past two years. The longest I've had an inactive account was the recent 9 month stint I believe. I've never posted a goodbye thread or given away my stuffz because I never leave the game angry, so I know there is a chance I'll return at any point in the future. My latest self-induced exile was to finish school, buy a house and get married, which has all been accomplished. I poked back in for a month and didn't see much has changed, so I'm poking back out.

I wish CoH loads of success, and hope it gets even Awesome-er so I'll have some new stuff to mess with in the future. I don't think CO is the savior and the game CoH should have been - It's simply a superhero game that I want to try, just like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, DC Online, and even DC Vs. Mortal Kombat. I'm a fan of comics, so if you make a game based on a comic-inspired atmosphere, I'm interested.

I've only played a little of CO, and so far I don't like the battle system and the movement is off, which could be due to the intense lag I'm getting over there currently. I'm going to try it with a 360 pad when the head start weekend begins this week to see if I like that any better. The graphics, which generally don't bother me (My SNES games get as much play as my PS3 ones do), are quite an eyesore in this game. So damn bright.

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

To the tools that think this isn't infinity related stfu. I get tired of all the undercover moderators we have on this forum...if you don't like it don't post in it. If your going to make a page long arguement atleast make it relevant to whats being said and not over dramatised with your own reading between the lines. If a moderator doesn't like the thread we will know...it will be closed or his post will be deleted. So take a second to unbunch your panties and actually read what he is saying.

Chris sorry to see you go man, will gladly welcome you back on your return...we haven't ran a mission together in quiet some time but we did do a few tfs all those years ago. As far as CO is concerned isn't that Jack Emmit's new project or was I completly wrong. I mean not a lot has changed game play wise since Statesmens departure from the game but the power proliferation has changed a lot and coh is probably better with his departure. I think CoH has the concept down right and the progression or leveling right but the game itself is not very adaptable. However I remain a customer here simply because its really the only MMO I have ever played that I can continue to play 15 to 20 mins a night and maybe a day off here and there and still accomplish things. That is why we see the revolving door...one that I have partaken in for most of my stay. So I understand where you stand with the game Mosses.

Ironically you didn't start a goodbye thread but the idiots turned it into one.

Yes, Jack is leading in CO.

Yeah, wasn't really sure what kinda poster you were, just that you posted a fair bit. I definitely hung out only occasionally in the Infinity forums--just wasn't my cup of tea back when.

And the movements seem a bit off--more like WoW graphics/playstyle/movement than anything else, at least from the little I've seen and played. I do love their stances to death, but a cool resting stance is not enough for me to play a game for (ok, and I love their beetle wings. Again, not worth it...).

And I heard a rumor the graphics look better/less of an eyesore if you turn off the outlining effect. YMMV, haven't played enough to bother trying it myself.

There used to be a what other game are you playing Infinity thread...til it and some others got purged without telling anyone. That thread was almost as old as these boards. If you think this isn't Infinity related perhaps you should brush up on its history...Chris has been here a long time and it wasn't a malicious thread, seriously move on.

Incidentally, OSHA had been here since release. Never left until his 3 accounts expired last month. This is my only account left of my 3 and the only reason it is still here was because of an auto renewal.
