I honestly don't know where I'm going from here. I really do not want to give NCSoft another dime at the moment. But there's precious little good out there. I mean, I carried a Starfleet-issue Type II Phaser Pistol into Baghdad, Iraq as my good-luck piece, and I won't play STO, its so bad. And the RP community (or lack thereof) sucks.
I just don't know. I'm at a loss. -
Briggs, Morris here. I copy your transmission and wilco. Out.

Hmm, that's a toughie... Should Sarge show up in M1942s or BDUs?
-
I'm sorry, folks, but other crap came up and I'm afraid I won't be able to make it this weekend. Sarge'll have to bow out.
Sorry, guys, hope everyone has fun! -

Sarge for Team 1, please.

This'd be my primary character, Sarge, as I refer to him.
There's a fair amount in there I'm not too happy with and I feel a fair amount is weak at best...
Its a work in progress and its still got a way to go.
Its also geared more towards the mature side of the house. Just a quick warning. Its more of an exploration of the emotional response to war rather than the historical, cut-and-dry facts. And he's one mentally messed-up dude. -
Player vehicles, while they would be totally awesome, would wreak havoc with the city. Imagine ******* drivers like me driving up stairs, over water, down sidewalks, through buildings, in missions...
Wait a minute... That sounds like fun!
Anyway, while I'd love to see player vehicles, it would open a whole can of worms that the devs would have to sort out. Programming, options, stuff like that. -
Sarge'll be there for Team 1. I really enjoy these missions.
-
I'd like to volunteer Sarge once again for Team 1. 50 blaster.

I was looking forward to CO, actually, as some of my friends had already moved over to the Beta (After getting banned for bug exploitation here.... Morons.). Initially, I was very impressed by the sheer number of choices on the character creation screen - until I toyed with it for three minutes. Then I realized that all the choices you're given are utterly inconsequential. So you can plaster your nose on your forehead if you want, that's great - but why are there all of twelve costume items?
Nevertheless, I threw together a (crappy and wholly unequal) clone of my character Sarge, and attempted to drive on.
Boy, was THAT a mistake.
The graphics are really nothing special. So its cel-shaded - that's fantastic for comic books. In video games, it gives me a headache. The controls feel like they're fighting me every step of the way, I can't just simply doubleclick on something and expect it to work, I absolutely HAVE to press Z, hearing certain characters say the SAME EXACT LINE every 20 seconds grates on your nerves after the second time, its almost a complete and utter blatant rip-off of City...
Long story short, my list of complaints about CO is extensive. I'm sure if I gave it more of a chance, and I will in the future (idiot me got the lifetime - it was too good of a deal to pass up, especially if the game lasts more than two years), but I can see me paying my subscription to City for a long time to come. And paying happily for CoX. And playing it more.
By my math, its summed up in one equation - CoX > CO. -
Well, that took some time, but it was, as always, loads of fun. Thought I'd share some of these in case anyone missed 'em.
Johnny's Crew
I forget who asked for this one...
Congratulations on your new home! I'll bring a cardboard box to make it cozier next time I stop by! -
I destroy the person below me with a cannon made of bamboo, sulfur, charcoal, saltpeter, and vines, set off by a piece of uniform and a spark from a Universal Translator that fires diamonds into your chest.
-
Woot. Four-day weekend means I'll be able to show up.
-
Sounds like a blast. Seeing as how I got my 50, I've got nothing to do with Sarge anymore except task forces, so Sarge'll be there, volunteering for Team 1.
-
That was an awesome run. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, I'd appreciate it if someone from Team 1 PMed me one of the team photos? Please?
-
Unfortunately, after some consideration, I'll not be able to make the raid. The time difference is too great and I've got duty Monday...
Sorry! -
Aww, I was looking forward to it.

Yes, I am basically a noob. Started playing with a friend who just did farm missions, then he got banned for cheating, I learned basically nothing and I'm still flying by the seat of my pants. Saying I've got a LOT to learn is an understatement.
So I'm overthinking this whole thing, aren't I? Makes sense, I guess, as it is a very unrealistic game, probably why I play it. So I guess next time I'll put down FM 7-8 and SH 21-76 and just shoot randomly. Probably spent too much time doing the real deal, I think like that even for games. I'll make a note of that and apply it next time. Thanks for the pointers.
One more thing - do NOT call me 'son'. -
Okay, in all seriousness, no offense intended, what exactly are you talking about? Everything I've ever learned is that battles are not won by standing around in a giant cluster, then jumping into another section without first clearing and securing an infil and exfil route, they're won by always moving forward, taking ground, laying down suppressive fire around the target and destroying the enemy. I've noticed none of that. There's no advancing on line, there's no organized push through any sectors, its utter chaos. The only part that made any sense to me was the destruction of the pylons. And at a certain point, without completely clearing out the infil/exfil route, everyone basically makes a break for the bowl, leaving our position extremely vulnerable to encirclement, which is tactical suicide. Even paratroopers don't jump into a surrounded position without a planned exfil route.

Well, that was informative. I now have six names written down who I am NEVER teaming with again. I think that's a first - usually I get good people on my team. I should get a badge for the crap I pulled off. Got shot down way too many times, basically crawled into the vent, and planted a charge under heavy enemy fire with no suppressive fire from my mostly useless squad. Mad cred to Herc, though, for sticking with me.

MSGT Morris will be staged on site at Point Du Hoc.

Quote:No kidding! I still look for Unfortunate Zee when I'm online - guess I'll have to stop looking, haha.LOL
MSGT Morris I have played with you as Unfortunate Zee. Your tanking blaster skills have got you to 49! Congrats! Unfortunately, Unfortunate Zee bit the dustbin when I needed the slot for a(nother) new toon.
Yeah, Sarge is still kicking, but I'm moving over to the Captain more and more. If you catch me online, feel free to shoot me a tell. -
Been playing a little bit of GRID recently where I disabled the opponent's AI so I'm free to take the Ford Mustang Boss 302 for a cruise. I'll get it up to maybe 55 miles an hour and just go for a joyride. If I get to a straightaway, though, that's when I put that virtual engine to work. Kind of a waste, but I'm probably just weird.
I got horribly addicted to Fallout 3 for a while there, that was all I played for about a week straight.
Then.... Ghostbusters came out. I didn't get over that addiction for a full month. It was horrible. Beat it repeatedly on all the difficulties, and I still go back and play it for about an hour every day. -
What I would really like to see is a differentiation between the current Assault Rifle and energy weapons. I'd also like to see more options for more natural/technology-minded blasters. Possibly assault rifles (which are good, mind you) pistols, energy rifles and energy pistols.
However, I realize that it might take a little more than just adding new animations and costume pieces, and they'll probably have to pop up during character creation, but I think they would be pretty cool.
Okay, so I want a phaser. Sue me.
