Infinity's Representatives to CO
There used to be a what other game are you playing Infinity thread...til it and some others got purged without telling anyone. That thread was almost as old as these boards. If you think this isn't Infinity related perhaps you should brush up on its history...Chris has been here a long time and it wasn't a malicious thread, seriously move on.

But me being here a while doesn't have any direct correlation to how appropriate the topic was to the server. I appreciate the thought, but that's not the message I was trying to send. The latter point about it not being a malicious thread is certainly a justified point however.
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.
But I'm not saying I don't like Deadpool... well I actually I don't, but the point is that i understand it's a fun book that has some great moments, but it's has no purpose or point to it and in the end, is just a fun book, not a GOOD story.
I'd rather read something that's a good story and has a lot of fun moments like Green Lantern. But really I'd much rather read a Great Story that isn't anything like an Action Movie, like JLA the Nail, Kingdom Come, New Frontier or Marvels.(Wow only one Marvel Book in that list... I guess Quesada is more like MacFarlane)
Anyway, back to Champions.
I've given it another chance, and I might play it later. Just not now, It's fun, and it's action packed and the Character Creation is Good, but I just want to see it take itself seriously. So I guess I'll just wait for the game to come out and see what people think.
I stand by that.

Given that, I mostly like Deadpool because most of the srsbznz in the Marvel world bores me, rather than captivates me (for example, I also love Kingdom Come. Brilliant, brilliant writing and oh, the art!). But again, ymmv, everyone has their own opinion, yadda yadda yadda.
Deadpool has a lot of one liners, but there's a whole wealth of really serious and gut wrenching things he both has gone through, and brought about himself. Blind Al is a reallllly good example of that. How he died is another.
I can't say that because all I ever see him do and talk about Chimichangas and Kill people while breaking the 4th wall so much that it has lost it's impact.
And as for his story, much the same as the character, it's a bunch of Satire made to make fun of all those Anti Heroes of the 80s and 90s, like for example the same character he was paired with: Cable.
Don't you love it when someone sees satire as a serious story and makes a wonderful peice of Irony out of it?
Evidently we're just going to have different opinions about him, which is fine. He was mostly paired with Cable to show the differences between two guys doing the same job, to be honest. But, anyways, this is off-topic from the original topic, and I'm pretty sure neither of us are going to agree with the other no matter how many points we both bring up, so...I'll bow out of this debate.
As to CO, not really interested, but maybe if it seems more appealing down the road I'll look into it.

Have you no understanding of the internet? If someone disagrees with you, the only possible reason is that they're STUPID!

That's not how it's done you Idiot! =)
I loved, LOVED the first 2 Ambush Bug series and the Christmas Special. It does have to be taken in small doses, and a regular series wouldn't work, but as infrequent mini-series, it's awesome.
Oddly, I just Googled the Bug yesterday to see if there had been any new material over the last 3-5 years (when I stopped collecting comics). Looks like there was a series that I'll track down.
Like Moses, I'm a comics guy. I bought the box originally because it was a comic book game, no other reason, nothing else drew me in. In fact, the comic book appeal was so strong, it got me to play an MMO for the first time, a genre I had been uninterested in.
So CO comes along and all the time I've been of the mind that I'm not interested in another MMO but reading reviews online have intrigued me to see their approach to a comics game. So if my system fits the specs, I'll probably check it out to satisfy curiosity.
Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)
Just got back from extensive test (was in both the closed and open betas) and I have to say balance is a MAJOR issue over there. With PvP being built in to a system where you can-quite literally in fact!-make yourself invincible. I did so with one of my characters, the result was less than satisfying; I will go so far to say that PvP is more borken there than here by a LOOOOONG shot.
Overall the lower-level gameplay is decent and enjoyable for the most part, buuuut the game starts to take a slide with the higher end content. How so? The sheer challenge of some of the in-game instances were revamped to be nigh impossible without mass death. Melee is very clunky while range functions fluently, something I do NOT like being that I love melee-oritened characters. Nothing sucks more than standing there charging up an attack only to have the enemy juuuuust slightly move out of range.
The bloom is gorgeous in CO, although I will agree the graphics are a little too cartoony for my tastes.
Another big issue I had were certain travel powers. Why go any other travel power when teleport offers instant escape from fights, superior base speed, and even phasing stealth to allow you to avoid detection. Almost every form of flight (and acrobatics) is so slow you HAVE to waste 2 advantage points to even feel comfortable using them. Then some travel powers are just plain out of like-I.E. tunneling, superspeed, and acrobatics-when attempting to traverse certain areas.
The final issue I have here is thelack of explanation for certain powers, effects, and worst of all SuperStat information. The sheer annoyance of attempting to figure out how some of them work without going back to the original closed beta format is just an unnecessary evil.
All in all it's a decent game I give about a 6.9 to. Definitely needs to upgrade more as a game before I commit more than a hundred and fifty dollars to it.
$150?
Infinity and Victory mostly
dUmb, etc.
lolz PvP anymore, Market PvP for fun and profit
The CO Box is around 60$
Discounted 6-month sub is around 70$.
I won't be getting it in the limited time discount period, so I'm guessing an upwards of 150$ beyond that.
Yes, you still need to actually buy the game even if you did beta test.
You take that back!

Jack Emmert is basically using CO as a launchpad for Star Trek Online, or as I see it anyways.

And im playing the beta, course ive spent maybe 10 hours playtime sofar (which is about what ive played of this in the last year) and find the game to be decent. Was frustrating at first not really knowing what any of the powers do, but then i recalled back to issue 4 when i was running a level 25 spine/sr scrapper with 4 travel powers and no knowledge of stamina.
if ya see a der incubo or something with an aztec sounding name chances are its me..
Closed Beta access in BOTH of CO's subscription deals? Sounds fishy to me. Honestly I don't think enough time and effort was put into Co to make it what it "might" have been even in Open Beta. Going live with this current version seems very silly to me, but if he pulls a fast one and CO bombs according to some plan he has, then I'm sure some people will be PO'd.
Although it sounds a lot like Star Trek Online is going to be way more expansive, have way more time and effort poured into it, and have a LOT more attention from Jack Emmert himself.
He was mostly paired with Cable to show the differences between two guys doing the same job, to be honest.

No it isn't. I spent 180 bucks for that game and love every bit of it.
Though MUGEN can basically emulate it fine.
Now I'm curious. What game? YouTube is blocked at work.
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Also, Jack was in the most recent video I saw of CO; he isn't leading it though.
