How do I un-delete a character?

My son deleted one of my characters. Is there any way to get my character back?

Unfortunately, no. And if you try to tell support that, they'll mention that you aren't supposed to share accounts. Not that they'll ban you or anything, but it's one of the side-effects they mention when you share accounts. If someone else does something to your account, you're responsible for it.

You can try something along the lines "I deleted the wrong character by accident" in a support request.

Not saying they will undelete, but that is the only way.

It's a wild chance, but you can send an email to support with the all the pertinent character info (global, name, server, AT, level, etc) and the date the character was deleted.

I've heard of people getting characters back in extremely, extremely rare situations.

A parent is allowed to share accounts with their child. Technically speaking they're probably supposed to be under direct supervision all or most of the time, but it's doubtful there's been a EULA violation in this case.

Support WILL undelete characters, if they can. However if you've remade the character while waiting, you're out of luck I think.

Note that if they can undelete a character, it may not be a recent backup.

I asked them to undelete a character once (I deleted the right name, but the wrong server, LOL) - I got her back! Yay! She was about two weeks out of date, so several levels and many IOs were missing from her.

This is correct. Essentially, you've just replaced any old information associated with that name with the new information.

No.

The Customer is liable for all activities conducted through his Account, and parents or guardians are liable for all activities of their minor child conducted through the Account.
From this page.
An adult may be the owner of an account for the use of a minor, but they are not permitted to share it.

Please note, I'm not making any claims about what is or is not enforced or what is/is not reasonable. I'm just advising the 'official policy' that is set out very plainly on the web site.

My understanding of that provision is that a parent can create an account for a minor for the exclusive use of the minor. Not that sharing is ever allowed. It's the exception to the "license to use" part that gets you around the fact that accounts are non-transferable. Meaning if you paid for it, you're the only person who's authorized to use it. The wording in the EULA pretty clearly states "Only one person may use an Account.", right after they say if you're under 18 you must get parental consent first since you can't enter into contracts with minors.

Of course, NCSoft probably isn't going to peg you for letting your son play on your account...

Yeah, technically you aren't supposed to, but I would think that most game companies would look past that in the situation of a parent and child, especially if its a younger child and/or the kid was still living at home and in school or something. If you caught a support person on a bad day, they might and could report you within their rules, but I would think that it is one of the rules that internally most of them would just overlook in such a situation. It just leads to bad PR and scaring off a potential second account later on when they start wanting to play together by bringing out the ban hammer on families. Though if you do contact support, I would still be tactful and not mention a second player on the account to avoid the issue and just say the character was deleted and avoid details on HOW the player was deleted or just say you did it accidently.

From everything I've heard before in such cases:
  • You need the character's name
  • You need the date it was deleted (to an accuracy of one week)
  • You need to ask for it to be undeleted within 6 months of the deletion taking place

I'll echo FW's information -- I've had friends more than once (and in different contexts) make this request, and Support has been great about giving it the ol' college try each time, and about 90% of the time has been successful at recovering the toon(s) in question.

As far as the "sharing" issue goes, while it may be a technical violation of the EULA, I doubt any reasonable person at NCSoft would take exception to the situation as presented (a parent allowing their child to play on the parent's account).
