Why does Psychoti have only 1 rep?

Seriously folks. The titles says it all. If you don't know who Psychoti is just read the Rude Tells thread up in Player Questions. This guy has been making us laugh until we cry and rightly deserves our Pos Rep.

Let's show him we appreciate his hilarious rude tell stories.

Psychoti has one jellybean of rep, not one rep. I have 36 points of rep and I've still only got one jellybean.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

I'm still not sure why we have or need Rep, but if anyone (besides SteelClaw and Philotic_Knight) deserve +Rep, it's definitely Psychoti.

Whatever they call those little green dots. You know what I'm getting at. Let's not nitpick my poor choice of words.

Because reputation on these boards is now meaningless.

Especially positive rep. There's still a chance that negative rep might mean something however, for now...

Oh no I have many green dots and you don't. Doooom

Next you'll tell me that post count matters!

While I understand what your saying, I say screw the rep farmers. Their little rep game means nothing to me.

Just because some people are abusing it doesn't mean someone that truly deserves a pat on the back and a kudos for a job well done shouldn't get a few green jellybeans.

Besides we pretty much know who is farming rep and who isn't.

We gave Psychoti some Jellybeans, but MissKitty ated them.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that someone who has their reputation hidden is wondering why someone else doesn't have a gazillion 'jellybeans' beside their name?

Just because you (generic you) have your (generic your) reputation disabled doesn't mean you (generic you) don't want to boost someone else, who doesn't have reputation disabled. The two ideas are not mutually exclusive.

100% nadda, i look at the rep system as an ego system. A group of people trying to be something they aint.

True reputation is achieved by people knowing you can be trusted/good at something simply by looking at your name, not thinking "hmm they have 5 bars of good rep so they must be good!".

Besides its already proven that a lot of people are rating inside their own little cliches, so nah think i'll stick to the good old method of trusting everyones opinion on each and every post

No, people get rep by clicking on the little scales icon below their avatar and then selecting either "I approve" or "I disapprove" and typing in a comment (optional for the positive aspect, not so for the negative one).

One of the first things I did when the forums came back (other than fixing my avatar) was to disable my reputation. I think that the rep system will eventually (when it's clear to the community people that it isn't working as inteneded) be disabled, just like the star system on the old boards.

"Why does Psychoti only have 1 Rep?"

My answer would have been "because the Rep system is only like a couple weeks old*, and many folks either: didn't notice it, don't care or haven't read anything from Psychoti that tickled thier fancy. While he is one of the posters who brings what I consider 'da good stuf' to the boards, it's not like he's posting all over the place, so there's somewhat limited exposure."
Does he post much outside the Rude Tells thread?

So now there's a whole thread dedicated to grabbing rep points for ONE poster? I'm not going to go straight from this thread to go give Psychoti Rep points, but instead I will give points as I see fit.

*Disclaimer: the EU boards might have had a rep system, but the NA boards did not have such a system for quite a while. There was a 1-5 starring of posters for a while, but they took it away pretty early.

I included a link to the thread his humerous posts are in so people can go there directly and see his posts and decide for themselves.

If you don't like his posts then feel free to go on your merry way. I just hit me that with all the "you rep me and I'll rep you" crap going on, it would be nice to see someone that has made thousands of us (9,246 at last count) laugh, get an attaboy from his peers.

I'm sorry if this idea rubbed you the wrong way BBQ.

I don't see why you feel it's ironic. I would like to encourage you to check out the Rude Tells thread up in Player Questions and read some of Psychoti's posts.

I feel he has a humerous knack for dealing with the rude, ignorant players we stumble across ingame and I know that now when I run across those guys I'm reminded of things Psychoti has said and don't get irritated by them anymore.

Check out the thread and decide for yourself.

Logic this profund has no place on the internet.

(its what I generally do, a few folks get listened no to matter the individual post, due to a long history of making sense.)

I had fun with the old star system. I was 3 stars for so long that I posted a thread asking people to move my star rating, up or down, I didn't care. I just was sick of having 3 stars.

It... somehow went up. *scratches head*

Oh, I'm not upset at this thread, and I *do* like his posts.
I'm just thinking that this effort to give rep to one specific poster (of fairly good stuff!) is kind of artificial tasting.

To be fair, there's quite a few people deserving of kudos and I'd like to think that they will get there in time.

Forgive me for this,, but the rep system shouldnt matter really,, if you think someone does good wouldn't it be better to post it on one of their threads, since the green dots don't seem to mean much to most. I just figure saying, "Hey man Great job!" or something like that would make someone feel good more than some green dot,, just my opinion.
